Scientists have been studying and tracking the movement of these rocks for decades.
Some of the rocks weigh more than 600 pounds.
One early theory suggested that dust devils were behind the mysterious movement.
Or is it a hoax? Visible trails suggest that the ground is muddy, so maybe people are moving them.
But now, scientists believe the rocks move when rainwater reaches the dry desert terrain.
When the temperature drops and the water freezes, it creates a thin sheet of ice across the ground.
The ice sheet breaks into pieces when temperatures warm-up during the day.
Wind pushes against the ice, creating a natural sail that causes the rocks to slide across the ground.
After obtaining special permits, scientists placed their own rocks in Death Valley.
And then the scientists equipped their boulders with GPS trackers.
The stones recorded movement and velocity, and scientists used them to study the movement of the actual stones in Death Valley to prove their theory.

There’s a barren lake bed in the Death Valley National Park in California defined by its many long serpentine tracks, etched into the landscape by massive stones that move somewhat miraculously across the mud.
It’s called Racetrack Playa — and for decades geologists have been chasing the “sailing stones” at play there. One of the first scientific studies, published in 1948, suggested the rock motion was driven by dust devils. Most recently, a couple of U.S. scientists hypothesized it was hurricane-force winds that were doing the deed. But it wasn’t until now that science has revealed a plausible explanation for how these stones leave their “racetrack” imprints through the playa: It takes a kind of perfect storm.

Moving On (TV series)
Moving On is a British television series consisting of standalone contemporary dramas first shown on daytime BBC One. The first episode, titled "The Rain Has Stopped", aired on 18 May 2009.
As of November 2014, six series and a total of 35 episodes have aired.
Production history
The first series of five episodes aired for one week in May 2009, and featured Sheila Hancock, Lesley Sharp, Richard Armitage, Dervla Kirwan and Ian Hart. Although originally broadcast in an early-afternoon slot, less than a month after the initial airing the first series was repeated to an evening audience.
The reception was good enough for a second series to be commissioned, planned to comprise ten episodes. The second series was broadcast during a two-week period beginning 1 November 2010.
Series 3 was confirmed for autumn 2011 starring Reece Dinsdale, Christine Bottomley, Dean Lennox Kelly, Paul Usher and Eva Pope, but has been cut back to five episodes. Filming started on 14 January 2011 and the series was aired from 14–18 November 2011.

Moving On (Zhang Liyin song)
"Moving On" is Zhang Liyin's first Chinese single (second overall), released on October 29, 2009. The title song is a remake of Ana Bárbara's "Deja", originally recorded in 2003; while "Love Me" is a remake of a song called "Baila". "Moving On" was released in South Korea on October 30, 2009 in both physical and digital formats.
Song information
Written by Chinese singer, Zhou Weijie, "Moving On" is a bittersweet song that speaks about a couple who has just broken up. The writer reflects on the past, referring to their happy memories as "sunny days" and the days after the breakup as "rainy days". Its melody is based on the original Latin tune, but re-arranged by well-known Korean composer, Kenzie.
Composed by a long list of composers (Brandon Fraley, Jamelle Fraley, Victor Oquenda, Javier Solis), "Love Me" is an upbeat dance track with lyricist written by Huang Zuyin, a famous lyricist who has written songs for Taiwanese groups like Fahrenheit and S.H.E. The song features a rap by Super Junior-M member, Henry.

Scientists have been studying and tracking the movement of these rocks for decades.
Some of the rocks weigh more than 600 pounds.
One early theory suggested that dust devils were behind the mysterious movement.
Or is it a hoax? Visible trails suggest that the ground is muddy, so maybe people are moving them.
But now, scientists believe the rocks move when rainwater reaches the dry desert terrain.
When the temperature drops and the water freezes, it creates a thin sheet of ice across the ground.
The ice sheet breaks into pieces when temperatures warm-up during the day.
Wind pushes against the ice, creating a natural sail that causes the rocks to slide across the ground.
After obtaining special permits, scientists placed their own rocks in Death Valley.
And then the scientists equipped their boulders with GPS trackers.
The stones recorded movement and velocity, and scientists used them to study the movement of the actual stones in Death Valley to prove their theory.

Scientists have been studying and tracking the movement of these rocks for decades.
Some of the rocks weigh more than 600 pounds.
One early theory suggested that dust devils were behind the mysterious movement.
Or is it a hoax? Visible trails suggest that the ground is muddy, so maybe people are moving them.
But now, scientists believe the rocks move when rainwater reaches the dry desert terrain.
When the temperature drops and the water freezes, it creates a thin sheet of ice across the ground.
The ice sheet breaks into pieces when temperatures warm-up during the day.
Wind pushes against the ice, creating a natural sail that causes the rocks to slide across the ground.
After obtaining special permits, scientists placed their own rocks in Death Valley.
And then the scientists equipped their boulders with GPS trackers.
The stones recorded movement and velocity, and scientists used them to study the movement of the actual stones in Death Valley to prove their theory.

There’s a barren lake bed in the Death Valley National Park in California defined by its many long serpentine tracks, etched into the landscape by massive stones that move somewhat miraculously across the mud.
It’s called Racetrack Playa — and for decades geologists have been chasing the “sailing stones” at play there. One of the first scientific studies, published in 1948, suggested the rock motion was driven by dust devils. Most recently, a couple of U.S. scientists hypothesized it was hurricane-force winds that were doing the deed. But it wasn’t until now that science has revealed a plausible explanation for how these stones leave their “racetrack” imprints through the playa: It takes a kind of perfect storm.
