Medicine Is Better In Mexico Than The U.S.?
This is a purely subjective video solely based on my experiences. The intended purpose is to give you an idea of the actual system, and then I will let you make up your own mind.
There are so many factors determining how much something cost, and there are so many moving parts to determine cost. So, before people go half-cocked, thinking that the Mexican government takes better care of their citizen's, maybe you can investigate what's actually going on.
It is true that most surgeries cost between a 1/4-1/3 of what it costs in the U.S., and some people think that it is because the American Hospitals are ripping off the patient. Unfortunately, this is not accurate. I would argue that failed Medicare and Medicaid policies drive prices through the roof.
There is no real incentive to keep prices down in the U.S., and most doctors in the U.S. have no real idea what certain services cost. Nurses in the U.S. can make twice as much as your average medical doctor in Mexico. These are just some factors, but there are others as well. For instance, X-ray techs are required to have a bachelor's degree in the U.S., but not in Mexico. There are many such factors that keep overhead down in order to give that surgery at a low cost.
In the U.S.,
The Federal government can tell hospitals how much they can charge, and oftentimes the hospital operates at a loss. This doesn't happen in Mexico really. Private hospitals are allowed to exist without as much government interference.
Going to the clinic in Mexico really sucks. Sure, it's free, or close to it, but most of the time, I can go to the local pharmacy and get the same services fairly inexpensive too. This is also something that could be implemented in the U.S. It has been suggested that in the U.S. certain pharmacies could have a physician's assistant at a minimal cost where people could go and see a physician, but that isn’t being done currently.
Also, the cost of living is a little lower in Mexico than in the U.S. So, are the hospitals ripping you off, or are there failed policies in the U.S. determining the price?
Lastly, if you have a chronic illness that is life threatening, I hope you don’t want to trust government medicine in Mexico because you are likely to die. I have seen a lot of people die of preventable conditions over the years, and some at an extremely young age. At least, in the U.S., if you are sick, you will have a chance at survival. I can’t say I agree that that is the same in Mexico.

The consumption of sugar, especially in beverages, has brought about extremely negative health impacts, especially among the poorest sectors of society. Pay your respects to the Niños Heroes, a monument which honors the six boy soldiers who gave their lives defending Castillo de Chapultepec. Today, the castle serves as the National Museum of History.
Just to the north is Nuevo Polanco, a former warehouse area rapidly being transformed by new architectural visions, such as the Museo Soumaya and Museo Jumex.
To the south of the city is Coyoacán. In the early 20th century the district’s artists, writers and intellectuals inspired not only Mexico, but the entire world. Visit The Blue House, the birthplace of Frieda Kahlo, and the Museo Casa Estudio Diego Rivera y Frida Kahlo, where these two giants of Mexican art worked, lived and loved.
Just to the south are the incredible murals and buildings of Ciudad Universitaria, which, when constructed in the 1950s, was the city’s largest single building project since the time of the Aztecs.
The spirit of bohemia continues amid the sophisticated hues and beauty of districts such as Roma and Condesa. At Xochimilco, simply float away on a riot of color on the last of the city’s Aztec canals.

This is a purely subjective video solely based on my experiences. The intended purpose is to give you an idea of the actual system, and then I will let you make up your own mind.
There are so many factors determining how much something cost, and there are so many moving parts to determine cost. So, before people go half-cocked, thinking that the Mexican government takes better care of their citizen's, maybe you can investigate what's actually going on.
It is true that most surgeries cost between a 1/4-1/3 of what it costs in the U.S., and some people think that it is because the American Hospitals are ripping off the patient. Unfortunately, this is not accurate. I would argue that failed Medicare and Medicaid policies drive prices through the roof.
There is no real incentive to keep prices down in the U.S., and most doctors in the U.S. have no real idea what certain services cost. Nurses in the U.S. can make twice as much as your average medical doctor in Mexico. These are just some factors, but there are others as well. For instance, X-ray techs are required to have a bachelor's degree in the U.S., but not in Mexico. There are many such factors that keep overhead down in order to give that surgery at a low cost.
In the U.S.,
The Federal government can tell hospitals how much they can charge, and oftentimes the hospital operates at a loss. This doesn't happen in Mexico really. Private hospitals are allowed to exist without as much government interference.
Going to the clinic in Mexico really sucks. Sure, it's free, or close to it, but most of the time, I can go to the local pharmacy and get the same services fairly inexpensive too. This is also something that could be implemented in the U.S. It has been suggested that in the U.S. certain pharmacies could have a physician's assistant at a minimal cost where people could go and see a physician, but that isn’t being done currently.
Also, the cost of living is a little lower in Mexico than in the U.S. So, are the hospitals ripping you off, or are there failed policies in the U.S. determining the price?
Lastly, if you have a chronic illness that is life threatening, I hope you don’t want to trust government medicine in Mexico because you are likely to die. I have seen a lot of people die of preventable conditions over the years, and some at an extremely young age. At least, in the U.S., if you are sick, you will have a chance at survival. I can’t say I agree that that is the same in Mexico.

Dr. Trevor Berry
Dr. Trevor Berry is a board-certified Chiropractic Neurologist. He graduated Magna Cum Laude, Salutatorian from Parker University and was the recipient of many academic awards including the Parker Scholastic Excellence Award. Dr. Berry has more than 2000 hours of post-doctoral education in neurological fields such as vestibular and balance disorders, traumatic brain injury, pain management and neurodegenerative disorders as well as functional medicine. Dr. Berry has been doing FDA research on neurological effects of Laser Therapy since 2011 and in 2014 he received the Erchonia Researcher of the Year Award. He is a partner at BTB Health Systems, where he lectures nationally and internationally and consults regarding functional neurology, functional medicine, laboratory testing and interpretation, laser therapy and more.
Robert Spies, MD
Robert Spies, MD, is an experienced, Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon. Dr. Spies received seven years of surgical training prior to entering private practice in 1986. He is the Vice President of the Arizona Plastic Surgery Society. He has received awards and recognition for his work including being the recipient of the American Medical Association Physicians Recognition Award as well as being voted “Top Doc” in Phoenix Magazine on multiple occasions by a group of his peers. Dr. Spies has donated his time and skills to perform reconstructive surgery on children with birth deformities in Mexico. He also is an Associate Professor at Mayo Clinic."

Dr. Trevor Berry
Dr. Trevor Berry is a board-certified Chiropractic Neurologist. He graduated Magna Cum Laude, Salutatorian from Parker University and was the recipient of many academic awards including the Parker Scholastic Excellence Award. Dr. Berry has more than 2000 hours of post-doctoral education in neurological fields such as vestibular and balance disorders, traumatic brain injury, pain management and neurodegenerative disorders as well as functional medicine. Dr. Berry has been doing FDA research on neurological effects of Laser Therapy since 2011 and in 2014 he received the Erchonia Researcher of the Year Award. He is a partner at BTB Health Systems, where he lectures nationally and internationally and consults regarding functional neurology, functional medicine, laboratory testing and interpretation, laser therapy and more.
Robert Spies, MD
Robert Spies, MD, is an experienced, Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon. Dr. Spies received seven years of surgical training prior to entering private practice in 1986. He is the Vice President of the Arizona Plastic Surgery Society. He has received awards and recognition for his work including being the recipient of the American Medical Association Physicians Recognition Award as well as being voted “Top Doc” in Phoenix Magazine on multiple occasions by a group of his peers. Dr. Spies has donated his time and skills to perform reconstructive surgery on children with birth deformities in Mexico. He also is an Associate Professor at Mayo Clinic."
