Assistant Producer (AP) is a broad job title found across BBC Radio and TV. Many APs will have graduated from the role of Researcher and may be aspiring Producers or PDs -- Producer-Directors. Assistant Producers help create items for radio or TV - and often are involved every step of the way from pitching ideas to sitting in the edit with their producer and editor.
After pitching or being assigned an item the AP might develop the piece with a researcher. They could have a hand in booking contributors, experts, celebrities, locations, props, equipment and crew depending on what is required. They need to be resourceful and keep the programme budget in mind. WHAT YOU DO: A production assistant in the television or film industries takes care of any odd jobs that need to be done for a production, including answering phones, transporting actors, getting equipment, taking out the trash, and other random tasks.
EDUCATION: A degree in film and TV production can be helpful.
USEFUL SKILLS: Communication, friendliness, patience, determination, enthusiasm, energy, and the ability to follow directions.
HOW TO GET IN: Get some experience working on college student productions (film schools often have online job boards). Network and develop contacts; film students eventually graduate and will be interested in working with people they already know. Contact studios, production companies (especially commercial production companies) and production managers, and tell them that you're available as a PA. Be persistent, within reason.
CAREER PATH: A job as a PA can used as a first step towards lots of different careers in the industry, such as editing, producing, or directing. As a PA, you get experience working on a set and meeting people who can help you move forward. The friendliest, most helpful, and hardest working PAs are remembered when directors or producers are looking for a new assistant editor, production coordinator, or camera assistant.
PAYBACK: Typically around $35,000 per year, generally part-time.
DOWNSIDES: The PAs are the first ones on set and the last ones to leave. They take orders from almost everyone else on set, and usually end up doing the jobs that no one else wants.
FUTURE OF JOB: The number of jobs is expected to grow up to 2% in the 2013-2022 decade, which is slower than average.

Film producer
Film producers fill a variety of roles depending upon the type of producer. Either employed by a production company or independent, producers plan and coordinate various aspects of film production, such as selecting script, coordinating writing, directing and editing, and arranging financing. The average Hollywood film made in 2013 had just over 10 producer credits (3.2 producers, 4.4 executive producers, 1.2 co-producers, 0.8 associate producers and 0.5 other types of producer). During the "discovery stage", the producer has to find and acknowledge promising material. Then, unless the film is supposed to be based on an original script, the producer has to find an appropriate screenwriter.
For various reasons, producers cannot always personally supervise all of the production. As such, the main producer will appoint executive producers, line producers or unit production managers who represent the main producer's interests. Among other things, the producer has the last word on whether sounds or music have to be changed or scenes have to be cut and they are in charge of selling the film or arranging distribution rights. The producer's role can vary significantly from project to project and based on the circumstances and funding.

Pension tax simplification
Pension tax simplification, often simply referred to as "pension simplification" and taking effect from A-day on 6 April 2006 was a policy announced in 2004 by the Labour government to rationalise the British tax system as applied to pension schemes. The aim was to reduce the complicated patchwork of legislation built-up by successive administrations which were seen as acting as a barrier to the public when considering retirement planning. The government wanted to encourage retirement provision by simplifying the previous eight tax regimes into one single regime for all individual and occupational pensions.
Main changes
Broadly the new regime allows considerable freedom in the tax relievable contributions that may be made to pension schemes, and the assets in which they may be invested. It also however caps the size of tax favoured pension fund that may be accumulated by an individual. This 'lifetime allowance' was set at £1.6M for 2007–08. Funds accumulated in excess of the lifetime allowance are subject to a tax charge of 55%. Transitional protection provisions were made for individuals who had already accumulated pension funds in excess of this amount.

A Day in the Life
"A Day in the Life" is the final song on the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album. Credited to Lennon–McCartney, the song comprises distinct sections written independently by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, with orchestral additions. While Lennon's lyrics were inspired by contemporary newspaper articles, McCartney's were reminiscent of his youth. The decisions to link sections of the song with orchestral glissandos and to end the song with a sustained piano chord were made only after the rest of the song had been recorded.
The supposed drug reference in the line "I'd love to turn you on" resulted in the song initially being banned from broadcast by the BBC. Since its original album release, "A Day in the Life" has been released as a B-side, and also on various compilation albums. It has been covered by other artists, and since 2008, by McCartney in his live performances. It was ranked the 28th greatest song of all time by Rolling Stone magazine. On a different list, the magazine ranked it as the greatest Beatles song.

En route, Ted has met and fallen in love with Jean Worthington, daughter of Dean Worthington who is counting on Ted's enrollment to save his job. Ted, as the hero of many college and football movies, is given a royal welcome when he arrives. In an effort to make the Midland football team a bigger draw and pay off the stadium debt, Ted is put on the varsity team, where, his exploits don't match those he had on screen, and he is actually a liability. He soon incurs the enmity of Biff Gordon, the school's football hero and Ted's rival for Jean. Biff sets Ted up with a fake fraternity initiation, wherein Ted passes on the tin fraternity ring, taken from a candy box, to Jean. Suspecting unjustly that Jean was part of the hoax, Ted quits school and signs a big radio contract. When the school learns of the hoax, it suspends Biff and the entire team on the eve of the big game. Ted hears about it and his loyalty to the school prompts him to return and square the team with the faculty. They win the big game. Ted, still believing that Jean was in on the trick, boards a train back to New York. Jean learns that Ted is about to lose his radio contract because he can't get back in time, and suggests to Sam that he arrange with the school for Ted to broadcast from the stadium, using the college band and glee club.
