Latina (formerly Frecuencia Latina) is a Peruvian television network, founded on January 23, 1983.

History

Predecessors

The first station to broadcast on channel 2 in Lima came about in 1957, when Eduardo Cavero, owner of a network of radio stations, acquired a license for that frequency. On May 27, 1962, the channel launched, with an emphasis on variety shows and musical programs. However, the competition up the dial between América Televisión and Panamericana Televisión, on channels 4 and 5, would take its toll on the ratings at channel 2, and in 1966, the station was sold to Tele 2 S.A., a joint venture between the Spanish company Movierecord and the American Metromedia, which renamed the station Tele 2 and turned it into the first movie-focused station in Latin America; Tele 2 would broadcast movies in the afternoon and repeat them at night, plus a 15-minute newscast at the start of its broadcast day. With changes in Peru's military government in 1974, the station's license was revoked, and channel 2 in Lima would go dark.

Kairali TV

Kairali TV is an Indian television channel broadcasting in Malayalam language. The channel, headquartered at Trivandrum, has studio facilities at Trivandrum as well as Kochi. Malayalam Communications Limited is the holding company which is chaired by Malayalam film actor Mammootty. John Brittas is the Managing Director.

América Televisión

América Televisión is a Peruvian television network, affiliated with México's Televisa, founded in 1958. The network is owned by Plural TV, which is a joint venture of the El Comercio and La República daily newspapers. It was the second television channel to be founded in Peru, the first commercial station with regular broadcasts, and Peru's highest-rated network.

History

Origins

The origins of América Televisión reach back to 1942, with the formation of the first privately backed radio network in Peru, Compañía Peruana de Radiodifusión, S.A. (Peruvian Radio Company). Among the original stations was Radio América 94.3, which would eventually be owned by Antonio Umbert and Nicanor González Vásquez.

In early 1955, Umbert and González received a license to broadcast on television channel 4, and using RCA equipment from the United States and after intense work to construct the facilities, Radio América TV, callsign OAY-4D, began transmissions on Monday, December 15, 1958 at 6:15pm. Attending the first broadcast was then-Peruvian president Manuel Prado Ugarteche. Among the early programs were the first live broadcast, a football match from the Estadio Nacional de Lima, and the first fiction program on Peruvian television, Bar Cristal, which debuted in 1959.

Hispanic and Latino Americans

Hispanic Americans and Latino Americans (Spanish: hispanos [isˈpanos], latinos) are United States citizens, descending from the peoples of the countries of Latin America and Iberia. More generally, it includes all persons in the United States who self-identify as Hispanic or Latino, whether of full or partial ancestry. For the US census in 2010, American Community Survey, people counted as "Hispanic" or "Latino" are those who identify as one of the specific Hispanic or Latino categories listed on the census or ACS questionnaire ("Mexican," "Puerto Rican," or "Cuban") as well as those who indicate that they are "other Spanish, Hispanic, or Latino." The countries or people who are in the Hispanic or Latino American groups as classified by the Census Bureau are the following: Spain, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, El Salvador, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela. It is important to note that the Census office of the U.S. excludes Brazilian Americans from the Hispanic and Latino American population (Brazil is part of Latin America, but has a Portuguese language culture rather than a Spanish language culture).

Delaware Route 7

Delaware Route 7 (DE 7) is a two- to four-lane north–south highway in New Castle County, Delaware that connects U.S. Route 13 (US 13) and DE 72 near Delaware City to the Pennsylvania border near Hockessin, where it continues into Pennsylvania as State Route 3013 (SR 3013), intersecting Pennsylvania Route 41 (PA 41) at an interchange. Between Delaware City and Christiana, DE 7 runs to the west of the DE 1 freeway through suburban areas, passing through Bear. By the Christiana Mall, DE 7 joins the DE 1 freeway and comes to an interchange with Interstate 95 (I-95) before the DE 1 freeway ends at the DE 58 interchange. After the freeway segment, DE 7 continues north as a surface road concurrent with DE 4 through Stanton. From Stanton to the Pennsylvania border, DE 7 heads northwest through suburban areas, passing through Pike Creek.

What is now DE 7 was built as a state highway during the 1920s and 1930s. By 1936, the route was designated to run along its present alignment between US 13 near Red Lion, Delaware and the Pennsylvania border. From the 1950s to the 1970s, DE 7 became a divided highway between Christiana and Milltown Road. With the construction of the DE 1 freeway in the 1990s, DE 7 was shifted to a portion of the freeway near the Christiana Mall. The route was also extended south to an intersection with US 13 and DE 72 as a result of the relocation of US 13 onto a portion of the freeway. The road also became a divided highway between Milltown Road and DE 72 in the 1990s. In 1999, an interchange was built at DE 58 as a result of a northward extension of DE 1 along DE 7. The interchange with I-95 was reconstructed to include flyover ramps in 2013.
