Jahan Marcu, Ph.D., is currently the Chief Science Officer at Americans for Safe Access (a medical cannabis advocacy non-profit) and Director of the Patient Focused Certification program, which is a health and safety oversight program that assesses regulatory compliance at cannabis operations. He is co-founder and past-chairman of the CANN subdivision of the Chemical Health and Safety Division (DCHAS) of the American Chemical Society. His is also on the Board of Directors of the International Association for Cannabinoids as Medicine. He has a background in analytical chemistry and molecular pharmacology, he received his Ph.D. for contributions in characterizing the structure and function of the cannabinoid receptors.

Webinar Abstract:
The therapeutic applications of medical cannabis and cannabinoid drugs is controversial, however the number of medical conditions in which cannabinoids and cannabis have shown promise as therapeutic treatments is expanding. The occurrence of side effects from cannabinoids is still a concern, especially with the wide variability in drug levels and response that has been observed. This is compounded by possible interactions with prescription drugs. Application of pharmacogenomics (PGx) and knowledge of drug-drug interactions could help patients and doctors navigate the complexities of combining prescription drugs and cannabis compounds. Genetic variants in several drug metabolizing enzymes may impact response to cannabinoids, including CYP3A4, CYP2C9, and CYP2C19. Furthermore, drug interactions caused by cannabinoids may also be mediated by drug metabolizing enzymes (e.g. CYP2C9, CYP2D6, CYP2B6, CYP1A1) and possibly drug transporters such as ABCB1. Understanding how commonly prescribed drugs and cannabinoids interact could help reduce risks associated with polydrug regimens. This presentation will discuss PGx testing for cannabis and potential impacts on commonly prescribed pharmaceuticals.

The effects of cannabis are caused by chemical compounds in the cannabis plant, including 400 different cannabinoids such as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC),[1] which allow its drug to have various psychological and physiological effects on the human body. Different plants of the genus Cannabis contain different and often unpredictable concentrations of THC and other cannabinoids and hundreds of other molecules that have a pharmacological effect,[2][3] so that the final net effect cannot reliably be foreseen.
Acute effects while under the influence can sometimes include euphoria.[4][5] Although some assert that cannabidiol (CBD), another cannabinoid found in cannabis in varying amounts, may alleviate the adverse effects of THC that some users experience,[6] little is known about CBD effects on humans.[7][8]
In the United States, medical cannabis research is limited by federal restrictions.[9] Smoking any substance could possibly carry similar risks as smoking tobacco due to carcinogens in all smoke,[10] [11][12] and the ultimate conclusions on these factors are disputed.[13][14][15][16]
Cannabis use disorder is defined as a medical diagnosis in the fifth revision of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5).[17]

Reefer (band)
Reefer is an alternative hip hop group based in Maui County, Hawaii. It consists of Nicholas Thorburn and Daddy Kev. The duo released the debut album, Reefer, on Alpha Pup Records in 2008. Their song, "May Baleen", was listed by Consequence of Sound as one of the Top 10 Subaquatic Tunes in 2009.
History
The Islands frontman Nicholas Thorburn and Los Angeles hip hop producer Daddy Kev recorded the debut album, Reefer, in Maui County, Hawaii. It was released on Alpha Pup Records in 2008. It featured remixes from Dntel and Flying Lotus. Rebecca Raber of Pitchfork Media described the album as "Thorburn's best album of the year."

Cannabis (drug)
Cannabis, also known as marijuana and by numerous other names, is a preparation of the Cannabis plant intended for use as a psychoactive drug or medicine. The main psychoactive part of cannabis is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC); it is one of 483 known compounds in the plant, including at least 84 other cannabinoids, such as cannabidiol (CBD), cannabinol (CBN), and tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV).
Cannabis is often consumed for its mental and physical effects, such as heightened mood, relaxation, and an increase in appetite. Possible side effects include a decrease in short-term memory, dry mouth, impaired motor skills, red eyes, and feelings of paranoia or anxiety. Onset of effects is within minutes when smoked and about 30 minutes when eaten. They last for between two and six hours.
Cannabis is mostly used recreationally or as a medicinal drug. It may also be used as part of religious or spiritual rites. In 2013, between 128 and 232 million people used cannabis (2.7% to 4.9% of the global population between the ages of 15 and 65). In 2015, almost half of the people in the United States have tried marijuana, 12% have used it in the past year, and 7.3% have used it in the past month.

Stay (Bernard Butler song)
"Stay" is the debut single from Bernard Butler released in January 1998. It was taken from the album People Move On and charted at number 12 on the UK Singles Chart.
Background
The song begins with a gentle acoustic guitar, which leads into Butler's vocals. Drums, electric guitar, keyboards and backing vocals all get introduced gradually, before coming together in one last climax and quiet coda. Butler has said that "Stay" is not a love song but a song about change. "The process of change is hard but you've got to do it. It's about when you know you've got to do something but there's an element of risk. It's about when I first went to France to record. A lot of the lyrics come from a conversation with Elisa, my wife. I wrote them on the train over to France."
The music video for the title song was directed by David Mould, whose directing credits include Suede's "Trash", the first single released after Butler's departure. B-side "Hotel Splendide" features lead vocals from Edwyn Collins.

It was released on June 18, 2010, by Hollywood Records; it would become her final album with the label after signing with RCA Records in 2013. Cyrus wrote the project in 2009, while travelling internationally for her Wonder World Tour, and recorded it in 2010. Described by Cyrus as a "good [record] to blast in your car", Can't Be Tamed represents a musical departure from her earlier work, which she had grown to feel uninspired by. As executive producers, Tish Cyrus and Jason Morey enlisted partners including Devrim Karaoglu, Marek Pompetzki, Rock Mafia, and John Shanks to achieve Cyrus' desired new sound. Their efforts resulted in a primarily dance-pop record, which Cyrus' record label acknowledged differed from the original plans for the project. Its lyrical themes revolve largely around breaking free of constraints and expectations, which are largely mentioned in the context of romantic relationships.

The effects of cannabis are caused by chemical compounds in the cannabis plant, including 400 different cannabinoids such as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC),[1] which allow its drug to have various psychological and physiological effects on the human body. Different plants of the genus Cannabis contain different and often unpredictable concentrations of THC and other cannabinoids and hundreds of other molecules that have a pharmacological effect,[2][3] so that the final net effect cannot reliably be foreseen. Cannabis is a well known drug which is known to alter the mind and body. It is also known as “pot”, “weed”, “ganja”, “marijuana” and many other slang terms. In this video, we have provided details on the composition of cannabis, its short and long term effects on brain and body, its advantages and disadvantages in medical and recreational, and its effect on individuals with different mental disorders. The video is intended to educate the general public about cannabis use and its effects. It is not intended to harm anyone’s emotions who is currently dealing with cannabis use problems. Jahan Marcu, Ph.D., is currently the Chief Science Officer at Americans for Safe Access (a medical cannabis advocacy non-profit) and Director of the Patient Focused Certification program, which is a health and safety oversight program that assesses regulatory compliance at cannabis operations. He is co-founder and past-chairman of the CANN subdivision of the Chemical Health and Safety Division (DCHAS) of the American Chemical Society. His is also on the Board of Directors of the International Association for Cannabinoids as Medicine. He has a background in analytical chemistry and molecular pharmacology, he received his Ph.D. for contributions in characterizing the structure and function of the cannabinoid receptors.

The therapeutic applications of medical cannabis and cannabinoid drugs is controversial, however the number of medical conditions in which cannabinoids and cannabis have shown promise as therapeutic treatments is expanding. The occurrence of side effects from cannabinoids is still a concern, especially with the wide variability in drug levels and response that has been observed. This is compounded by possible interactions with prescription drugs. Application of pharmacogenomics (PGx) and knowledge of drug-drug interactions could help patients and doctors navigate the complexities of combining prescription drugs and cannabis compounds. Genetic variants in several drug metabolizing enzymes may impact response to cannabinoids, including CYP3A4, CYP2C9, and CYP2C19. Furthermore, drug interactions caused by cannabinoids may also be mediated by drug metabolizing enzymes (e.g. CYP2C9, CYP2D6, CYP2B6, CYP1A1) and possibly drug transporters such as ABCB1. Understanding how commonly prescribed drugs and cannabinoids interact could help reduce risks associated with polydrug regimens. This presentation will discuss PGx testing for cannabis and potential impacts on commonly prescribed pharmaceuticals.

Different plants of the genus Cannabis contain different and often unpredictable concentrations of THC and other cannabinoids and hundreds of other molecules that have a pharmacological effect,[2][3] so that the final net effect cannot reliably be foreseen.
Acute effects while under the influence can sometimes include euphoria.[4][5] Although some assert that cannabidiol (CBD), another cannabinoid found in cannabis in varying amounts, may alleviate the adverse effects of THC that some users experience,[6] little is known about CBD effects on humans.[7][8]
In the United States, medical cannabis research is limited by federal restrictions.[9] Smoking any substance could possibly carry similar risks as smoking tobacco due to carcinogens in all smoke,[10] [11][12] and the ultimate conclusions on these factors are disputed.[13][14][15][16]
Cannabis use disorder is defined as a medical diagnosis in the fifth revision of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5).[17]

Jahan Marcu, Ph.D., is currently the Chief Science Officer at Americans for Safe Access (a medical cannabis advocacy non-profit) and Director of the Patient Focused Certification program, which is a health and safety oversight program that assesses regulatory compliance at cannabis operations. He is co-founder and past-chairman of the CANN subdivision of the Chemical Health and Safety Division (DCHAS) of the American Chemical Society. His is also on the Board of Directors of the International Association for Cannabinoids as Medicine. He has a background in analytical chemistry and molecular pharmacology, he received his Ph.D. for contributions in characterizing the structure and function of the cannabinoid receptors.

Webinar Abstract:
The therapeutic applications of medical cannabis and cannabinoid drugs is controversial, however the number of medical conditions in which cannabinoids and cannabis have shown promise as therapeutic treatments is expanding. The occurrence of side effects from cannabinoids is still a concern, especially with the wide variability in drug levels and response that has been observed. This is compounded by possible interactions with prescription drugs. Application of pharmacogenomics (PGx) and knowledge of drug-drug interactions could help patients and doctors navigate the complexities of combining prescription drugs and cannabis compounds. Genetic variants in several drug metabolizing enzymes may impact response to cannabinoids, including CYP3A4, CYP2C9, and CYP2C19. Furthermore, drug interactions caused by cannabinoids may also be mediated by drug metabolizing enzymes (e.g. CYP2C9, CYP2D6, CYP2B6, CYP1A1) and possibly drug transporters such as ABCB1. Understanding how commonly prescribed drugs and cannabinoids interact could help reduce risks associated with polydrug regimens. This presentation will discuss PGx testing for cannabis and potential impacts on commonly prescribed pharmaceuticals.

The effects of cannabis are caused by chemical compounds in the cannabis plant, including 400 different cannabinoids such as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC),[1] which allow its drug to have various psychological and physiological effects on the human body. Different plants of the genus Cannabis contain different and often unpredictable concentrations of THC and other cannabinoids and hundreds of other molecules that have a pharmacological effect,[2][3] so that the final net effect cannot reliably be foreseen.
Acute effects while under the influence can sometimes include euphoria.[4][5] Although some assert that cannabidiol (CBD), another cannabinoid found in cannabis in varying amounts, may alleviate the adverse effects of THC that some users experience,[6] little is known about CBD effects on humans.[7][8]
In the United States, medical cannabis research is limited by federal restrictions.[9] Smoking any substance could possibly carry similar risks as smoking tobacco due to carcinogens in all smoke,[10] [11][12] and the ultimate conclusions on these factors are disputed.[13][14][15][16]
Cannabis use disorder is defined as a medical diagnosis in the fifth revision of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5).[17]

Biographie:
Louis Gendron est professeur titulaire et directeur du département de pharmacologie-physiologie, ainsi que de la division Inflammation et douleur à l'Université de Sherbrooke. Il possède une vaste expertise dans le domaine des opioïdes et des mécanismes de contrôle de la douleur, de la pharmacologie in vitro et in vivo, de la signalisation cellulaire, ainsi que des modèles de douleur et du comportement animal.

Louis Gendron is Professor and Director of the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology, and of the Inflammation and Pain Division at the Université de Sherbrooke. He has extensive expertise in the field of opioids and pain control mechanisms, in vitro and in vivo pharmacology, cell signaling, as well as pain models and animal behavior.

Reefer (band)
Reefer is an alternative hip hop group based in Maui County, Hawaii. It consists of Nicholas Thorburn and Daddy Kev. The duo released the debut album, Reefer, on Alpha Pup Records in 2008. Their song, "May Baleen", was listed by Consequence of Sound as one of the Top 10 Subaquatic Tunes in 2009.
History
The Islands frontman Nicholas Thorburn and Los Angeles hip hop producer Daddy Kev recorded the debut album, Reefer, in Maui County, Hawaii. It was released on Alpha Pup Records in 2008. It featured remixes from Dntel and Flying Lotus. Rebecca Raber of Pitchfork Media described the album as "Thorburn's best album of the year."
