Several clergy members have made statements in the wake of the Orlando shooting that cite the reason why it isn’t so bad that the people killed were homosexual. One Catholic Bishop is challenging that notion, and calling out religion for fueling anti-gay rhetoric. Ana Kasparian, Sam Schacher, Kenny Hamilton, hosts of The Young Turks, break it down. “In the days since [shooter name] committed his horrific massacre at the Pulse nightclub, there has been much discussion about how much of a role [shooter name] Islamic faith played in motivating him to commit mass murder against a large group of gay men.
For one Florida Catholic bishop, there’s no question that [shooter name] was influenced by his religion to hate homosexuals — but he also says that this is a problem with many religions, including the Catholic faith.
“Sadly it is religion, including our own, which targets, mostly verbally, and also often breeds contempt for gays, lesbians and transgender people,” writes Bishop Robert Lynch on his personal blog. “Attacks today on LGBT men and women often plant the seed of contempt, then hatred, which can ultimately lead to violence.”
It’s certainly true that many Christians in the United States preach hatred and intolerance of homosexuals — in fact, Arizona-based preacher Steven Anderson openly celebrated the Orlando massacre on the grounds that “there’s 50 less pedophiles in this world.”

A bishop (English derivation of the New Testament Greek επίσκοπος episcopos "overseer, guardian") is an ordained or consecrated member of the Christian clergy who is generally entrusted with a position of authority and oversight. Within the Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, Anglican, Old Catholic, Independent Catholic Churches, and in the Assyrian Church of the East, bishops claim apostolic succession, a direct historical lineage dating back to the original Twelve Apostles. Within these churches, bishops are seen as those who posess the full priesthood and can ordain clergy including other bishops. Some Protestant churches including the Lutheran and Methodist churches have bishops serving similar functions as well, though not always understood to be within apostolic succession in the same way. It is the one ordained deacon, priest and then bishop who is understood to hold the fullness of the (ministerial) priesthood, given responsibility by Christ to govern, teach and sanctify the Body of Christ, members of the Faithful. Priests, deacons, and lay ministers cooperate and assist their bishop(s) in shepherding a flock.

In a trial against her under English law, she can't be forced to tell about her divine visions she has had continuously since childhood. Being condemned of witchcraft and being considered as relapsed heretic, she is sentenced to death. Jeanne d'Arc is burnt alive in the marketplace of Rouen on May 30th, 1431, at only 19 years of age.

“In the days since [shooter name] committed his horrific massacre at the Pulse nightclub, there has been much discussion about how much of a role [shooter name] Islamic faith played in motivating him to commit mass murder against a large group of gay men.
For one Florida Catholic bishop, there’s no question that [shooter name] was influenced by his religion to hate homosexuals — but he also says that this is a problem with many religions, including the Catholic faith.
“Sadly it is religion, including our own, which targets, mostly verbally, and also often breeds contempt for gays, lesbians and transgender people,” writes Bishop Robert Lynch on his personal blog. “Attacks today on LGBT men and women often plant the seed of contempt, then hatred, which can ultimately lead to violence.”
It’s certainly true that many Christians in the United States preach hatred and intolerance of homosexuals — in fact, Arizona-based preacher Steven Anderson openly celebrated the Orlando massacre on the grounds that “there’s 50 less pedophiles in this world.”

Several clergy members have made statements in the wake of the Orlando shooting that cite the reason why it isn’t so bad that the people killed were homosexual. One Catholic Bishop is challenging that notion, and calling out religion for fueling anti-gay rhetoric. Ana Kasparian, Sam Schacher, Kenny Hamilton, hosts of The Young Turks, break it down. “In the days since [shooter name] committed his horrific massacre at the Pulse nightclub, there has been much discussion about how much of a role [shooter name] Islamic faith played in motivating him to commit mass murder against a large group of gay men.
For one Florida Catholic bishop, there’s no question that [shooter name] was influenced by his religion to hate homosexuals — but he also says that this is a problem with many religions, including the Catholic faith.
“Sadly it is religion, including our own, which targets, mostly verbally, and also often breeds contempt for gays, lesbians and transgender people,” writes Bishop Robert Lynch on his personal blog. “Attacks today on LGBT men and women often plant the seed of contempt, then hatred, which can ultimately lead to violence.”
It’s certainly true that many Christians in the United States preach hatred and intolerance of homosexuals — in fact, Arizona-based preacher Steven Anderson openly celebrated the Orlando massacre on the grounds that “there’s 50 less pedophiles in this world.”
