Christopher Neame (born 12 September 1947) is an English actor.
Neame's film credits include appearances in two Hammer Horror films: Lust for a Vampire (1971) and Dracula AD 1972 (1972), as well as No Blade of Grass (1970), Steel Dawn (1987), D.O.A. (1988), Bloodstone (1988), the James Bond film Licence to Kill (1989), Ghostbusters II (1989), Edge of Honor (1991), Suburban Commando (1991), Hellbound (1994), Ground Zero (2000) and The Prestige (2006).
He is known to television viewers in the United Kingdom and abroad for a number of roles. In 1975 he played German Kaiser Wilhelm II in the ITV 13 part drama series, Edward the Seventh. Neame also featured in two BBC dramas dealing with the Second World War - Lieutenant Dick Player in Colditz (1972–74). In the TV film A Point in Time (1973), Neame became one of the first male actors to appear nude on the small screen.
Neame played a similar character to Player, Flight Lieutenant John Curtis, in the first series of another Second World War drama, Secret Army (1977). He also made a guest appearance in another BBC period drama When the Boat Comes In. In 1981 portraying Robin Cunningham. In 1982 he played Mark Anthony in the BBC series 'Cleopatra'. He played a psycho killer in an episode of MacGyver in 1985, and appeared in the TV movie sequel The Great Escape II: The Untold Story in 1988. He is also known to have played the Dark Jedi Jerec in the Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II computer game. Neame played the villain Skagra in the unfinished Doctor Who serial Shada in 1979.
Christopher Elwin Neame (24 December 1942 – 12 June 2011) was a British film producer and screenwriter. He was the son of film director Ronald Neame and of Beryl Heanly. Neame was the third of four generations of the Neame family in the film business.
He was born in Windsor, Berkshire and educated at the King's School, Canterbury.
Neame's credits as a producer include a number of UK TV series and films, such as Danger UXB, The Knowledge (BAFTA nominated), The Flame Trees of Thika, The Irish R.M. and Soldier, Soldier. His screenplay credits include Graham Greene’s Monsignor Quixote, which he also produced, and which received Christopher Award and BAFTA nominations. He later adapted Monsignor Quixote for the stage. He also wrote the screenplay of H.E. Bates’s Feast of July.
In 2003 his memoir, Rungs On a Ladder, about his years with Hammer Films, was published. In 2004, he continued his life story in A Take on British TV Drama - Stories from the Golden Age and the following year, Principal Characters completed the trilogy.
