Scarlett Johansson is ending her relationship with a humanitarian group after being criticized over her support for an Israeli company that operates in the West Bank.
A statement released by Johansson's spokesman Wednesday said the 29-year-old actress has "a fundamental difference of opinion" with Oxfam International because the humanitarian group opposes all trade from Israeli settlements, saying they are illegal and deny Palestinian rights.
"Scarlett Johansson has respectfully decided to end her ambassador role with Oxfam after eight years," the statement said. "She and Oxfam have a fundamental difference of opinion in regards to the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement. She is very proud of her accomplishments and fundraising efforts during her tenure with Oxfam."

Earlier this month, "The Avengers" and "Her" actress signed on as the first global brand ambassador of SodaStream International Ltd., and she's set to appear in an ad for the at-home soda maker during the Super Bowl on Feb. 2.
SodaStream has come under fire from pro-Palestinian activists for maintaining a large factory in an Israeli settlement in the West Bank, a territory captured by Israel in 1967 and claimed by the Palestinians.
In response to the criticism, Johansson said last week she was a "supporter of economic cooperation and social interaction between a democratic Israel and Palestine."

Oxfam took issue with Johansson, noting it was "considering the implications of her new statement and what it means for Ms. Johansson's role as an Oxfam global ambassador."
Johansson had served as a global ambassador for Oxfam since 2007, raising funds and promoting awareness about global poverty. In her role as an Oxfam ambassador, she traveled to India, Sri Lanka and Kenya to highlight the impact of traumatic disasters and chronic poverty.
Oxfam representatives did not immediately return messages seeking comment.

STORYLINE:
US Commerce Secretary Don Evans on Tuesday urged China to step up action to protect patents and other intellectual property, saying violations hurt both foreign businesses and Chinese companies that try to compete abroad.
Evans was speaking during a four-day visit to China where he was joined by US Labour Secretary Elaine Chao.
China's thriving industry in product piracy routinely violates copyrights, trademarks and patents on movies, designer clothes and other goods, despite promises by Beijing to crack down.
But despite the tough talk on those issues, and worries that US jobs are being lost as factories move production to China, Elaine Chao highlighted the mutual advantages of increasing trade with China.
On Tuesday a trade delegation headed by Evans and Chao visited an auto parts factory run by Wisconsin-based Johnson Controls Inc.
The factory, which supplies seats and other auto interior components to Beijing Hyundai Motors Co., uses products supplied by a number of US manufacturers, including Dow Chemical Co. and Raytek Corp.
The four-day visit which began on Monday in the northeastern city of Harbin, comes amid a dispute over anti-dumping duties imposed by Washington on Chinese-made furniture, one of 17 US anti-dumping orders placed on Chinese products.
Chinese furniture makers have protested the duties of up to 198 percent on wooden beds, desks and other items, which were announced after a US Commerce Department ruling on Friday. They could take effect next week.
Evans urged Beijing to help "break down trade barriers", which he said contribute to America's chronic trade deficit with China.

STORYLINE:
John Demjanjuk, a retired US auto worker who was convicted of being a guard at the Nazis' Sobibor death camp despite steadfastly maintaining over three decades of legal battles that he had been mistaken for someone else, died on Saturday, his son told The Associated Press.
He was 91.
Demjanjuk, convicted in May of 28,060 counts of being an accessory to murder and sentenced to five years in prison, died a free man in a nursing home in the southern Bavarian town of Bad Feilnbach.
He had been released pending his appeal.
John Demjanjuk Jr. said in a telephone interview from Ohio that his father died in the night of natural causes.
Demjanjuk had terminal bone marrow disease, chronic kidney disease and other ailments.
It was not yet known whether he would be brought back to the US For burial.
Ukrainian-born Demjanjuk had steadfastly denied any involvement in the Nazi Holocaust since the first accusations were levied against him more than 30 years ago.
His conviction helped set new German legal precedent, being the first time someone was convicted solely on the basis of serving as a camp guard, with no evidence of being involved in a specific killing.
Despite his conviction, his family never gave up its battle to have his US citizenship reinstated so that he could live out his final days nearby them in the Cleveland area.
One of their main arguments was that the defence had never seen a 1985 FBI document, uncovered in early 2011 by The Associated Press, calling into question the authenticity of a Nazi ID card used against him.
Demjanjuk maintained that he was a victim of the Nazis himself - first wounded as a Soviet soldier fighting German forces, then captured and held as a prisoner of war under brutal conditions.

Seth MacFarlane
Seth Woodbury MacFarlane (/ˈsɛθ ˈwʊdbɛri məkˈfɑːrlɪn/; born October 26, 1973) is an American television producer, filmmaker, actor and singer, working primarily in animation and comedy, as well as live-action and other genres. He is the creator of the TV series Family Guy (1999–2003, 2005–present), co-creator of the TV series American Dad! (2005–present) and The Cleveland Show (2009–13), and writer-director of the films Ted (2012), its sequel Ted 2 (2015), and A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014).
MacFarlane is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, where he studied animation. Recruited to Hollywood, he was an animator and writer for Hanna-Barbera for several television series, including Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken, Dexter's Laboratory, I Am Weasel, and his own Family Guy-like "prequel", Larry & Steve. He was 91. Demjanjuk, convicted in May of 28,060 counts of being an accessory to murder and sentenced to five years in prison, died a free man in a nursing home in the southern Bavarian town of Bad Feilnbach. He had been released pending his appeal. John Demjanjuk Jr. said in a telephone interview from Ohio that his father died in the night of natural causes. Demjanjuk had terminal bone marrow disease, chronic kidney disease and other ailments. It was not yet known whether he would be brought back to the US For burial. Ukrainian-born Demjanjuk had steadfastly denied any involvement in the Nazi Holocaust since the first accusations were levied against him more than 30 years ago. His conviction helped set new German legal precedent, being the first time someone was convicted solely on the basis of serving as a camp guard, with no evidence of being involved in a specific killing. Despite his conviction, his family never gave up its battle to have his US citizenship reinstated so that he could live out his final days nearby them in the Cleveland area. Scarlett Johansson is ending her relationship with a humanitarian group after being criticized over her support for an Israeli company that operates in the West Bank.
A statement released by Johansson's spokesman Wednesday said the 29-year-old actress has "a fundamental difference of opinion" with Oxfam International because the humanitarian group opposes all trade from Israeli settlements, saying they are illegal and deny Palestinian rights.
"Scarlett Johansson has respectfully decided to end her ambassador role with Oxfam after eight years," the statement said. "She and Oxfam have a fundamental difference of opinion in regards to the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement. She is very proud of her accomplishments and fundraising efforts during her tenure with Oxfam."

Earlier this month, "The Avengers" and "Her" actress signed on as the first global brand ambassador of SodaStream International Ltd., and she's set to appear in an ad for the at-home soda maker during the Super Bowl on Feb. 2.
SodaStream has come under fire from pro-Palestinian activists for maintaining a large factory in an Israeli settlement in the West Bank, a territory captured by Israel in 1967 and claimed by the Palestinians.
In response to the criticism, Johansson said last week she was a "supporter of economic cooperation and social interaction between a democratic Israel and Palestine."

Oxfam took issue with Johansson, noting it was "considering the implications of her new statement and what it means for Ms. Johansson's role as an Oxfam global ambassador."

Oxfam representatives did not immediately return messages seeking comment.

US Commerce Secretary Don Evans on Tuesday urged China to step up action to protect patents and other intellectual property, saying violations hurt both foreign businesses and Chinese companies that try to compete abroad.
Evans was speaking during a four-day visit to China where he was joined by US Labour Secretary Elaine Chao.
China's thriving industry in product piracy routinely violates copyrights, trademarks and patents on movies, designer clothes and other goods, despite promises by Beijing to crack down.
But despite the tough talk on those issues, and worries that US jobs are being lost as factories move production to China, Elaine Chao highlighted the mutual advantages of increasing trade with China.
On Tuesday a trade delegation headed by Evans and Chao visited an auto parts factory run by Wisconsin-based Johnson Controls Inc.
The factory, which supplies seats and other auto interior components to Beijing Hyundai Motors Co., uses products supplied by a number of US manufacturers, including Dow Chemical Co. and Raytek Corp.
The four-day visit which began on Monday in the northeastern city of Harbin, comes amid a dispute over anti-dumping duties imposed by Washington on Chinese-made furniture, one of 17 US anti-dumping orders placed on Chinese products.
Chinese furniture makers have protested the duties of up to 198 percent on wooden beds, desks and other items, which were announced after a US Commerce Department ruling on Friday. They could take effect next week.
Evans urged Beijing to help "break down trade barriers", which he said contribute to America's chronic trade deficit with China.

John Demjanjuk, a retired US auto worker who was convicted of being a guard at the Nazis' Sobibor death camp despite steadfastly maintaining over three decades of legal battles that he had been mistaken for someone else, died on Saturday, his son told The Associated Press.
He was 91.
Demjanjuk, convicted in May of 28,060 counts of being an accessory to murder and sentenced to five years in prison, died a free man in a nursing home in the southern Bavarian town of Bad Feilnbach.
He had been released pending his appeal.
John Demjanjuk Jr. said in a telephone interview from Ohio that his father died in the night of natural causes.
Demjanjuk had terminal bone marrow disease, chronic kidney disease and other ailments.
It was not yet known whether he would be brought back to the US For burial.
Ukrainian-born Demjanjuk had steadfastly denied any involvement in the Nazi Holocaust since the first accusations were levied against him more than 30 years ago.
His conviction helped set new German legal precedent, being the first time someone was convicted solely on the basis of serving as a camp guard, with no evidence of being involved in a specific killing.
Despite his conviction, his family never gave up its battle to have his US citizenship reinstated so that he could live out his final days nearby them in the Cleveland area.
One of their main arguments was that the defence had never seen a 1985 FBI document, uncovered in early 2011 by The Associated Press, calling into question the authenticity of a Nazi ID card used against him.
Demjanjuk maintained that he was a victim of the Nazis himself - first wounded as a Soviet soldier fighting German forces, then captured and held as a prisoner of war under brutal conditions.

STORYLINE:
John Demjanjuk, a retired US auto worker who was convicted of being a guard at the Nazis' Sobibor death camp despite steadfastly maintaining over three decades of legal battles that he had been mistaken for someone else, died on Saturday, his son told The Associated Press.
He was 91.
Demjanjuk, convicted in May of 28,060 counts of being an accessory to murder and sentenced to five years in prison, died a free man in a nursing home in the southern Bavarian town of Bad Feilnbach.
He had been released pending his appeal.
John Demjanjuk Jr. said in a telephone interview from Ohio that his father died in the night of natural causes.
Demjanjuk had terminal bone marrow disease, chronic kidney disease and other ailments.
It was not yet known whether he would be brought back to the US For burial.
Ukrainian-born Demjanjuk had steadfastly denied any involvement in the Nazi Holocaust since the first accusations were levied against him more than 30 years ago.
His conviction helped set new German legal precedent, being the first time someone was convicted solely on the basis of serving as a camp guard, with no evidence of being involved in a specific killing.
Despite his conviction, his family never gave up its battle to have his US citizenship reinstated so that he could live out his final days nearby them in the Cleveland area.
One of their main arguments was that the defence had never seen a 1985 FBI document, uncovered in early 2011 by The Associated Press, calling into question the authenticity of a Nazi ID card used against him.
Demjanjuk maintained that he was a victim of the Nazis himself - first wounded as a Soviet soldier fighting German forces, then captured and held as a prisoner of war under brutal conditions.
