The Royal Mint is the body permitted to manufacture, or mint, the coins of the United Kingdom. The Royal Mint originated over 1,100 years ago, producing coins for England and eventually Great Britain. Since 2010 it has operated as Royal Mint Ltd, a company owned by HM Treasury, under an exclusive contract to supply all coinage for the UK. Royal Mint Ltd is 100% owned by HM Treasury, though the latter delegates shareholder responsibilities to the Shareholder Executive.
As well as minting coins for the UK, The Royal Mint also mints and exports coins to many other countries and produces military medals, commemorative medals, and other such items for governments, schools and businesses, being known as the world's leading exporting mint. Responsibility for the security of the site falls to the Ministry of Defence Police, who provide an armed contingent.
In 1968 The Royal Mint began to move its operations from Tower Hill in the City of London to Llantrisant, Mid Glamorgan, Wales, and has operated on a single site in Llantrisant since 1980. At Llantrisant it holds an extensive collection of coins dating from the 16th century onwards, housed in eighty cabinets made by Elizabeth II's cabinet maker, Hugh Swann. The site occupies 38 acres (15 ha) and employs over 900 people.

In 2016, eight UK coins commemorate special events and anniversaries, including; Her Majesty The Queen's 90th birthday, the 400th anniversary of the birth of William Shakespeare, the 150th anniversary of the birth of Beatrix Potter, Team GB's participation at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, the 350th anniversary of the Great Fire of London, the 950th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings and a £2 coin continues the First World War centenary commemorations, honouring the role of the Army in the First World War.

The Royal Mint produces three types of uncirculated commemorative coin finish: Proof, Brilliant Uncirculated and Bullion. Proof coins are the highest standard of commemorative coin produced by The Royal Mint. Brilliant Uncirculated coins have a higher standard of finish than Bullion coins, without the extra finishing and detail provided on Proof coins. Bullion coins have a similar standard of finish to circulating coins. Find out more in this video. http://www.royalmint.com/striking-standards

Discover the unexpected wonder of coins at The Royal Mint Experience!
The Royal Mint are trying to hawk off shitty 2012 Olympics coins to the public. The fact is simple, the coins are pretty worthless as on one side is the Queen's head - an insult to those that hate the institution of monarchy (and is not even an up to date image of the Queen)..... the other side is the shittty 2012 logo. Faced with such ugly designs, no wonder they are having trouble selling the crap coins. Recorded from BBC Breakfast News, 14 February 2011.

Please support and visit channel sponsor The Silver Forum at http://thesilverforum.com for the best in silver and gold discussion. The xx for xx coin program has been criticised for being a devious money spinner for certain national mints for example Royal Mint. By charging a high nominal charge for a small amount of precious metal minted to low standard the mints seek to maximise profit from collectors in a cynical way. These coins are ostensibly "legal tender" which has a narrow legal meaning that most collectors would not be aware of. People buy these coins thinking that they can be exchanged easily and this has been the case for the most part until now. A few days ago the Royal Mint wrote to banks advising them not to accept "legal tender" commemorative coins and referring them back...

Morocco is fulfulling our dreams about the Tales of One Thousand and One Nights even today. It is an exotic and romantic country with the thousand miracles or the Arab world; old cities, mosques, bazaars, natural beauties from palm tree gardens to sand dunes and from the frosty tops of the Atlas mountains to the beaches of Agadir. There are the oases in the Sahara, the colorful buildings of Marrakesh, the Anti-Atlas’s green valleys and the forts of the Foreign Legion. The royal cities are all wonderful: Casablanca, well known from the famous movie with the same title, the capital, Rabat, the ancient Fes, and the elegant cultural centre, Marrakesh. The Djemaa El Fna square has a unique atmosphere, where magicians, henna painters, acrobats, belly dancers, tale tellers from the Sahara, healer...
A Travel Guide to Jordan Jordan is an extraordinary country. Although small in size and young in terms of nation state, it is blessed with some of the regions most revered historical treasures, some of its most spectacular scenery and some of its kindest and most hospitable people. It has a delicious cuisine, a good tourist infrastructure – with some great accommodation and knowledgeable guides – and under the much respected royal family, a stable government. Throughout its short history, Jordan has bucked the trends of its neighbours; by welcoming the foreign traveller with open arms, and gallons of sweet mint tea, in many ways it continues to do so. Amman is a lively, liberal city, modern in character, yet with one foot rooted firmly in the past. With a history dating back to Neolithic...

British Britannia Silver Coin: https://www.moneymetals.com/british-britannia-1-troy-oz-999-pure/193?utm_source=silo&utm;_medium=youtube&utm;_campaign=silver-coins The British Royal Mint has been operating nearly continuously for 1,100 years - producing beautiful coins for England and, later, Great Britain. The silver Britannia is among the more recent issues. The Royal Mint began production in 1997, following the success of the gold Britannia launched 10 years earlier. This classic design is recognized and respected across the world as a symbol of beauty, reliability and strength. Little wonder then that the silver Britannia, with such a depth of history behind it, has been a popular choice with bullion investors ever since its introduction.. The coins are well crafted and offer the trust ...

This had been bugging me and had to get it off my chest.
In 2008 the Royal Mint's Olympic Coin Programme shared its vision to create the first ever UK coin weighing one Kilogram. To do this required a change to UK Legislation, specifically an amendment to the 40-year-old 1971 Coinage Act, a clause which limited the weight to which UK coins could be made. The launch of these two magnificent UK kilo coins, the first kilo coins of the realm, is the culmination of a journey which saw the introduction of this new primary legislation, itself further evidence that at the highest levels the UK not only supports the aspirations of London 2012, but is prepared to make legislative history in the process. This video discusses the 10-23-13, Royal Prince George's Christening, and the Commemorative coin, stamped in his honor, by the Royal Mint. Attention should be paid to the final coded segment of this video where the words, "of Cambridge" are viewed and which is the last item discussed about the commemorative coded coin. That final and last coded segment shows us the coded future dates of 10-27 through 10-29. Since 27 adds to 9 and 29 adds to 11, this number combination creates the numbers needed to see a 911 event or false flag event has been potentially planned. This last portion of the video is, in my opinion, the more important element to come from observing the Royal Prince George Christening and the Commemorative coin, issued in his honor. I would ask that you pay attention, or at...
