Java SE 8 (JDK 8) Introduced a fundamentally new way of programming in Java with the introduction of Lambda expressions.
Lambda provides a simple way to pass functionality as an argument to another method, such as what action should be taken when someone clicks a button, or how to sort a set of names. Lambda expressions enable you to do this, to treat functionality as method argument, or code as data.

JDK & Eclipse | A Step-by-Step Tutorial on How to Download and Install JDK 8 (Java SE 8) and Eclipse on windows
This “how to’ video demonstrates how to download and install Java using easy to follow step-by-step instructions. You might have to pause this video from time to time to follow along.
This video begins by showing how to install Java (JDK). As shown in the video, we will search for the phrase “Download Java” in Google and click on the Oracle.com link which says “Java SE downloads”. This action will take you to the Oracle website which will have an option to download “Java Platform, Standard Edition”. On the next page, you have to select the download link based on the operating system you are using. For Windows operating system, there are two links. Select appropriate link based on whether you have 32 bit or 64 bit operating system. If you don’t know whether you have 32 bit or 64 bit operating system, this video shows you how to find that out.
Next, this video shows how to download Eclipse IDE. IDE stands for Integrated Development Environment. Professional Java developers always use IDE to develop and debug Java applications. It dramatically improve our performance and soothes out the learning curve of Java programming to a great extent. There are many Java IDEs out there. For example, Eclipse, NetBeans, intelliJ etc.
This video shows how download and install Eclipse. As shown in the video, go to Google and search for “download eclipse”. Click on the eclipse.org link which says “Eclipse downloads”. And select “Eclipse IDE for Java Developers”. On the next page you have to choose the download link based on what operating system you are using. Download and save eclipse to your local hard drive.
Eclipse downloads as a compressed (zip) file. So you need to extract the content of this zip file. If you already have a software to unzip the file, go ahead and unzip it. If you don’t have a software to unzip it, you can find some free utility online like 7-zip or WinRar. When it is unzipped, you will see a new folder named “eclipse”. Inside that folder there is an executable file named “eclipse”. When you double click eclipse.exe file. It will ask you to select your workspace. Your workspace is where eclipse will store all your Java programs.
So in this video we have gone through a step-by-step tutorial on how to download and install JDK 8 (Java SE 8) and eclipse on our local computer to set up our Java development environment

Java Platform, Standard Edition or Java SE is a widely used platform for development and deployment of portable code for desktop and server environments. Java SE uses the object-oriented Java programming language. It is part of the Java software platform family. Java SE defines a wide range of general purpose APIs – such as Java APIs for the Java Class Library – and also includes the Java Language Specification and the Java Virtual Machine Specification. One of the most well-known implementations of Java SE is Oracle Corporation's Java Development Kit (JDK).
Nomenclature, standards and specifications
Java SE was known as Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition or J2SE from version 1.2 until version 1.5. The "SE" is used to distinguish the base platform from the Enterprise Edition (Java EE) and Micro Edition (Java ME) platforms. The "2" was originally intended to emphasize the major changes introduced in version 1.2, but was removed in version 1.6. The naming convention has been changed several times over the Java version history. Starting with J2SE 1.4 (Merlin), Java SE has been developed under the Java Community Process, which produces descriptions of proposed and final specifications for the Java platform called Java Specification Requests (JSR). JSR 59 was the umbrella specification for J2SE 1.4 and JSR 176 specified J2SE 5.0 (Tiger). Java SE 6 (Mustang) was released under JSR 270.

JDK & Eclipse | A Step-by-Step Tutorial on How to Download and Install JDK 8 (Java SE 8) and Eclipse on windows
This “how to’ video demonstrates how to download and install Java using easy to follow step-by-step instructions. You might have to pause this video from time to time to follow along.
This video begins by showing how to install Java (JDK). As shown in the video, we will search for the phrase “Download Java” in Google and click on the Oracle.com link which says “Java SE downloads”. This action will take you to the Oracle website which will have an option to download “Java Platform, Standard Edition”. On the next page, you have to select the download link based on the operating system you are using. For Windows operating system, there are two links. Select appropriate link based on whether you have 32 bit or 64 bit operating system. If you don’t know whether you have 32 bit or 64 bit operating system, this video shows you how to find that out.
Next, this video shows how to download Eclipse IDE. IDE stands for Integrated Development Environment. Professional Java developers always use IDE to develop and debug Java applications. It dramatically improve our performance and soothes out the learning curve of Java programming to a great extent. There are many Java IDEs out there. For example, Eclipse, NetBeans, intelliJ etc.
This video shows how download and install Eclipse. As shown in the video, go to Google and search for “download eclipse”. Click on the eclipse.org link which says “Eclipse downloads”. And select “Eclipse IDE for Java Developers”. On the next page you have to choose the download link based on what operating system you are using. Download and save eclipse to your local hard drive.
Eclipse downloads as a compressed (zip) file. So you need to extract the content of this zip file. If you already have a software to unzip the file, go ahead and unzip it. If you don’t have a software to unzip it, you can find some free utility online like 7-zip or WinRar. When it is unzipped, you will see a new folder named “eclipse”. Inside that folder there is an executable file named “eclipse”. When you double click eclipse.exe file. It will ask you to select your workspace. Your workspace is where eclipse will store all your Java programs.
So in this video we have gone through a step-by-step tutorial on how to download and install JDK 8 (Java SE 8) and eclipse on our local computer to set up our Java development environment
