Mark St. John

Mark Leslie Norton (February 7, 1956 – April 5, 2007), better known as Mark St. John, was a guitarist best known for his brief work with the rock band Kiss from April to November 1984. He played on the band's Animalize album and a few dates on the subsequent tour before being replaced by Bruce Kulick.

Career

Prior to Kiss

Before joining Kiss, St. John was a well known and respected teacher and guitarist for the Southern California cover band Front Page. After leaving Kiss, he formed a band called White Tiger, featuring David Donato (lead vocals), his brother Michael Norton (bass/backing vocals), and Brian James Fox (drums). Demos that the band had recorded with producer Andy Johns and guitarist Neil Citron, prior to Mark joining, apparently led to Donato's equally short tenure with another legendary band, Black Sabbath.

Kiss

St. John was only with Kiss a short time, but he was featured on the album Animalize, the second album of the "unmasked" period. This turned out to be one of Kiss's most successful studio albums, aside from those made by the original lineup. St. John's only video appearance with Kiss is in the video for the hit single "Heaven's on Fire".

John Mark

John Mark is named in the Acts of the Apostles as an assistant accompanying Paul and Barnabas on their missionary journeys. Traditionally he is regarded as identical with Mark the Evangelist.

Biblical account

Several times the Acts of the Apostles mentions a certain "John, who was also called Mark" or simply "John":

And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem when they had fulfilled their mission, bringing with them John whose other name was Mark.

When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. And they had John to assist them.

Now Paul and his company set sail from Paphos, and came to Perga in Pamphylia. And John left them and returned to Jerusalem; but they passed on from Perga and came to Antioch of Pisidia.

And Barnabas wanted to take with them John called Mark. But Paul thought best not to take with them one who had withdrawn from them in Pamphylia, and had not gone with them to the work. And there arose a sharp contention, so that they separated from each other; Barnabas took Mark with him and sailed away to Cyprus, but Paul chose Silas and departed, being commended by the brethren to the grace of the Lord.

Mark McMillan

Mark McMillan (born 17 May 1983 in Stirling, Scotland) is a former rugby union player who played for Bath Rugby, London Wasps and Leeds Carnegie in the Aviva Premiership, and Glasgow Warriors in the RaboDirect Pro12. During his time at Wasps, he helped them win both the Heineken Cup and the English Premiership and at Leeds the 2004–05 Powergen Cup, when he came on as a replacement.

McMillan's position of choice is as at scrum-half.

John Mark McMillan

John Mark McMillan (born November 27, 1979) is a songwriter and musician within the Christian music industry.

Career

In 2002, he released his debut album Hope Anthology, Volume 1. In 2005 he released The Song Inside the Sounds of Breaking Down, which included the track "How He Loves". The song was successful despite the album's independent release, and has been covered by several well-known artists within the Christian music industry including the David Crowder Band. The song has sentimental meaning for McMillan, who wrote it following the death of a dear friend who, during a church staff meeting, prayed out loud "If it would shake the youth of a nation, I will give my life today." McMillan was awakened in the middle of the same night by a phone call; the friend had been killed in a car crash. The song took more than a year to surface in the Christian mainstream, but has gone on to become a commonly played worship song on Christian radio and throughout church organizations.
