A Mandurah man is in hospital in a critical condition after allegedly being coward punched at Crown Perth's casino on Saturday night while celebrating a bucks night.

According to witnesses, the young father, 30, was the victim of a one-punch attack at the casino's food court around 7.30pm.

A friend of Mr Dowell, who WAtoday has chosen not to name, labelled the alleged attack as "cowardly" and said he was the father to an 11-month-old son and due to be married soon.

"They are such a beautiful young family about to be married," she said.

"He was on a mates fishing trip / bucks do and they went to the casino after... he just wanted to get home to his family."

Another of the Mr Dowell's friends appealed to boxer Danny Green, who is the ambassador against one punch coward attacks, after the incident.

"Hi Danny, a good friend and team mate of ours last night was 'struck with a cowards punch' last night at the Crown Casino Perth and is now fighting for his life," he said.

"We were wondering if you could use your cowards punch campaign to send his young wife and son some much needed words of support."

Another friend on Sunday described Mr Dowell as a "cracking young fella".

"I am sure all of us at SICC will be praying or using their individual faiths to wish you strength and fight thru [sic] the next 72 hours. Fight brother," he said.

Police have charged a 23-year-old Waikiki man, who was not known to Mr Dowell, with grievous bodily harm.

Crown Perth has been contacted for comment.

Mr Dowell's local cricket club is accepting donations to help his young family during this difficult time.

A GoFundMe page has also been set up.
