Mankind may refer to:
Mankind is a massively multiplayer online real-time strategy (MMORTS) computer game.
Mankind was initially published in December 1998 by the French computer game developer Vibes Online Gaming. After the transfer of Vibes to its Asian partner, the game was bought by O2 Online Entertainment Ltd. and while still active today, is being primarily maintained by Quantex since 2008.
Estimates of the number of active players are hard to come by - while the official site claimed both 145,000 and "more than 200,000" players on the same page, these figures likely included inactive as well as trial accounts. According to an interview with an O2OE spokesman, just about 3,000 accounts were active anymore in May 2003.
During the game rework of Quantex in early 2009, the graphic engine of Mankind got fully ported to DirectX 9 and full support for Windows Vista got implemented. Further, dozens of small improvements got implemented.
In December 2015 the Mankind servers were shut down.
Mankind is an album by American nu metal band Factory 81. Originally released in late 1999 via Medea Records, the album marked the band's debut on the Detroit independent music scene, and its 2000 reissue on Motown/Universal introduced the band to a national audience.
The album, which derives influence from hardcore, metal, jazz, fusion and world music is the band's only album.
The album was self-produced by the band under the title Manking. A Detroit promoter sent out advertisements with the incorrect title Mankind instead. The band liked the sound of this title and decided that since they had not printed any materials with their original title, they changed the name of the album.
Allmusic described Mankind as a fusion of "stomp-paced metal" and "'new school' hardcore". Drummer Andy Cyrulnik cited genres such as jazz, fusion, and world music, and the progressive metal band Tool as influences on his drumming style.
Mankind was originally issued on Medea Records in 1999. It was reissued by Orchard in 2000 and Uptown/Universal on October 3, 2000. In 2001, the album was reissued by the independent record label Mojo Music.

In 1957, Irwin Allen ("The Towering Inferno") produced a film entitled "The Story Of Mankind" that featured a star-studded cast showcasing centuries of history wrapped around a story involving the fate of mankind. This film marked the final appearance of The Marx Brothers together on the silver screen (albeit separately). In this scene, the discoveries of man are discussed. Used as an example is the moment when Sir Isaac Newton meets an apple and ponders gravity. Who better to play this than Harpo Marx? Interesting note: from the beginning of his stage career, Harpo wore a red wig. When he began making movies, he switched to a blonde wig because Harpo wanted to make his hair look red on B&W; film. This was the only time Harpo was filmed with his red wig in color!

In this scene, the transaction of island of Manhattan by Peter Minuit is used as a demonstration of man's deceptive nature. And how, by showcasing Groucho as Minuit, does this work? The secret word is "odd". Interesting note: the Indian girl is played by Eden Hartford, Groucho's current spouse at the time. You bet your wife!

When you start to find, start to see the signs
Read between the lines
Then you start to learn, wheels start to turn
Fire burns
Tried to show you but you could not see me
Tried to tell you but you could not hear me, no
So I just let go
Then you realize all can't be defined
The questions in your mind
Then you open wide and see what's yet to come
Now it's only just begun
Tried to signal but you do not receive me
Tried the truth but you will not believe me, no
So I just let go
'Cause I can see the things I need to see
Come alive with energy
And I'm a big believer in mankind
Watch the world revolving, through my eyes
Watch the world evolving in my mind
When you start to learn, wheels start to turn
The fire burns
Then you open wide, see what's yet to come
And now it's only just begun
Tried to touch but I could not reach you
You hear the prayer but will you be preached to, no?
Watch the world revolving through my eyes
See the world evolving in my mind
And the world turns round and round
To the music and the sound
