A finales del siglo XIX en Filipinas, un pelotón español fue cercado en el pueblo de Baler por revolucionarios filipinos durante cerca de un año. En diciembre de 1898, con la firma del Tratado de París entre España y Estados Unidos, se ponía fin a la guerra entre ambos países y España cedía la soberanía sobre Filipinas a Estados Unidos. Este film cuenta la historia del pelotón, conocido como "Los últimos de Filipinas".

Si Conching Rosal ay ipinanganak sa San Jose, Batangas noong 1926. Nagpasimula siyang umawit ng solo noong siya'y anim na taong gulang pa lamang sa kanilang parokyang simbahan ng San Jose. Nag-aral siya ng pag-awit sa UST Conservatory of Music at doon niya naging kamag-aral at kaibigan si Sylvia La Torre.
Ipinagpatuloy niya sa Amerika ang pag-aaral sa pag-awit sa ilalim ni Dean Varchines, tanyag na tagapagturo sa mga mang-aawit ng Metropolitan Opera at New York Opera. Noong 1952 ay tinanggap niya ang karangalan at gantimpala buhat sa Elizalde Hour Talent Search. Nagsimula ang kanyang katanyagan bilang coloratura soprano sa pag-awit niya sa Operang 'Carmen'.
Si Conching Rosal ay isa sa mga dakilang soprano ng bansang Pilipinas na namayagpag sa loob ng tatlumpong taon. Ilan sa di malilimutang pag-ganap niya sa Teatro sa Pilipinas ay ang Operang 'Madame Butterly', 1967, ang 'Aida' at ang pag ganap niya bilang pangunahing aktres sa Zarzwela na 'Ang Kiri'. Pumanaw siya noong 1985 sa sakit na Cancer.
Maalala si Conching Rosal sa kanyang makabagbag damdaming pag-awit ng mga Kundiman tulad ng Huling Awit, Kundiman ng Luha, Ibong Sawi, Pakiusap, Alin Mang Lahi, Sa Iyo Inay, Hatinggabi, Mutya ng Pasig at marami pang iba na isinaplaka ng Villar Records . Ang kanyang boses soprano ay ginamit rin bilang Ibong Adarna na umaawit para makatulog ang sinumang makarinig noong 1972 para sa pelikulang Ang Hiwaga ng Ibong Adarna sa ilalim ng Roda Film Productions.

En 1898 se descandenó la llamada guerra "Hispanoamericana" entre los Estados Unidos y el Reino de España.
Cuba, llamada la Juana, inicio y final del Imperio Español, el imperio colonial más importante de la historia, que llevó cultura, educación y una lengua universal allende los mares, fue incapaz de gobernar adecuadamente los restos de la era colonial tras la pérdida de la mayoría de las tierras de ultramar tras la invasión napoleónica de España.
Cuba, siempre deseada por los Estados Unidos, y no siempre bien gestionada por España, a pesar de haber sido la primera autonomía de la historia española, vio la oportunidad de independizarse, aunque realmente sólo cambió de dueño.
En esta guerra se perdió también Puerto Rico, sin nunca haberse opuesto realmente a la soberanía española, y Filipinas, que salvo algunas importantes grandes ciudades, permanecía agreste y hostil a pesar de los tres siglos de dominación española.
Injusticias, corruptelas, abusos y pésima gestión se unen en la historia de España al Descubrimiento, a la cultura, la educación, las hazañas bélicas y a una religión y una lengua que siempre quedará en Hispanoamérica.
España perdió a sus hermanos del otro lado del mar, sin que nunca dejaran de enriquecerse juntos, de impregnarse de cultura y de asimilación (que no destrucción) de culturas y razas de una forma muy distinta a lo realizado por ingleses y posteriormente norteamericanos.
Muchos criticarán los abusos cometidos por España en aquellos siglos, las voces criollas e indígenas de muchas naciones lationamericanas muestran hoy día aparecen como contrapartida al puñado de indios supervivientes en Norteamérica, donde en la mayoría de los casos, sólo se evidencia el silencio de sus tumbas olvidadas.

Made in 1898, G.A. Smith's 'Santa Claus' is a film of considerable technical ambition and accomplishment for its period. It uses pioneering visual effects in its depiction of a visit from St. Nicholas.
A former magic lanternist and hypnotist, Smith was one of the first British film-makers to make extensive use of special effects to create fantastical scenes. It comes as little surprise that Smith corresponded with the French pioneer Georges Méliès at about this time, as the two men shared a common goal in terms of creating an authentic cinema of illusion. After hours of work, I finally finished this project, and I had a blast making it. I tried to stick to the original for as much as possible. There are some differences ofcourse, since not everything the real thing has is possible in the game. I'm aware that some of the track is incorrect, the last bend for example. The brakes at the end are normally at an angle, but that wasn't possible in the game. The drop is also not completely straight, and to fix it, I had to start over. Also the 2nd inversion isn't completely correct.
But besides that, I think it's pretty neat.

Een verhaal over hoogmoed, hebzucht en liefde. Avonturier Gustave logeert in een Brabantse herberg waar Jochem en Doortje werken. Op een dag helpt Jochem Gustave de gevaarlijke Zompige Heide oversteken, een gebied beheerst door de mythische Witte Wieven.
Wanneer Gustave bij een grot komt, waarschuwen deze wezens hem om niets mee te nemen. De hebzuchtige Gustave steekt toch een klompje goud in zijn zak. Jaren later keert hij terug als Baron Hooghmoed en bouwt een goudmijn. Jochem en Doortje raken erbij betrokken, waardoor hun vriendschap onder druk komt te staan.
De baron heeft mijnwerkers nodig en belooft de dorpsbewoners gouden bergen als ze de mijn ingaan. Maar iedereen die dat durft, komt lijkbleek naar boven… Wat is er gaande in de duistere dieptes van Baron 1898?

Subsequently, visitors roar around an Immelmann loop at 90 kilometres per hour, followed by a Zero-G roll during which visitors momentarily experience weightlessness and along with a Helix.

This early silent film was created/directed by Georges Méliès and was released in France under the name, "La lune à un mètre," in 1898.
In the film an astronomer is studying at his desk in an observatory. The devil appears, then a woman appears and makes the devil and herself vanish. The astronomer draws a globe on a blackboard which comes to life and starts to move on the blackboard. The astronomer then looks through a small telescope.
The moon appears as a large face and eats the astronomer's telescope. Men tumble from its mouth. Then the moon is back in the sky. The astronomer stands on a table, which disappears and he falls down.
The moon becomes a crescent. A spirit, in the form of a lady, appears from it. The astronomer chases her, but she eludes him. Now another figure stands in the crescent of the moon, before reclining into its C shape.
The moon appears as a large face again, and the astronomer jumps into its mouth and a woman and the devil appear again. The astronomer reappears sitting asleep in his chair.

Baron 1898 - Planet Coaster
After hours of work, I finally finished this project, and I had a blast making it. I tried to stick to the original for as much as possible. There are some differences ofcourse, since not everything the real thing has is possible in the game. I'm aware that some of the track is incorrect, the last bend for example. The brakes at the end are normally at an angle, but that wasn't possible in the game. The drop is also not completely straight, and to fix it, I had to start over. Also the 2nd inversion isn't completely correct. But besides that, I think it's pretty neat. Het verhaal achter Baron 1898 - Efteling
Een verhaal over hoogmoed, hebzucht en liefde. Avonturier Gustave logeert in een Brabantse herberg waar Jochem en Doortje werken. Op een dag helpt Jochem Gustave de gevaarlijke Zompige Heide oversteken, een gebied beheerst door de mythische Witte Wieven. Wanneer Gustave bij een grot komt, waarschuwen deze wezens hem om niets mee te nemen. De hebzuchtige Gustave steekt toch een klompje goud in zijn zak. This early silent film was created/directed by Georges Méliès and was released in France under the name, "La lune à un mètre," in 1898. In the film an astronomer is studying at his desk in an observatory. The devil appears, then a woman appears and makes the devil and herself vanish. The astronomer draws a globe on a blackboard which comes to life and starts to move on the blackboard. The astronomer then looks through a small telescope. The moon appears as a large face and eats the astronomer's telescope. Men tumble from its mouth. Then the moon is back in the sky. Nag-aral siya ng pag-awit sa UST Conservatory of Music at doon niya naging kamag-aral at kaibigan si Sylvia La Torre.
Ipinagpatuloy niya sa Amerika ang pag-aaral sa pag-awit sa ilalim ni Dean Varchines, tanyag na tagapagturo sa mga mang-aawit ng Metropolitan Opera at New York Opera. Noong 1952 ay tinanggap niya ang karangalan at gantimpala buhat sa Elizalde Hour Talent Search. Nagsimula ang kanyang katanyagan bilang coloratura soprano sa pag-awit niya sa Operang 'Carmen'.

Ilan sa di malilimutang pag-ganap niya sa Teatro sa Pilipinas ay ang Operang 'Madame Butterly', 1967, ang 'Aida' at ang pag ganap niya bilang pangunahing aktres sa Zarzwela na 'Ang Kiri'. Pumanaw siya noong 1985 sa sakit na Cancer.
Maalala si Conching Rosal sa kanyang makabagbag damdaming pag-awit ng mga Kundiman tulad ng Huling Awit, Kundiman ng Luha, Ibong Sawi, Pakiusap, Alin Mang Lahi, Sa Iyo Inay, Hatinggabi, Mutya ng Pasig at marami pang iba na isinaplaka ng Villar Records . Ang kanyang boses soprano ay ginamit rin bilang Ibong Adarna na umaawit para makatulog ang sinumang makarinig noong 1972 para sa pelikulang Ang Hiwaga ng Ibong Adarna sa ilalim ng Roda Film Productions.

Enjoy our complete HD experience video of Baron 1898 at Efteling. Take a walk through the queue line before seeing both of the rides pre shows and stepping onto the front row of the ride. Riders are seated on a train of 18 people. Then, the search for gold begins with a treacherous 37.5-metre free fall down into the mineshaft. Subsequently, visitors roar around an Immelmann loop at 90 kilometres per hour, followed by a Zero-G roll during which visitors momentarily experience weightlessness and along with a Helix.

This early silent film was created/directed by Georges Méliès and was released in France under the name, "La lune à un mètre," in 1898.
In the film an astronomer is studying at his desk in an observatory. The devil appears, then a woman appears and makes the devil and herself vanish. The astronomer draws a globe on a blackboard which comes to life and starts to move on the blackboard. The astronomer then looks through a small telescope.
The moon appears as a large face and eats the astronomer's telescope. Men tumble from its mouth. Then the moon is back in the sky. The astronomer stands on a table, which disappears and he falls down.
The moon becomes a crescent. A spirit, in the form of a lady, appears from it. The astronomer chases her, but she eludes him. Now another figure stands in the crescent of the moon, before reclining into its C shape.
The moon appears as a large face again, and the astronomer jumps into its mouth and a woman and the devil appear again. The astronomer reappears sitting asleep in his chair.
