Samhain first full album. The year is 1984 (released exactly 30 years ago) and from the ashes of the Misfits came the beginning of a Gothic/deathrock band of the 80s. I would say this is more gothic rock than NCF. Even though I like NCF more I think this is pretty fucking good. All their albums are Ama-Zing (get it.... Steve... no... okay...) Anyways enjoy what is left of the end of the Misfits....

A special, spooky night of Irish storytelling! First, a brief look at Samhain, or the Celtic origins of Halloween; Irish folklore, followed by tellings of some of my favorite Irish fairy tales. I very much hope you enjoy!
*Trigger Warning: Some of the following content may be mildly disturbing for sensitive viewers with anxiety and /or PTSD; please proceed with caution.
I may have gotten a little bit excited with some of these stories and perhaps went at too fast a pace for some...sorry about that! :P
By the way I really tried being on camera for this but I failed miserably. Also dogs barked all night. Also my camera kept shutting off. Also. :D
I have found that every Irish person tells the same story differently, and that's part of their Irish charm. ;) You may find that a traditional tale you know well is slightly adapted in these readings. I hope you can still enjoy these tales just like I did when I first heard them! I first thought of a Samhain Halloween special last year but ran out of time to complete it. It was my first year in Ireland and I had heard a few different Irish storytellers and just loved the passion they had when telling stories of Ireland. So this is my homage to the wonderful, beautiful country that is the reason for the season... which is Halloween! :P

Samhain
Samhain (pronounced /ˈsɑːwɪn/ SAH-win or /ˈsaʊ.ɪn/ SOW-in, Irish pronunciation: [sˠaunʲ]) is a Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter or the "darker half" of the year. Traditionally, it is celebrated from the very beginning of one Celtic day to its end, or in the modern calendar, from sunset on 31 October to sunset on 1 November, this places it about halfway between the autumn equinox and the winter solstice. It is one of the four Gaelic seasonal festivals, along with Imbolc, Beltane and Lughnasadh. Historically, it was widely observed throughout Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man. Similar festivals are held at the same time of year in other Celtic lands; for example the Brythonic Calan Gaeaf (in Wales), Kalan Gwav (in Cornwall), and Kalan Goañv (in Brittany).

Samhain - Initium FULL ALBUM 1984
Samhain first full album. The year is 1984 (released exactly 30 years ago) and from the ashes of the Misfits came the beginning of a Gothic/deathrock band of the 80s. I would say this is more gothic rock than NCF. Even though I like NCF more I think this is pretty fucking good. All their albums are Ama-Zing (get it.... Steve... no... okay...) Anyways enjoy what is left of the end of the Misfits.... I have found that every Irish person tells the same story differently, and that's part of their Irish charm. ;) You may find that a traditional tale you know well is slightly adapted in these readings. I hope you can still enjoy these tales just like I did when I first heard them! I first thought of a Samhain Halloween special last year but ran out of time to complete it. It was my first year in Ireland and I had heard a few different Irish storytellers and just loved the passion they had when telling stories of Ireland. So this is my homage to the wonderful, beautiful country that is the reason for the season... which is Halloween! :P
