A gun barrel is the tube, usually metal, through which a deflagration or rapid expansion of gases are released in order to propel a projectile out of the end at a high velocity. Barrels are part of firearms and artillery pieces.
The first firearms were made at a time where metallurgy was not advanced enough to cast tubes able to withstand the explosive forces of early cannon, so the pipe (often actually built from staves of metal) needed to be braced periodically along its length, producing an appearance somewhat reminiscent of a storage barrel.
A gun barrel must be able to hold in the expanding gas produced by the propellants to ensure that optimum muzzle velocity is attained by the projectile as it is being pushed out by the expanding gas(es). Modern small arms barrels are made of materials known and tested to withstand the pressures involved. Artillery pieces are made by various techniques providing reliably sufficient strength.
Early firearms were muzzle-loading, with powder, and then shot loaded from the muzzle, capable of only a low rate of fire. Breech loading provided a higher rate of fire, but early breech-loading guns lacked an effective way of sealing the escaping gases that leaked from the back end of the barrel, reducing the available muzzle velocity. During the 19th century effective mechanical locks were invented that sealed a breech-loading weapon against the escape of propellant gases.
The James Bond series focuses on a fictional British Secret Service agent created in 1953 by writer Ian Fleming, who featured him in twelve novels and two short-story collections. Since Fleming's death in 1964, eight other authors have written authorised Bond novels or novelizations: Kingsley Amis, Christopher Wood, John Gardner, Raymond Benson, Sebastian Faulks, Jeffery Deaver, William Boyd and Anthony Horowitz. The latest novel is Trigger Mortis by Anthony Horowitz, published in September 2015. Additionally Charlie Higson wrote a series on a young James Bond, and Kate Westbrook wrote three novels based on the diaries of a recurring series character, Moneypenny.
The character has also been adapted for television, radio, comic strip, video games and film. The films are the longest continually running and the third-highest-grossing film series to date, which started in 1962 with Dr. No, starring Sean Connery as Bond. As of 2016, there have been twenty-four films in the Eon Productions series. The most recent Bond film, Spectre (2015), stars Daniel Craig in his fourth portrayal of Bond; he is the sixth actor to play Bond in the Eon series. There have also been two independent productions of Bond films: Casino Royale (a 1967 spoof) and Never Say Never Again (a 1983 remake of an earlier Eon-produced film, Thunderball).

Finally, after problems with rendering (and my crappy skills) i managed to upload this one on YouTube. It is the second version, or rather a sequel of my previous compilation created three years ago (gosh). It was really fun to do it and i'm really looking forward to do next one, montage is really fun thing to do. I remember older GB compilation that made me interested in James Bond franchise, sadly, cannot find it anymore. I loved the idea of moving posters and themes before each sequence, therefore i did the same as a homage in my version. Timetags (title: poster - gunbarrel) Dr. No: 0:25 - 0:33 From Russia With Love: 1:07 - 1:14 Goldfinger: 1:40 - 1:48 Thunderball: 2:12 - 2:23 You Only Live Twice: 2:45 - 2:53 On Her Majesty's Secret Service: 3:19 - 3:29 Diamonds are Forever: 3:57 - 4:...

This is my first attempt at forging a gun barrel as a colonial gunsmith would have. It's forged from a section of a wrought iron tire off a wooden wagon wheel. This effort is only the first couple steps for forging a barrel. Additional steps include forging (and filing) the barrel to an octagon shape, drilling the center hole larger, then reaming it to a final bore size, putting in the spirals, adding a breech plug and forging and adding the sights and hardware to mount the barrel in the stock. I may follow up with additional work on this barrel, but it won't be anytime soon. My goal for this effort was to see if I could do the forge welding.

Wednesday's even worse; Thursday's awful sad.
The eagle flies on Friday, Saturday I go out to play.
The eagle flies on Friday, but Saturday I go out to play.
Sunday I go to church where I kneel down and pray.
And I say, "Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy on me.
Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy on me.
Just trying to find my baby, won't you please send her on
back to me."
