Band are featured on Tari's new CD
"
Better Late! Than Never".
Tommy Castro plays lead guitar on "
Easier to Say" and "
Unlove You". "
Stormy Monday" features the whole band live at
Copia,
Napa, California.
"Better Late! Than Never" is just a title that I feel shows the average artist, that no matter how long you've been performing, or singing, it's never too late to chase the dream.
A little something about
Tari LaCourt
Tari LaCourt , formerly Tari
Smith, was born in
Oakland, CA, At the age of 12 she was fully engulfed in her very first working cover band. While in high school, she would sneak into the night clubs of
Oakland and sit in with the bands that were performing. She participated in anything that was related to music, i.e. Choirs, school musicals, classical competitions and local rock bands.
At the age of 19, she left her day job to audition for a local club band and she was off and running singing with local bands such as
Logos,
Hot Cider, Hot
Street and most recently The DeSotos sharing the stage with the fabulous vocals of
Calvin Tillery for the past 16 years. Its been great having Calvin as an inspiration.
Tari has often been vocally likened to such great talents as:
Lydia Pense,
Bonnie Raitt,
Etta James,
Aretha Franklin, and
Ruthie Foster, throughout her career.
She has had the privilege of being part of opening acts for the likes of:
Loggins and Messina,
Dave Mason,
John Mayall,
Jackson Browne,
The Pointer Sisters,
Albert King,
Tower of Power, Lydia Pense &
Friends (formerly
Cold Blood),
Elvin Bishop, J
Giles Band,
Ricky Nelson, just to name a few.
She has also performed on stage together with:
Elvin Bishop, Lydia Pense and Friends,
Bruce Conte, John Mayall, Dave Mason, Robbin
Ford and
John Lee Hooker,
Clifford Coulter,
Bill Withers and countless others. Most recently she has been spotted sitting in with The Tommy Castro Band and the fabulous Mr.
Earl Thomas. Tari was honored to have been able to record a song written and produced by
Ronnie Montrose for a
Canadian movie.
She finally made the decision to go into the studio and record her first solo CD.
Ive always wanted to record an
album, Tari says, The time just feels right now. I have been blessed with the most wonderful and talented players on this project, including the incomparable Tommy Castro!! I love him. I love everyone that participated. She adds,
Music knows no age. So, I guess you can say that its never too late to follow your dream. She adds, I was born to entertain! Thats what I intend to do.
