Tofino, British Columbia is one of the best surf towns in North America with world-class salmon fishing, surfing, whale watching, kayaking, beachcombing, and hiking.
In this video, two indie BC filmmakers (Sean Horlor & Steve Adams) charter a floatplane, helicopter, and private plane for a flightseeing tour of Pacific Rim National Park, Barkley Sound, Vancouver Island, Victoria, the Gulf Islands, and Vancouver.
While flying over the West Coast Trail, they catch part of the grey whale migration from Alaska to Mexico.

Quality waves, sunshine and explosive surfing greeted surfers and competitors at the 2015 Rip Curl Pro Tofino. With a growing number of international competitors joining Canada’s best, this years event saw some of the tightest competition in it’s nine year history.

Please subscribe at http://bit.ly/1FxiVp2. We wanna go to Vancouver Island, Canada! After checking out the local beaches, we decided to explore the town of Tofino. Based on recommendation we relaxed with a coffee at Tuff Beans Coffee House. We asked the manager for a recommendation for tourist attractions and she said the number one thing to do (if you're not there to surf) is whale watching. We made our way to Ocean Outfitters and booked a tour to see grey whales during the mating season. To bring our day to a close, we got a table at one of the town's trendiest and well regarded restaurants. "Wolf in the Fog" has made our list as one of the best restaurants in Western Canada. If you go, try the Cedar infused rye before you do anything else. You can thank us later.

After setting up camp at Crystal Cove Campground we walked the dogs then set out to explore 3 popular beaches in and around the area. Chesterman beach, Long Beach (Incinerator Point) and Tonquin Beach offer great surfing, scenic/secluded shores and rarely get busy with tourists.

Little do most people know, Canada has a thriving surf scene. In the frigid Pacific waters on the country's west coast, the small community of Tofino's surf culture thrives year round.
While we Canadians are known to love the outdoors, even I was intrigued to learn more about this town's cold water surfing pastime. To better understand the local surf culture, I spoke with a number of local surfers.
Tofino is located on the coastline that also happens to be a protected rainforest. Yes, a rainforest in Canada. It doesn't snow in this part of Canada, contrary to the international stereotype of the whole country as the "Great White North"... Instead, on this mild Pacific coastline, it rains. And rains. And rains... Yearly rainfall in Tofino is around 130 inches. But through it all, rain or shine, clad in warm wetsuits, locals love to surf!

Tofino is a district of about 1,876 residents on the west coast of Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada, located at the western terminus of Highway 4, on the tip of the Esowista Peninsula, at the southern edge of Clayoquot Sound.
The settlement of Tofino first acquired the name in 1909 with the opening of the Tofino Post Office, named in association with Tofino Inlet nearby. Tofino Inlet was named in 1792 by the Spanish commanders Galiano and Valdés, in honor of Admiral Vicente Tofiño, under whom Galiano had learned cartography.
A popular tourist destination in the summer, Tofino's population swells to many times its winter size. It attracts surfers, nature lovers, campers, whale watchers, fishermen, or anyone just looking to be close to nature. In the winter it is not as bustling, although many people visit Tofino and the west coast to watch storms on the water. Close to Tofino is Long Beach, a scenic and popular year-round destination, at the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Nearby Maquinna Marine Provincial Park, with its natural hot springs, is located about 45 kilometres (28 mi) north of Tofino and is also a popular day-trip destination for tourists although it is only reachable by boat or float plane.

Based on recommendation we relaxed with a coffee at Tuff Beans Coffee House. We asked the manager for a recommendation for tourist attractions and she said the number one thing to do (if you're not there to surf) is whale watching. We made our way to Ocean Outfitters and booked a tour to see grey whales during the mating season. To bring our day to a close, we got a table at one of the town's trendiest and well regarded restaurants. "Wolf in the Fog" has made our list as one of the best restaurants in Western Canada. If you go, try the Cedar infused rye before you do anything else. You can thank us later.
