Final Days of Yitzhak Rabin
It was probably in September 1993, after the signing of the Oslo Accords, that Yitzhak Rabin signed his death warrant, by agreeing to shake Yasser Arafat's hand in front of the world's cameras. The Nobel Peace Prize he received the following year did nothing to change that: he was now the target of unwavering hatred in the most extreme Israeli circles. On November 4, 1995, Yitzhak Rabin, the hero of the 1948 war who had said that we should "fight terrorism as if there were no negotiations, and negotiate as if there were no terrorism," was assassinated by an Israeli religious extremist during a peace demonstration. An isolated act or a vast conspiracy? The question is still unresolved.

Israel - Amir Reenacts Rabin Assassination
(16 Nov 1995) T/I: 10:55:51 GS 10:14:38
The Israeli police brought Yigal Amir, the self confessed
assassin of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, back to the scene of
crime on Thursday (16/11). The special force investigating the
murder staged the reenactment to get a clear picture of the
sequence of events that took place on November 4. Amid tight
security, a car similar to that of the murdered prime minister
drove up and Amir, wearing a white bulletproof vest, pulled a gun.
It was the same weapon that fired the fatal bullets. Bystanders
jeered and booed Amir when he produced the weapon. At the square, renamed Yitzhak Rabin square, candles still burn at the place where the prime minister collapsed.

The alleged killer of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin has appeared in court in Tel-Aviv, where he was remanded in custody for 15 days. Police say 27 year-old Yigal Amir has confessed to the killing. There was intense security at Tel Aviv's main courtroom for the appearance of the suspected assassin of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. Yigal Amir was hustled into the court surrounded by police and soldiers. Unshaven and handcuffed, the slightly built Amir was brought before Magistrate Dan Arbel. He told the judge he killed Rabin to stop the peace process. The 27 year old law and computer science student said Rabin was giving Israel away to the Arabs.
