Fresh off the premiere of an outstanding pilot episode for Cinemax’s comic book
adaptation of
Outcast, director
Adam Wingard is a busy man. He officially began production on his feature film version of Death Note for Netflix and a new poster was revealed for his latest and very scary horror movie The Woods. It was also announced that the much anticipated horror film from Lionsgate would screen this year at
San Diego Comic Con.
High Tension,
The Hills Have Eyes and
Horns director
Alexandre Aja’s latest got its first trailer last week.
Starring Jamie Dornan,
Aaron Paul and
Sarah Gadon star in the psychological thriller telling the story of a psychologist who begins working with a young boy who has suffered a near-fatal fall and finds himself drawn into a mystery that tests the boundaries of fantasy and reality. The 9th Life of Louis Drax hits theaters on
September 9.
Jacob’s Ladder is getting a reimagining with
David Rosenthal, director of
The Perfect Guy at the helm. It was announced that
Karla Souza would take a major role joining
Michael Ealy in the lead,
Sleepy Hollow’s
Nicole Beharie and
Jesse Williams.
Variety previously reported that the new film would be “a modern-day paranoid action thriller.” Huh?
Additionally,
Bloody Disgusting revealed exclusive images of actor
Jonathan Schaech portraying a new take on the iconic Bub zombie in a new version of Day of the Dead. His character,
Max, can be seen in the remake directed by
Hector Hernandez Vicens.
What’s In
The Box?!
The fan-favorite
12 Monkeys was renewed by
Syfy for a ten-episode season three. Since we have show runner and co-creator Terry Matalas right here, let’s talk about Monday’s season two finale and the great renewal news.
Last week
AMC’s Preacher was also renewed for a new season. While it’s no secret that ratings have been slightly lower than the network would have hoped, but they appear to be doubling down on the
Seth Rogen/
Evan Goldberg series based on the comic book with an expanded season two order of 13 episodes up from ten this season.
Fannibal’s, listen up! The show that will not die had new life breathed into it when Collider’s own
Steve Weintraub hit the red carpet of the
Saturn Awards. He spoke with
Bryan Fuller about a potential Hannibal return and when, theoretically, we could expect it. He told
Frosty, “Two years after the last airing of the show, we can investigate our options.
August 2017 is when we can actually start talking about it. That’s when we would have to see what the rights are for the character and for the story, and see who’s interested and how we get it done. I have the story, and the cast is excited for the story, so we’re ready to go if somebody wants to go.
Monster of the Week
Director Robin Hardy, director of the seminal horror classic The Wicker Man, passed away a few days ago.
The Guardian ran a great obituary for him, noting that while he only made one movie that was somewhat notable, that movie left an impact on audiences around the world and those who have seen it ever since.
