CITY GOD TEMPLE
God of Shanghai City
City God Temple (also called Chenghuang Miao) was built during the reign of Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). It is located at Fangbang Middle Road and adjoins Yuyuan Garden in the south in the ancient part of the city which is studded with hundreds of commercial stores, gold market, snack shops and restaurants. Now the Old City God area normally refers to Shanghai Old Street, Yuyuan Garden and area stretching from Anren Street in the east to Fuyou Road in the north and Old Xiaochang Road westward. The Temple is regarded as the abode of the Protector and Patron God of Shanghai and contains nine Palaces. It is a must visit place in Shanghai. The Temple as well as Old Street are easily accessible through a nearby metro/subway station named “Yuyuan Garden” by purple Mero Line No. 10, just 2 stations below from East Nanjing Road station on green Metro Line No. 2. Entry ticket is 10 yuan in 2016.

Me and my Taiwanese friends happened to be nearby the Xia-Hai City God Temple located in Dihua Street in Taipei just a day before Valentine's Day. The temple is famous for its deity Yue Lao, often referred to as the Love God, or the Matchmaking God and people flock here praying to find a suitable mate, so we decided to pay it a visit just for fun, too.
When the CTV (one of the main TV stations in Taiwan) reporter approached me and asked me whether I'm single and want to find a suitable partner by praying to the Love God, I was a bit shocked and nervous as it was my first interview for the TV news, I replied that I do want to find a suitable partner, but not this way haha. I do it mostly for fun and because it's a part of culture. Of course the news cut it out and kept only what they had found appropriate. Anyway, it was a fun experience!

It was built by hand more than a thousand years before the swooping arrival of the Nahuatl-speaking Aztec in central Mexico. But it was the Aztec, descending on the abandoned site, no doubt falling awestruck by what they saw, who gave it a name: Teotihuacan.
A famed archaeological site located fewer than 30 miles (50 kilometers) from Mexico City, Teotihuacan reached its zenith between 100 B.C. and A.D. 650. It covered 8 square miles (21 square kilometers) and supported a population of a hundred thousand, according to George Cowgill, an archaeologist at Arizona State University and a National Geographic Society grantee.
"It was the largest city anywhere in the Western Hemisphere before the 1400s," Cowgill says. "It had thousands of residential compounds and scores of pyramid-temples and was comparable to the largest pyramids of Egypt."
Oddly, Teotihuacan, which contains a massive central road (the Street of the Dead) and buildings including the Temple of the Sun and the Temple of the Moon, has no military structures—though experts say the military and cultural wake of Teotihuacan was heavily felt throughout the region.

The Ark of the Covenant (Hebrew: אָרוֹן הַבְּרִית ʾĀrôn Habbərît, modern pron. Aron haBrit), also known as the Ark of the Testimony, is a chest described in the Book of Exodus[1] as containing the Tablets of Stone on which the Ten Commandments were inscribed. According to the New Testament Letter to the Hebrews,[2] the Ark also contained Aaron's rod, a jar of manna, and the first Torah scroll as written by Moses; however, the first of the Books of Kings says that at the time of King Solomon, the Ark contained only the two Tablets of the Law.[3] According to the Book of Exodus, the Ark was built at the command of God, in accordance with the instructions given to Moses on Mount Sinai[4] In the Deuteronomy 5:6, these events are described as having transpired at Mount Horeb.[5][6] God was said to have communicated with Moses "from between the two cherubim" on the Ark's cover.[7]
The biblical account relates that, approximately one year after the Israelites' exodus from Egypt, the Ark was created according to the pattern given to Moses by God when Israel was encamped at the foot of Mount Sinai. The Story of Jerusalem's Holy Temple. A Story of Destruction, Faith and God
On the seventh day of Ab, the chief of Nebuchadnezzar's army, Nebuchadnezzar, began the destruction of Jerusalem. The walls of the city were torn down, and the royal palace, and other structures in the city were set on fire. On the ninth day of the same month, towards the evening, the Holy Temple ("Beth Hamikdosh") was set on fire and was destroyed. Everything of gold and silver that still remained was carried off as loot by Babylonian soldiers. All the beautiful works of art with which King Solomon had once decorated and ornamented the holy edifice were destroyed or taken away. The holy vessels of the Temple that could be found were brought to Babylon. The high priest Seraiah and many other high officials and priests were executed. Many thousands of the people that had escaped the sword were taken prisoner and led into captivity in Babylon, where some of their best had already preceded them. Only the poorest of the residents of Jerusalem were permitted to stay on to plant the vineyards and work in the fields. Over these Nebuchadnezzar set a governor, Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, a great friend of Jeremiah.
Upon Nebuchadnezzar's orders Jeremiah was released from prison and saved from the cruel fate that befell the other leaders of the people. Nebuchadnezzar took off Jeremiah's chains, and allowed him to choose between remaining in his native land or going to Babylon, not as a captive but as an honored guest. Jeremiah preferred to stay and end his days on the holy soil of Judah.
