Abberley is a village and civil parish in north west Worcestershire, England.
It is situated on the northern slopes of Abberley Hill (height 283 metres (928 ft)), between the River Severn and River Teme. The village had a population of 830 in 2001.
Abberley lies halfway between Worcester and Tenbury, at the junction with the road from Worcester to Cleobury Mortimer. The parish was described in 1905 as being "about six miles in length, and nowhere more than one mile in breadth". At the latest census, it had the youngest population of any Worcestershire village.
Abberley is a village of three distinct parts. The oldest part, known as The Village, clusters round the 12th century and 13th century parish church of St. Michael. To the west, and divided from the village by farmland and the Cleobury road, is The Common, where the largest part of the population lives, new housing is being added, and there is a village shop cum post office. Between the village and the common, on the Cleobury road, are the Parochial VC primary school and the Village Hall.

Great Witley is a village and civil parish (with Hillhampton), in the Malvern Hills District in the northwest of the county of Worcestershire, England. It is situated around ten miles to the north west of the city of Worcester.
There has been a settlement in the area since before the Norman Conquest.
Great Witley was in the lower division of Doddingtree Hundred.
Following the Poor Law Amendment Act 1834 Great Witley Parish ceased to be responsible for maintaining the poor in its parish. This responsibility was transferred to Martley Poor Law Union.
The village is home to Witley Court, a Jacobean country house extended on a number of occasions throughout its history, but which became derelict after a spectacular fire in 1937. The mansion, formerly one of the finest in the Midlands, is now in the care of English Heritage, who describe it as their number one ruin. They have restored the extensive gardens leaving the impressive skeletal ruin of the building overlooking them in a poignant and thought provoking way.
Abberley Hall is a country house in the north-west of the county of Worcestershire, England. The present Italianate house is the work of Samuel Daukes and dates from 1846–49. Since 1916 it has been occupied by Abberley Hall School. It is a Grade II* listed building. The gardens are listed as Grade II on the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England. In the area close to Stourport-on-Severn there are several large manor and country houses, among which Witley Court, Astley Hall, Pool House, Areley Hall, Hartlebury and Abberley Hall (with its clock tower) are particularly significant.
Witley Court in Worcestershire, England is a Grade I listed building and was once one of the great houses of the Midlands, but today it is a spectacular ruin after being devastated by fire in 1937.
In the area close to Stourport-on-Severn there are several large manor and country houses, among which Witley Court, Astley Hall, Pool House, Areley Hall, Hartlebury and Abberley Hall (with its clock tower) are particularly significant.
Witley Court was built by Thomas Foley in 1655 on the site of a former manor house near Great Witley. Subsequent additions were designed by John Nash in the early 19th century and the Court was subsequently bought by the Earls of Dudley in 1837. The house and 40 acres were acquired in 2008 by a wealthy family for less than £0.9m, but remains in the guardianship of the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, and managed on their behalf by English Heritage since 1984.
The earliest building on the site was a Jacobean brick house constructed by the Russell family. After the Civil War the house was sold to Thomas Foley (1616-1677), an ironmaster. He erected two towers on the north side of the house and his grandson Thomas Foley, 1st Baron Foley (1716–1777) added the wings which enclose the entrance courtyard.

Great Witley Court, Abberley Hill & Abberley Church, Walking Worcestershire, Heart Of England UK was an interesting 7.5 miles hike. There was quite a lot of historic interest as well as scenic appeal along this hike in the midst of the woody hills of Abberley. The historical points of interest were the impressive ruins of Witley Court, the 18th-century Great Witley Church and the remains of a simple Norman church in Abberley Village. If you ever leave, and I imagine you will,
It'll just be me and the whippoorwill -
Just we two, and the evening star,
If you pack your suitcase and go get in your car
And drive down the road
In the mud or the dust, over to the river,
KC or bust. If you ever go, I'll be here still,
Getting annoyed at the whippoorwill.
Getting annoyed, unable to sleep, the dust too dusty,
Or the mud too deep. I'll follow your dust,
Or I'll follow your tracks over to the hard road,
And I'll bring you back.
If you won't come back, I'll stay on your trail,
Up through heaven, or down through hell.
I'll miss this old place, I'll miss these old hills.
But I sure won't miss that whippoorwill.
You are dearer to me than the birds or the stars,
Sweeter to me than the hills and the flowers.
Long as I have you I can take anything.
