    We agree with Gerard Brennan. This matter has gone far beyond any deterrence against people smugglers. The cruelty and harm being inflicted on these vulnerable children - in the name of all Australians - is obscene. We must speak out and stand against it.

    Thank you to all who brought this to our attention – it is very concerning & we understand this imagery may be highly distressing for people. Explicit depictions of self-harm have been linked to copycat behaviour. It is safe to share personal stories of self-harm in a general way

    A 3 year old is in hospital after a suspected blood infection went untreated for 10 days. Tharunicaa and her sister Kopika were born here. They’ve spent nearly all their lives in detention. We’re better than this. It’s time to bring these girls and their parents .

    The government says medical facilities at Xmas Is hospital are as good as most others elsewhere in Australia. They are apparently. But staff at the detention centre did not allow Tharnicaa to access them.

    Angela Fredericks is a friend of the Tamil family whose daughter Tharnicaa may have septicaemia. She said: "Public facilities on Christmas Island are equipped. It was the fact the actual staff within the detention facility didn't allow the family to go to those public services."
