Ian Robert Callaghan MBE (born 10 April 1942 in Toxteth, Liverpool) is a former Liverpool footballer who holds the record for most appearances for the club.
A Liverpool supporter as a child, Callaghan joined the club as an apprentice on 28 March 1960 and made his debut on 16 April in a 4-0 win against Bristol Rovers at Anfield.
A right-winger, Callaghan was a regular in the team from 1961 onwards. The club was promoted from the Second Division as champions in 1962 under the management of Bill Shankly, having spent spent eight years in the second tier and coming close to promotion on occasion under both Shankly and previous manager Phil Taylor. Callaghan appeared twenty three times that season and also managed to score his first goal for the club which came in the 56th minute of the game against Preston North End at Deepdale on 4 November 1961.
Callaghan became a major part of the side which finished 8th in their first season back in Division One. The following year, 1963-64, Liverpool won the League championship by four points over north-west rivals Manchester United and five over Merseyside rivals and reigning league champions Everton.
Paolo Giovanni Nutini (born 9 January 1987) is a Scottish singer, songwriter and musician from Paisley.
Paolo Nutini's debut album, These Streets, was released by Atlantic Records in the United Kingdom in July 2006 and included the singles "Last Request", "Jenny Don't Be Hasty", "Rewind" and "New Shoes". "Last Request", the most successful, reached number five on the UK Singles Chart. The album peaked at number three on the UK Album Chart and was certified 4× platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). It has been in the album charts for a record-breaking 196 weeks.
In May 2009 Nutini released his second album, Sunny Side Up, which debuted at number one in the UK and has produced four singles; "Candy", "Coming Up Easy", "Pencil Full of Lead" and "10/10". It has so far been certified 4x platinum by the BPI. On 19 February 2010, it scooped "Best International Album" at the 2010 Meteor Awards.
Nutini's father is of Italian descent, from Barga, Tuscany, although both his parents are third-generation Scottish.
William Joseph "Barry" McCormick (December 25, 1874 – January 28, 1956) was a professional baseball player and later a major league umpire.
As a player, he played infielder in Major League Baseball from 1895 to 1904. He would play for the Louisville Colonels, Chicago Colts/Orphans, St. Louis Browns, and Washington Senators. McCormick was the last player to have eight at-bats in a nine-inning game, achieving this feat on the 29th of June, 1897.
After retiring as a player, he took up umpiring, making his major league debut in 1917 and winding up his second career in 1929. [1] He was behind the plate for the longest extra inning game in major league history, the 26-inning contest between the Brooklyn Dodgers and Boston Braves on May 1, 1920.
