Paris (UK: /ˈpærɪs/ PARR-iss; US: i/ˈpɛərɪs/ PAIR-iss; French: [paʁi]) is the capital and most populous city of France. Situated on the Seine River, in the north of the country, it is in the centre of the Île-de-France region, also known as the région parisienne, "Paris Region". The City of Paris has an area of 105 km² (41 mi²) and a population of 2,241,346 (2014 estimate) within its administrative borders essentially unchanged since 1860.
Since the 19th century, the built-up area of Paris has grown far beyond its administrative borders; together with its suburbs, the whole agglomeration has a population of 10,550,350 (Jan. 2012 census).Paris' metropolitan area spans most of the Paris region and has a population of 12,341,418 (Jan. 2012 census), or one-fifth of the population of France. The administrative region covers 12,012 km² (4,638 mi²), with approximately 12 million inhabitants as of 2014, and has its own regional council and president.
Paris was founded in the 3rd century BC by a Celtic people called the Parisii, who gave the city its name. By the 12th century, Paris was the largest city in the western world, a prosperous trading centre, and the home of the University of Paris, one of the first in Europe. In the 18th century, it was the centre stage for the French Revolution, and became an important centre of finance, commerce, fashion, science, and the arts, a position it still retains today.
Dominic Miller (born 21 March 1960) is an English guitarist who toured and recorded with World Party and King Swamp, worked on Phil Collins' solo album ...But Seriously and played guitar on every Sting album and tour since 1990. He has co-written many notable songs with Sting including "Shape of My Heart", which was also a hit for Craig David and the Sugababes.
Born in Buenos Aires, Dominic Miller spent the first ten years of his life in Argentina, then, following his family's move to North America, settled in Wisconsin, where he attended The Prairie School, until another move, two years later, to London. Coming from a musical family, he was a serious guitarist by age eleven and subsequently studied at London's Guildhall School of Music and, returning to America, at Boston's Berklee College of Music. He also took lessons from the Brazilian guitarist and composer Sebastião Tapajós.
After touring and recording with World Party in the 1980s, he became a member of King Swamp and toured with them. He later worked on Phil Collins' solo album, ...But Seriously. He played guitar on recordings by Sting and, starting in 1990, has gone on to work on every Sting album and tour. A song he co-wrote with Sting, "Shape of My Heart", became a hit for Craig David and the Sugababes.
The Cotton Club was a New York City night club located first in the Harlem neighborhood on 142nd St & Lenox Ave from 1923 to 1935 and then for a brief period from 1936 to 1940 in the midtown Theater District. The club operated most notably during America's Prohibition Era.
The club was a whites-only establishment even though it featured many of the most popular black entertainers of the era, including musicians Cab Calloway, Fletcher Henderson, Duke Ellington, Jimmie Lunceford, Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Fats Waller, vocalists Adelaide Hall,Ethel Waters, Avon Long, the Dandridge Sisters, the Will Vodery Choir, Berry Brothers, Nina Mae McKinney, Billie Holiday, Lena Horne, and dancers Bill Robinson, The Nicholas Brothers, Stepin Fetchit, and Earl Snakehips Tucker.
During its heyday, the Cotton Club served as a hip meeting spot featuring regular "Celebrity Nights" on Sundays, which featured guests such as Jimmy Durante, George Gershwin, Sophie Tucker, Paul Robeson, Al Jolson, Mae West, Richard Rodgers, Irving Berlin, Eddie Cantor, Fanny Brice, Langston Hughes, Judy Garland, Moss Hart, and Mayor Jimmy Walker among others.

Reel Wild Cinema was a television show that aired on USA Network during the mid-'90s. The show presented clips of exploitation films that were produced as late as the early '70s. Each episode explored a specific theme and welcomed a special guest, usually of exploitation renown. Many prominent producers, directors, and actors of the genre sat opposite the show’s groovy host, Sandra Bernhard, for Q&A;. Each episode contained a “feature”, which comprised more clips of a single film than any other film shown during that episode. The feature usually ran for twenty minutes of the hour slotted for the show. A new episode aired each week with a start time in the wee hours. The show lasted only a few seasons.
