Due to a growing trend of users using linux, using open source software and then spitting in the faces of the developers, the community as a whole, the open source ecosystem, how it works and what this side of the fence stands for in comparison to the proprietary Microsoft windows operating system and proprietary software world.... I think we need to take a step back, get educated, acknowledge and appreciate how this wonderful operating system and open source ecosystem came into existence. Many of us take the history for granted and make uninformed criticisms with the mind set of a paying Microsoft Windows customer wanting the SAME experience, SAME technical direction and vision with an ideology that is thankfully completely and utterly incompatible with this view. If you don't like it or appreciate the diversity within the open source world then ask for a fucking refund and go back to using Windows, proprietary and adaware infected free software you whiny pathetic cunts. Enjoy

Open-source software
Open-source software (OSS) is computer software with its source code made available with a license in which the copyright holder provides the rights to study, change, and distribute the software to anyone and for any purpose. Open-source software may be developed in a collaborative public manner. Open-source software is the most prominent example of open-source development.
The open-source model, or collaborative competition development from multiple independent sources, generates an increasingly more diverse scope of design perspective than any one company is capable of developing and sustaining long term. A report by the Standish Group (from 2008) states that adoption of open-source software models has resulted in savings of about $60 billion per year to consumers.
History
End of 1990s: Foundation of the Open Source Initiative
In 1997, Eric Raymond published The Cathedral and the Bazaar, a reflective analysis of the hacker community and free software principles. The paper received significant attention in early 1998, and was one factor in motivating Netscape Communications Corporation to release their popular Netscape Communicator Internet suite as free software. This source code subsequently became the basis behind SeaMonkey, Mozilla Firefox, Thunderbird and KompoZer.

I think we need to take a step back, get educated, acknowledge and appreciate how this wonderful operating system and open source ecosystem came into existence. Many of us take the history for granted and make uninformed criticisms with the mind set of a paying Microsoft Windows customer wanting the SAME experience, SAME technical direction and vision with an ideology that is thankfully completely and utterly incompatible with this view. If you don't like it or appreciate the diversity within the open source world then ask for a fucking refund and go back to using Windows, proprietary and adaware infected free software you whiny pathetic cunts. Led by enthusiasts Peter Madsen and Kristian von Bengtson, Copenhagen Suborbitals (http://www.copenhagensuborbitals.com/) has the goal in about 3-4 years time to send a man 130 kilometres into space.
Whole team of amateurs with a minimum of resources works to build a manned space program. The backgrounds of the team are submarine-builders, architects specializing in aerospace travel and including former employment at NASA.
A successful rocket launch has already taken place in June 2011, when the world's first amateur rocket has broken past the speed of sound and became a step towards venturing into space has now become reality.
Peter Madsen is an artist and inventor, who also built 3 submarines, incl. the world's largest amateur built submarine, Nautilus.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. Everyday objects are becoming smarter. In ten years’ time, every piece of clothing you own, every piece of jewellery you wear, and every thing you carry with you will be measuring, weighing and calculating your life. In ten years, the world — your world — will be full of sensors.
The problem? The things are becoming smarter, but they’re also becoming selfish. Your lightbulbs aren’t talking to your media centre, your media centre isn’t talking to your blinds, and nobody is talking to the thermostat. Instead of talking to each other, everything is talking to you—you’ve ended up as a mechanical turk inside someone else’s software.
That situation can’t continue, we need to fix the Internet of Things. As our computing continues its diffusion out into the environment we need our things to work together. The things have to become not just smarter, but more co-operative, they need to become anticipatory rather than reactive.
Right now we have not so much an Internet of Things, but a series of Islands of Things. I present open source protocols and architectures that will help solve this trouble with the Internet of Things.
