The mother not only provides a rich childhood for her daughter, she erases any clues her daughter might see that would lead her to think she is different (mother burns books such as "Snow White" and destroys lawn statues of gnomes). In short, she doesn't want to talk about it. The mother succeeds in creating a modern-day Rapunzel: Charlotte becomes an accomplished young woman who captures the heart of Ludovico. Ville Alfa: [Ville wakes up when Manne has pushed him] Don't push me! Aren't you afraid that my shoulder might come loose.
Manne: [when finding out that it is possible to make a direct phone call from Finland to Paris] Blessed the technology!
Harri: [after being beaten up Manne places a loosen tooth in his car's ahtray] So you put the tooth in there.::Manne: So I did.::Harri: Odd bargaining... It is not my business at all, but...::Manne: [interrupts] Just a moment of silence to honour it, please!
Manne: [stops a car] I'm a bad person, I'm a nasty person, an unpleasent person. I believe my liver is sick. Could you give me a ride to the airport?
Manne: [Manne arrives at Baari Bar] Good morning, Vasili! Small coffee!::Vasili: That's all?::Manne: A glass of calvados, and water::Vasili: With calvados you get salad of the day.::Manne: That's illegal!::Vasili: Only if you get caught. You order so little nowadays.::Manne: That's because of my high personal morals.::Vasili: Little more of morals like that and I'll have to close this place.::Manne: Put these on my tap.::Vasili: It's illegal to sell on credit.::Manne: Not if you don't get caught. Do you want my coat as collateral?::Vasili: That one? I'd have to hire a man to guard it. It's on the house.::Manne: Thank you.
Manne: How's business.::Manne: Lousy. Every time I manage to sell something some pig sells me more. I never make any money.::Manne: Buy cheaper and sell dearer.::Ville Alfa: Good idea! Very good idea! Would you do so?::Manne: Not me, but other dealers.
Juippi: Leaving is the most important thing.::Anna-Kaarina: Why don't you leave then?::Juippi: You want me to leave, woman?::Anna-Kaarina: I guess not.::Juippi: You don't sound too convinced.
Harri: [Manne phones to Harri] American Express, it's me!::Manne: I decide to come.::Harri: What if a spring storm blows you away?::Manne: A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. When are you starting?::Harri: I've already started. I've planned to drink plenty today.::Manne: All right! I'll come as old age.::Harri: I understand. I ask Juippi to slaughter the fatted calf. Auf Wienerschnitzelf!
Ville Alfa: You've got something wrong with your head?::Manne: Who wouldn't have?
Manne: [checking a painting] I knew it::Ville Alfa: Is it a fake?::Manne: No. How did you get his?::Ville Alfa: I bought it from a hysterical woman who needed a ticket far away. I gave here all I had, over 2000 marks. She said she got it from her mother. That's what they always say.
