On August 4th, 2016 large storms formed and stalled over the Grand Staircase. Multiple large drainages experienced significant flooding. This was shot in Buckskin Wash, which drains into Buckskin Gulch. Two decent size floods combined to created a monster.

My daughter and I were on a Sunday drive from Ticaboo (Lake Powell, UT) along the Burr Trail. We noticed some very dark clouds north of us, but the rain where we were was fairly light. As we entered Long Canyon a flash flood was coming in from the rains to our north. The flood waters were moving relatively slowly, so we were able to get ahead of them and film them as they chased my daughter down the dry stream bed of Long Canyon. (In hind site, not the smartest thing to do - but it sure was cool). It was an awesome display of nature seeing how all of the spectacular canyons of Southern Utah have been carved and molded over time. As we drove closer to Boulder, the same rains were sending waterfalls cascading over the sandstone cliffs - The Burr Trail is spectacular.

My daughter and I were on a Sunday drive from Ticaboo (Lake Powell, UT) along the Burr Trail. We noticed some very dark clouds north of us, but the rain where we were was fairly light. As we entered Long Canyon a flash flood was coming in from the rains to our north. The flood waters were moving relatively slowly, so we were able to get ahead of them and film them as they chased my daughter down the dry stream bed of Long Canyon. (In hind site, not the smartest thing to do - but it sure was cool). It was an awesome display of nature seeing how all of the spectacular canyons of Southern Utah have been carved and molded over time. As we drove closer to Boulder, the same rains were sending waterfalls cascading over the sandstone cliffs - The Burr Trail is spectacular.

It only took 30 minutes of rain to turn a dry desert wash into a river of mud. We could hear boulders banging along the bottom like the sound of distant thunder. The speed of the water was surprising because the wash looks almost flat when you walk up it.This blocked the road out but by morning all was ok again so we continued on our way.

Utah Part 3 (Zion Narrows top-down 16 miles)
Zion Narrows hike. Top - Down. 16 miles, need backcountry permit and shuttle to pick you up at 6am. Trip to trail head takes 2 hours and it's VERY risky to hike this if flash flood risk is moderate or high. We hiked it when flash flood conditions were moderate. July and August have highest risk of flash flood.

Travis McCabe (Holowesko-Citadel) won stage 4 of the Tour of Utah in Kearns with a convincing sprint win ahead of Kiel Reijnen (Trek-Segafredo) and Sebastian Haedo (Team Jamis). Lachlan Morton (Jelly Belly-Maxxis) finished in the bunch and retained his overall race lead.
McCabe's win marked Holowesko-Citadel's second stage win of the race after Robin Carpenter took stage 2.
McCabe was unstoppable and dominant in the sprint, with no team able to really take control after a long and difficult day in the saddle. The American rider hit the front inside the final 250 metres, coming by his opposition after Trek tried to set up Reijnen. Haedo started his sprint from too far back and was unable to draw level with McCabe.
"It was a pretty hectic finish with that downhill," McCabe said in the post-stage press conference. "We were coming into that at 70km/h with a pretty choppy left-hand turn. The road was pretty beat up so it was just kind of a patience game and staying in good position, not too far forward.
"I think I jumped at 250 metres or thereabouts and was able to hold it. It was great. It was really good."
Reijnen, who won the opening stage last year at the Tour of Utah and was fourth during this year's stage 2 finish in Torrey after finishing behind McCabe in the field sprint, said his Holowesko-Citadel rival was just faster today.
"If you saw the sprint we did in Torrey, Travis was quicker than I was, so I think to beat him today I had to come from behind," Reijnen said. "I tried to play that card and he didn't take the bait, so definitely a deserved win."

Abstract: This seminar is an overview of Flash memory technology. Flash memory are a class of solid state non-volatile memory that uses floating gate MOSFETS as a memory element to store charge. Flash memories are widely used in mobile and computing devices and are expected to increase in popularity in the coming years. In this talk we introduce concept and operation of a single flash cell and how they are integrated into a memory array. NAND flash memory brings in unique challenges with design, fabrication and reliability. Here we discuss key performance indicators and how they impact the functioning and reliability of the memory. Industry has been aggressive scaling flash to keep the cost lower, which in turn introduces new challenges in meeting performance requirements. This trend has driven many innovations in process and architecture. Here we discuss few industry examples of these challenges and highlight process interactions to these performance indicators.
