Rolf Harris (born 30 March 1930) is an Australian entertainer whose career encompassed work as a musician, singer-songwriter, composer, comedian, actor, painter and television personality.
Harris is widely known for his musical compositions "Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport", which later became a Top 10 hit in Australia, the UK, and the United States, and "Jake the Peg". He often used unusual instruments in his performances: he plays the didgeridoo; is credited with the invention of the wobble board; and is associated with the Stylophone. During the 1960s and 1970s, Harris became a popular television personality in the UK, later presenting shows such as Rolf's Cartoon Club and Animal Hospital. In 2005, he painted an official portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. He lived in Bray, Berkshire, England, for more than six decades.
Harris's career as a popular entertainer was ended by his conviction and imprisonment for sexual offences. In 2014, at the age of 84, he was jailed on twelve counts of indecent assault that took place between 1968 and 1986, on four female victims then aged between eight and nineteen. As a result, he was stripped of many of the honours which he had been awarded during his career, including the OA and CBE. As of 2015, Harris is serving a prison sentence of 5 years and 9 months at HMP Stafford.
Sir James Wilson Vincent "Jimmy" Savile, OBE, KCSG (/ˈsævəl/, /ˈsævɪl/; 31 October 1926 – 29 October 2011) was an English DJ, television and radio personality, dance hall manager, and charity fundraiser. He hosted the BBC television show Jim'll Fix It, was the first and last presenter of the long-running BBC music chart show Top of the Pops, and raised an estimated £40 million for charities. At the time of his death he was widely praised for his personal qualities and as a fund-raiser. After his death, hundreds of allegations of sexual abuse were made against him, leading the police to believe that Savile was a predatory sex offender—possibly one of Britain's most prolific. There had been allegations during his lifetime, but they were dismissed and accusers ignored or disbelieved; Savile took legal action against some accusers.
Savile was conscripted to work in the coal mines as a Bevin Boy during the Second World War. He began a career playing records in, and later managing, dance halls, and was said to have been the first disc jockey to use twin turntables to keep music in constant play. His media career started as a disc jockey at Radio Luxembourg in 1958 and on Tyne Tees Television in 1960, and he developed a reputation for eccentricity and flamboyance. At the BBC, he presented the first edition of Top of the Pops in 1964 and broadcast on Radio 1 from 1968. From 1975 until 1994, he presented Jim'll Fix It, a popular television programme in which he arranged for the wishes of viewers, mainly children, to come true. During his lifetime, he was noted for fund-raising and supporting charities and hospitals, in particular Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury, Leeds General Infirmary and Broadmoor Hospital in Berkshire. In 2009 he was described by The Guardian as a "prodigious philanthropist" and was honoured for his charity work. He was awarded the OBE in 1971 and was knighted in 1990.

Two Little Boys. The song "Two Little Boys" sung by Rolf Harris. From Wikipedia, "Two Little Boys" is a popular song written by Theodore Morse and Edward Madden. 30/06/2014 Rolf Harris - A Look Back At The Trial
Footage filmed in 1992 by ITV West shows television entertainer and convicted sex abuser Rolf Harris joking with Jimmy Savile as he draws a portrait of him. Harris, known to generations of children in Britain for his friendly screen presence, was found guilty on Monday of a string of indecent assaults on young girls that took place from the 1960s to the 1980s. In the video Harris is seen joking with Savile that they go back a "long time". "What was it? Several weeks ago wasn't it when we first met?" he said. Harris then presents Savile with a portrait which he has drawn of him, to which he replies: "I see strong character lines, I see liquid brown eyes and I see the firm jutting chin, all together makes a horrible sight." Rolf Harris and his Sun Arise is a well loved song from my youth. So in the slide show there are images of the sun rising ... Rolf ... a few Australian animals and of course, some of Rolfies fantastic art ... though there is a Monet popped in there. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Apparently the Kangaroo Paws that Rolf mentions in the third verse are flowers native to Australia not as I pictured the paws of Kangaroos. They can be seen on this site http://www.anbg.gov.au/anigozanthos/ Thank you ronnie758day for educating me :~) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rolf has had a long career on tv mostly BBC. He had his own The Rolf Harris Show on BBC in 1967, and through the 70's and early 80's when he had Rolf on Saturday OK? Between 88 and 92 he presented Rolf's Cartoon Clu...
Liberace introducing a solo act on his show seems rather a rarity, but here is Rolf Harris singing Jake the Peg. Look out for right at the end when Liberace has three hands on his piano!
This special, broadcast on BBC One on 1 January 2006, showed the creation of Harris's 80th birthday portrait painting of Queen Elizabeth II. It was highly publicised because the Queen had never been seen on such a programme before. In it, Harris goes to Buckingham Palace where he meets the Queen and paints her in an impressionist style.
Star Portraits with Rolf Harris was a BBC television series that had three series, the most recent of which was in March 2007. In it, three artists each painted a picture of a celebrity, and then the celebrity got to choose to keep one of the paintings. It was presented by artist and television personality Rolf Harris. Peregrine Heathcote was invited to participate in Series Two (2005) of Star Portraits and locked horns with two other artists to paint a portrait of Cilla Black. Happily, after the initial sitting and a two week period in his own studio, Cilla Black chose Peregrine's portrait of her as the winner of the episode. After each series was over, the paintings went on a touring exhibition around Britain.
In 1985, Rolf Harris made a short documentary to help warn children about child molesters and pedophiles. What you are about to see may shock and appall you.
In celebration of the Queen's diamond jubilee, Rolf Harris joins Anneka Rice and a team of sixty inspirational artists as they try to capture sixty years of royal history on canvas. Rolf will be throwing open the doors of his specially-constructed 'pop-up art school' to artists of all ages and abilities as, for one day only, they set up easel and pick up their brushes to pay tribute to our Queen. With Rolf as their mentor, the artists will be able to pick up tips and techniques from the man who has become one of Britain's favourite artists and entertainers. Joining Rolf is amateur artist Anneka Rice. Anneka has been out and about collecting stories and meeting people with their own memories of the Queen's reign. Not only will she be painting, but she will also face a huge challenge; as s...

In 2005, Aine Divine was selected as one of three artists to paint the late Dr. Mo Mowlam on BBC1's "Star Portraits" with Rolf Harris and was delighted when Mo chose her painting as the one she wanted to keep.
This is probably mostly of interest to other people who appear in the video. Yes, I was Christopher Robin. This was from 1980, long before my family had a VCR. We got this on tape many years after the event following a chance encounter my mother had with Miss Martin from Colneis. More recently my very good friend was able to copy from the tape to a DVD and now I have copied from the tape to youtube. Please pass this around to anyone you know who might be in he video. Oh, and if you are in the video why not tell us who you are and what time you appear. Gareth

[Lyrics Rolf Harris - Botany Bay] Farewell to old England forever, Farewell to you numb-skulls as well. And farewell to the well-known Old Bailey Where I always did look such a swell. Singing too-ra-li oo-ra-li ad-dy, Singing too-ra-li oo-ra-li ay, Singing too-ra-li oo-ra-li ad-dy, And I'll see you in Botany Bay. Now my crime against the whole British Nation Was to take some dry bread one fine day, T'was death, or it was transportation, So they tossed up a coin and sent me away. Singing too-ra-li oo-ra-li ad-dy, Singing too-ra-li oo-ra-li ay, Singing too-ra-li oo-ra-li ad-dy, And I'll see you in Botany Bay. Now there's the Captain, he's our commander, There's the bosun and all of the crew, There's the first and second class passengers, Know what we poor convicts...
[Lyrics Rolf Harris - A Pub With No Beer] It's lonesome away from your kindred and all By the campfire at night where the wild dingoes call But there's nothing so lonesome, morbid or drear Than to stand in the bar of a pub with no beer. Now the publican's anxious for the quota to come And there's a faraway look on the face of the bum The maid's gone all cranky and the cook's acting queer Oh what a terrible place is a pub with no beer. Then the stockman rides up with his dry dusty throat He breasts up to the bar and pulls a wad from his coat But the smile on his face quickly turns to a sneer As the barman says sadly The pub's got no beer. Then the swaggy comes in smothered in dust and flies He throws down his roll and rubs the sweat from his eyes But when he is told he...
