Canberra Olympic FC is an Australian semi-professional soccer club based in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. The club was founded in 1955, and currently competes in the National Premier Leagues ACT.
Olympic was founded in the early 1950s. Formally the name Olympic was decided in a General Meeting of players and committee member in 1955. The names proposed for the team was either Olympic or AEK. Olympic appears to have played in competitive games in Grade 2 in 1955. Biggest Win was 25-0 against Cooma in Division 2 on May 23, 1971 Biggest Loss has been 8-0 against RMC on 9 October 1955 playing in Grade 2, in the Competition Finals. The 1956 season was split into three Divisions, a vast improvement on the 5 teams that existed only 3 years before. The first Division was cut down from 10 teams to 8 teams. There was a Second Division which initially was set to have 9 teams, but the Naples club withdrew their team from the Division. A Reserve Grade was created and although there was promise for a number of teams to play, eventually only 4 existed. In the Second Division, Olympic won convincingly taking maximum points from the games played. This won them promotion to the 1957 Division 1 with last placed team Dnipro being relegated.
Canberra (/ˈkænbrə/ or /ˈkænbərə/) is the capital city of Australia. With a population of 381,488, it is Australia's largest inland city and the eighth-largest city overall. The city is located at the northern end of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), 280 km (170 mi) south-west of Sydney, and 660 km (410 mi) north-east of Melbourne. A resident of Canberra is known as a "Canberran".
The site of Canberra was selected for the location of the nation's capital in 1908 as a compromise between rivals Sydney and Melbourne, Australia's two largest cities. It is unusual among Australian cities, being an entirely planned city outside of any state, similar to Washington, D.C. in the United States or Brasília in Brazil. Following an international contest for the city's design, a blueprint by the Chicago architects Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony Griffin was selected and construction commenced in 1913. The Griffins' plan featured geometric motifs such as circles, hexagons and triangles, and was centred on axes aligned with significant topographical landmarks in the Australian Capital Territory.
Capital Football is the trading name for the ACT Football Federation Incorporated, the state governing body for soccer in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), but also has affiliated clubs based in surrounding areas of New South Wales. It is affiliated with the Football Federation Australia, the national governing body.
The organisation was formerly known as the ACT Soccer Federation Incorporated, the name being changed in 2005 to reflect the 'rebranding' of the sport nationally. It also operated under the trading name of Soccer Canberra prior to being known as Capital Football. The Capital Football office is located at Football House in Deakin on the southern side of Canberra.

The following year the club joined the Queensland Soccer Federation, changing its name to Brisbane Olympic United as a condition of joining the federation. After playing in the QSL in 2008 and 2009, the club elected to play in the Brisbane Premier League for the 2010 season. Olympic finished 5th in their first season back in the division, losing out in the finals series to Capalaba Bulldogs in the semi-final.
