Crystal Gayle (born Brenda Gail Webb on January 9, 1951) is an American country music singer. Best known for her 1977 country-pop crossover hit song, "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue", she had 20 number one country hits during the 1970s and 1980s (18 on Billboard and 2 on Cashbox) with six albums certified Gold by the RIAA. Crystal Gayle became the first female artist in country music history to reach Platinum sales with her 1977 album We Must Believe in Magic. Also famous for her nearly floor-length hair, she was voted one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world by People Magazine in 1983. She is the younger sister of singer Loretta Lynn, and a distant cousin of singer Patty Loveless. Gayle has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame near Loretta Lynn's star.
Brenda Gail Webb was born in Paintsville, Kentucky, to coal miner Theodore Melvin "Ted" Webb (October 24, 1906 – February 23, 1959) and Clara Marie "Clary" Ramey (May 5, 1912 – November 24, 1981). The youngest of eight children of a poor family, she was the only child born in a hospital. Her family moved north to Wabash, Indiana, when she was four. She would sing along with country and pop songs on the radio; and, though a shy child, she was encouraged by her mother to sing for visitors to their house. Inspired by her sister Loretta Lynn's success, she learned to play the guitar and sing backup in her brothers' folk band. While still in high school, she began to tour with her sister for a few weeks each summer.
Edward Thomas "Eddie" Rabbitt (November 27, 1941 – May 7, 1998) was an American singer and songwriter. His career began as a songwriter in the late 1960s, springboarding to a recording career after composing hits such as "Kentucky Rain" for Elvis Presley in 1970 and "Pure Love" for Ronnie Milsap in 1974. Later in the 1970s, Rabbitt helped to develop the crossover-influenced sound of country music prevalent in the 1980s with such hits as "Suspicions" and "Every Which Way but Loose." His duets "Both to Each Other (Friends and Lovers)" and "You and I", with Juice Newton and Crystal Gayle respectively, later appeared on the soap operas Days of Our Lives and All My Children.
Rabbitt was born to Irish immigrants in Brooklyn, New York in 1941, and was raised in the nearby community of East Orange, New Jersey. His father was an oil-refinery refrigeration worker, and a skilled fiddle and accordion player, who often entertained in local New York City dance halls. By age twelve Rabbitt was a proficient guitar player, having been taught by his scoutmaster, Bob Scwickrath. During his childhood Rabbitt became a self-proclaimed "walking encyclopedia of country music". After his parents divorced, he dropped out of school at age sixteen. His mother, Mae, explained this action by saying that Eddie "was never one for school [because] his head was too full of music." He later obtained a high school diploma after taking courses at night school.

Why Have You Left The One You Left Me For (1979)
Why have you left the one you left me for?
Has she heard, like me, that slamming door?
Did you leave for good or just get bored?
Why have you left the one you left me for?
Is she what you wanted?
Or has time changed your mind?
Has your dream love gone crazy?
And what brings you here tonight?
Why have you left the one you left me for?
Has she heard, like me, that slamming door?
Did you leave for good or just get bored?
Why have you left the one you left me for?
I can see you're hurting
But I'm not sure if it's real!
How can I really hold you?
When I don't, when I don't know how you feel?
Why have you left the one you left me for?
Has she heard, like me, that slamming door?
Did you leave for good or just get bored?
Why have you left the one you left me for?
Okay, come on in! You be my lover! I'll be your friend!
You don't have to tell me, and I won't ask again!
Why have you left the one you left me for?
Has she heard, like me, that slamming door?
Did you leave for good or just get bored?
Why have you left the one you left me for?
Why have you left the one you left me for?
Has she heard, like me, that slamming door?
Did you leave for good or just get bored?
