Bombers is a documentary that explores the IRA's (Provisional IRA). I explores the evolution of the IRA's bomb making capabilities making the organisation the world's experts at bomb making and their technology discovered all over the world from the jungles of Colombia to the places in the Middle East such as Iraq, Palestine and Lebanon. The IRA can be credited for the creation of the ANFO car bomb, under-car booby traps (Mercury tilt switch bombs), radio controlled bombs, mobile phone triggering bombs (which it developed in the early 1990's), IR (Infrared triggered bombs). Various improvised mortar devices it called (Barrack Busters) which also lead it to create an improvised rocket launcher it named the 'PRIG' (Propelled Projected Recoilless Improvised Grenade) and other improvised anti-tank weaponry, some of which weren't ever used against the British. Drogue bomb bombs (Improvised stick grenades contain SEMTEX-H Plastic Explosives). It even got as far as creating a home-made SAM (Surface to Air Missile) system however a American Mitre Company scientist who was helping the IRA, along with another man from the South Armagh Brigade of the IRA, who was studying computer science (Martin Quigley, from Dundalk) was arrested by the FBI before it was to be adapted by the IRA. They were arrested after Richard Johnson the American Mitre Company Scientist caught 2 FBI agents in his car planting a listening device.
As a technical response, the British Army and Ministry of Defense deployed the world's most sophisticated technology to counter the IRA, especially in South Armagh. Where both the IRA and the British Army engaged in a battled nick-named 'The battle for the remote control' which was in reference to the IRA's and British Army battle down the Electromagnet Spectrum in order for the IRA to donate bombs without the frequency being jammed. In South Armagh, the British Army built huge observation posts or Watchtowers the countryside. These towers had used microwave technology to transmit live footage of the area to places such as Portadown and Belfast. It also had thermal imagery cameras, night vision and cameras that could read car number plates long well before any international police forces could. It also had sound sensors capable of detecting gunfire and how far it was away. The IRA had successfully learned their secrets and used stolen number plates from the same type and colour of vehicles to transport their bombs. It also concluded that they could only observe 35% of South Armagh in good weather and around 10-15% if it was worse.

The Tupolev Tu-160 (Russian: Туполев Ту-160, NATO reporting name: Blackjack) is a supersonic, variable-sweep wing heavy strategic bomber designed by the Tupolev Design Bureau in the Soviet Union. Although several civil and military transport aircraft are larger in overall dimensions, the Tu-160 is the world's largest combat aircraft, largest supersonic aircraft and largest variable-sweep aircraft built. Only the North American XB-70 Valkyrie had higher empty weight and maximum speed. The Tu-160 has the heaviest take off weight of any military aircraft besides transports.
Entering service in 1987, the Tu-160 was the last strategic bomber designed for the Soviet Union. The Long Range Aviation branch of the Russian Air Force has 16 aircraft with fewer in active use. The Tu-160 active fleet has been undergoing upgrades to electronics systems since the early 2000s. The Tu-160M modernisation programme has begun with the first new updated aircraft delivered in December 2014.

A bomber is a military aircraft designed to attack ground and sea targets, by dropping bombs on them, or – in recent years – by launching cruise missiles at them.
Strategic bombing are heavy bombers primarily designed for long-range bombing missions against strategic targets such as supply bases, bridges, factories, shipyards, and cities themselves, in order to damage an enemy's war effort. Current examples include the strategic nuclear-armed strategic bombers: B-2 Spirit, B-52 Stratofortress, Tupolev Tu-95 'Bear', Tupolev Tu-22M 'Backfire'; historically notable examples are the: Gotha G, Avro Lancaster, Heinkel He-111, Junkers Ju 88, B-17 Flying Fortress, B-24 Liberator, B-29 Superfortress, and Tupolev Tu-16 'Badger'.
Tactical bombing , aimed at enemy military units and installations, is typically assigned to smaller aircraft operating at shorter ranges, typically along the troops on the ground or sea. This role is filled by various aircraft tactical bomber classes, as different as light bombers, medium bombers, dive bombers, interdictors, fighter-bombers, ground-attack aircraft, multirole combat aircraft, among others. Current examples: F-15E Strike Eagle, F/A-18 Hornet, Sukhoi Su-34 'Fullback', Chengdu J-10, Xian JH-7, Dassault-Breguet Mirage 2000, and the Panavia Tornado; historical examples: Ilyushin Il-2 Shturmovik, Heinkel He 111, Dornier Do 17, Dornier Do 215, Junkers Ju 88, Junkers Ju 87 Stuka, P-47 Thunderbolt, Hawker Typhoon, and F-4 Phantom II.

Bombers is a documentary that explores the IRA's (Provisional IRA). I explores the evolution of the IRA's bomb making capabilities making the organisation the world's experts at bomb making and their technology discovered all over the world from the jungles of Colombia to the places in the Middle East such as Iraq, Palestine and Lebanon. The IRA can be credited for the creation of the ANFO car bomb, under-car booby traps (Mercury tilt switch bombs), radio controlled bombs, mobile phone triggering bombs (which it developed in the early 1990's), IR (Infrared triggered bombs). Various improvised mortar devices it called (Barrack Busters) which also lead it to create an improvised rocket launcher it named the 'PRIG' (Propelled Projected Recoilless Improvised Grenade) and other improvised anti-tank weaponry, some of which weren't ever used against the British. Drogue bomb bombs (Improvised stick grenades contain SEMTEX-H Plastic Explosives). It even got as far as creating a home-made SAM (Surface to Air Missile) system however a American Mitre Company scientist who was helping the IRA, along with another man from the South Armagh Brigade of the IRA, who was studying computer science (Martin Quigley, from Dundalk) was arrested by the FBI before it was to be adapted by the IRA. They were arrested after Richard Johnson the American Mitre Company Scientist caught 2 FBI agents in his car planting a listening device.
As a technical response, the British Army and Ministry of Defense deployed the world's most sophisticated technology to counter the IRA, especially in South Armagh. Where both the IRA and the British Army engaged in a battled nick-named 'The battle for the remote control' which was in reference to the IRA's and British Army battle down the Electromagnet Spectrum in order for the IRA to donate bombs without the frequency being jammed. In South Armagh, the British Army built huge observation posts or Watchtowers the countryside. These towers had used microwave technology to transmit live footage of the area to places such as Portadown and Belfast. It also had thermal imagery cameras, night vision and cameras that could read car number plates long well before any international police forces could. It also had sound sensors capable of detecting gunfire and how far it was away. The IRA had successfully learned their secrets and used stolen number plates from the same type and colour of vehicles to transport their bombs. It also concluded that they could only observe 35% of South Armagh in good weather and around 10-15% if it was worse.

The Tupolev Tu-160 (Russian: Туполев Ту-160, NATO reporting name: Blackjack) is a supersonic, variable-sweep wing heavy strategic bomber designed by the Tupolev Design Bureau in the Soviet Union. Although several civil and military transport aircraft are larger in overall dimensions, the Tu-160 is the world's largest combat aircraft, largest supersonic aircraft and largest variable-sweep aircraft built. Only the North American XB-70 Valkyrie had higher empty weight and maximum speed. The Tu-160 has the heaviest take off weight of any military aircraft besides transports.
Entering service in 1987, the Tu-160 was the last strategic bomber designed for the Soviet Union. The Long Range Aviation branch of the Russian Air Force has 16 aircraft with fewer in active use. The Tu-160 active fleet has been undergoing upgrades to electronics systems since the early 2000s. The Tu-160M modernisation programme has begun with the first new updated aircraft delivered in December 2014.
