I'm officially a member of the wrap dress club! and what a great feeling it is! I cant wait to wear this dress! It really is so fabulous and I can already think of a thousand different ways to wear the dress which I hope was conveyed in the video.
It feels fabulous on the body and is beyond flattering. Really a comfy dress I can see myself throwing on especially on those nights I dont feel like being uncomfortable.
I did not mention in the video but, DVF boutiques offer custom tailoring if you need or shortened.
Th girl assisting me told me to not tie the dress is a bow. I tied it in the video exactly how she told me to.
FYI, To my Canadian girls watching, if you cannot get it on sale I suggest buying in the USA, it 100$ more in Canada.

I'm #sewhappy because I finally managed to sew sleeves! This has been a biggie for me and besides pants I never really knew how to put in sleeves....until now!
Many of you have asked me for a wrap dress WITH sleeves so here it is! I truly value your support and ideas so keep m coming. I'm blessed I can be your virtual teacher and share my sewing hacks with you. I'm no expert but I have a big passion for sewing and always try to make it as easy as possible. Never been good at math so that's why I also don't include it. I'm just like you so if I can make it, 'sew' can you ;-)

- 2 yards/meter of stretch fabric (but I recommend 3 yards also for plus size models)
- long sleeve fitted top (old clothes or thrift store)
- seam ripper

Wrap dress
A wrap dress is a dress with a front closure formed by wrapping one side across the other, and knotting the attached ties that wrap around the back at the waist or fastening buttons. This forms a V-shaped neckline and hugs a woman's curves. A faux wrap dress resembles this design, except that it comes already fastened together with no opening in front, but instead is slipped on over the head. A wrap top is a woman's top cut and constructed in the same way as a wrap dress, but without a skirt.
History
Although it is often claimed that Diane von Fürstenberg 'invented' the wrap dress in 1972/73,Richard Martin, a former curator of the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, noted that the form of Fürstenberg's design had already been "deeply embedded into the American designer sportswear tradition," with her choice of elastic, synthetic fabrics distinguishing her work from earlier wrap dresses. Wrap dresses had been designed by Elsa Schiaparelli in the 1930s, and Claire McCardell in the 1940s, whose original 'popover' design became the basis for a variety of wrap-around dresses.

DVF Wrap Dress
I'm officially a member of the wrap dress club! and what a great feeling it is! I cant wait to wear this dress! It really is so fabulous and I can already think of a thousand different ways to wear the dress which I hope was conveyed in the video. It feels fabulous on the body and is beyond flattering. Really a comfy dress I can see myself throwing on especially on those nights I dont feel like being uncomfortable. I did not mention in the video but, DVF boutiques offer custom tailoring if you need or shortened. Th girl assisting me told me to not tie the dress is a bow. I tied it in the video exactly how she told me to. FYI, To my Canadian girls watching, if you cannot get it on sale I suggest buying in the USA, it 100$ more in Canada. xo

I'm #sewhappy because I finally managed to sew sleeves! This has been a biggie for me and besides pants I never really knew how to put in sleeves....until now!
Many of you have asked me for a wrap dress WITH sleeves so here it is! I truly value your support and ideas so keep m coming. I'm blessed I can be your virtual teacher and share my sewing hacks with you. I'm no expert but I have a big passion for sewing and always try to make it as easy as possible. Never been good at math so that's why I also don't include it. I'm just like you so if I can make it, 'sew' can you ;-)
Enjoy the DIY wrap dress tutorial!
What I used:
- 2 yards/meter of stretch fabric (but I recommend 3 yards also for plus size models)
- long sleeve fitted top (old clothes or thrift store)
- seam ripper
- thread
- fabric scissors
- pins
- sewing machine (I use Brother DS140 http://rstyle.me/~2ieBk)
