Visual art of The United States and/or American art encompasses the history of painting and visual art in the United States. In the late 18th and early 19th centuries, artists primarily painted landscapes and portraits in a realistic style based mainly on Western painting and European arts. A parallel development taking shape in rural America was the American craft movement, which began as a reaction to the industrial revolution.
Developments in modern art in Europe came to America from exhibitions in New York City such as the Armory Show in 1913. After World War II, New York replaced Paris as the center of the art world. Since then many American movements have shaped Modern and Postmodern art. Art in the United States today covers a huge range of styles.

Recorded in concert at WRIF "Live at Hart Plaza" concert series, Detroit Michigan in August 1982. Sorry for the cut-off I will load up the ending to this song and several others from this show.

This was our normal concert intro. We were a band of limited means and limited sound checks. Our beginning intro was as much of a warm-up for us band members as it was a warm-up for our guy at the soundboard, setting levels (Tom Percha). He often had to really work at getting our harp heard, next to the clatter of the drums, Stratocaster guitar, Rickenbacker bass guitar and Moog bass pedals. Keyboards by Kent Richards are included in the song starting after this concert intro.

This was was burned for me to cassette tape, by Eddy Offord, directly off of his master tape. The dimensional sound space is better, it is analog to analog (ultimately digital of course). The deep rich bass pedals are evident as is the vocal harmony. To these ears, the entire thing sounds more musical. I have kept the cassette in moth balls all these years and I have decided to share it with whoever is interested. ---- Chris Flynn
In regards to the guitar solo by Steve Morse. At the end of this project, I took a very bad spill off a bicycle and broke my left clavicle. I was unable to play guitar after that and the guitar solo in this song was undone. Steve was kind enough to offer his help. Ultimately he did a great solo, certainly better than I could have ever accomplished --- Chris Flynn

We were always a fan of the Moody Blues version and after playing it at rehearsals for fun decided to incorporate it into our set. The video here is taken from two separate Art in America Los Angeles shows in 1995, with the audio taken from The Basement rehearsals the week before the shows. The first show was at The Dragonfly in Hollywood on May 26, 1995, which was a showcase for producer Eddy Offord who produced our first album. This was recorded during the same session as "Shadows in the Corner" and "How To" at David Hasselhoff's NoHo Recording Studio in North Hollywood, CA. This is a "take 2" version. The only overdub from the session, on the band backing track, is a bit of acoustic guitar I laid down. However, I did add some horns (samples) a while later in my home studio. "Go Now" is a song written by Larry Banks and Milton Bennett and originally recorded in 1964 by Larry Bank's former wife, Bessie Banks, which is a great version of this song. We were always a fan of the Moody Blues version and after playing it at rehearsals for fun decided to incorporate it into our set. The video here is taken from two separate Art in America Los Angeles shows in 1995, with the audio taken from The Basement rehearsals the week before the shows. The first show was at The Dragonfly in Hollywood on May 26, 1995, which was a showcase for producer Eddy Offord who produced our first album. Eddy was there with his wife Valma and loved the new music and was eager to produce a new AIA album but with no record company in place it was never to be. The second show was at The Coconut Teaszer, also in Hollywood on the Sunset Strip, on June 6, 1995. The audio here is from The Basement Rehearsal Studio recorded onto cassette with two microphones in a cozy 20' x 20' rehearsal room. I remastered the audio at my home studio, Amber Sky Studios, in Porter Ranch, CA. This lineup of Art in America was Chris Flynn, guitars and vocals, Garry Galloway, keyboards and vocals, Dan Flynn on drums and myself, Jim Kuha, on bass and bass pedals, guitar and vocals. The video was taken by my wife Lynn who was very pregnant with our son Josh at these shows.

This was recorded during the same session as "Shadows in the Corner" and "How To" at David Hasselhoff's NoHo Recording Studio in North Hollywood, CA. This is a "take 2" version. The only overdub from the session, on the band backing track, is a bit of acoustic guitar I laid down. However, I did add some horns (samples) a while later in my home studio. I particularly like Dan's drumming on this one.. He is deeply in the pocket.
This song began as a verse piano and bass part from Jim and Garry. This was recorded during the same session as "Shadows in the Corner" and "How To" at David Hasselhoff's NoHo Recording Studio in North Hollywood, CA. This is a "take 2" version. The only overdub from the session, on the band backing track, is a bit of acoustic guitar I laid down. However, I did add some horns (samples) a while later in my home studio. I particularly like Dan's drumming on this one.. He is deeply in the pocket.
