Boy Meets World

Boy Meets World is an American television sitcom that chronicles the coming of age events and everyday life-lessons of Cornelius "Cory" Matthews (played by Ben Savage). The show follows Cory and his friends and family through seven seasons, from his middle school days as a pre-pubescent child to his life in college as a married man. The show aired from 1993 to 2000 on ABC, part of the network's TGIF lineup. The entire series has since been released on DVD, as well as on iTunes. A sequel titled Girl Meets World, focusing on Cory and his pre-teen daughter Riley, began airing on Disney Channel on June 27, 2014.

Synopsis

Season 1: Middle school

The first season begins with Cory Matthews (Ben Savage) and his best friend Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong), two average sixth-graders. They do not care about schoolwork, despite the efforts of their longtime teacher George Feeny (William Daniels). Initially, their main interest is sports, though later Shawn and then Cory begin to express an interest in girls. This season focuses specifically on Cory's relationships with the other characters in the show. He begins to understand his parents more and respect them for all that they do. His relationship with his older brother Eric (Will Friedle) becomes confusing as Eric's constant obsession with girls is foreign to Cory, and he becomes more protective of his little sister Morgan (Lily Nicksay from this season through the end of the second season). Cory begins to show interest in Topanga (Danielle Fishel), a smart outsider in his class, though he often hides this by insulting and berating her. Cory and Topanga have known each other since they were kids, making romance in their relationship even more predictable. Cory and Shawn's friendship is tested for the first time, and Cory must often choose between doing what Shawn wants him to do and doing what is best for their friendship.

Girl Meets World

Girl Meets World is an American coming of age television sitcom. The series made its debut on June 27, 2014, on Disney Channel.

The series is a sequel to the sitcom Boy Meets World, which aired on ABC in its TGIF block from 1993 to 2000. The original series centered on Cornelius "Cory" Matthews, including his growing relationship with Topanga Lawrence and their eventual marriage. Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel, who portrayed Cory and Topanga, reprise their roles in Girl Meets World, which centers on the life of the couple's daughter, Riley Matthews. Her father has become a middle school teacher, while her mother is a lawyer, who gains part ownership of an old world bakery in the first season episode "Girl Meets Popular". Other members of the Boy Meets World cast have either recurring roles or cameo appearances.

The third season of Girl Meets World was announced on November 25, 2015 with production to begin in January 2016 and premiere Spring 2016.

Plot

The series takes place several years after Boy Meets World in New York City, where Cory and Topanga Matthews moved to in the finale of the series, and follows their daughter Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard) and her best friend Maya Hart (Sabrina Carpenter) as they navigate the challenges of life and junior high school. Following along with them are their classmates, Lucas Friar (Peyton Meyer) and Farkle Minkus (Corey Fogelmanis), and Riley's younger brother, Auggie (August Maturo).

Lily Nicksay

Lily Nicksay (born January 8, 1988) is an actress most famous for her role as Morgan Matthews, Cory's little sister, during the first two seasons of Boy Meets World (replaced by Lindsay Ridgeway in season 3). Her other television credits include Judging Amy, The Guardian and 8 Simple Rules. She appeared in feature films like The Negotiator and Up Close & Personal. She is also seen in a UPS commercial featuring an operations manager in a company called Gunderman Group. After her days on the show, she left to study in England.

Ben Savage

Bennett Joseph "Ben" Savage (born September 13, 1980) is an American actor. He is best known for his lead role as Cory Matthews on the ABC sitcom Boy Meets World (1993–2000) and its Disney Channel spin-off series Girl Meets World (2014–present).

Early life

Savage was born in Highland Park, Illinois, the son of Joanne and Lewis Savage, who were an industrial real estate broker and a consultant. His brother is actor/director Fred Savage, and his sister is actress/musician Kala Savage. His grandparents were Jewish and from Poland, Ukraine, Germany, and Latvia, and Savage was raised in Reform Judaism.

Career

Savage made his film debut at the age of 9 in his brother Fred's hit Little Monsters (1989) and appeared in the feature films Big Girls Don't Cry... They Get Even (1992), as Sam, the brainy little brother, and as a 10-year-old in Clifford (1994), the latter starring Martin Short. Savage's stage debut was in The Laughter Epidemic at the Pasadena Playhouse. He also guest starred on his brother Fred's TV series The Wonder Years in the Valentine's Day episode.
