Although the slasher film was in decline by the mid-1980s, there were still some grisly delights to be had… and they don’t come much grislier than writer-director Buddy Cooper’s sickening stalk-and-slash classic The Mutilator!
When Ed receives a message from his father asking him to go and lock up the family’s beach condo for the winter, it seems like the perfect excuse for an alcohol-fuelled few days away with his friends. After all, his dad has forgiven him for accidentally blowing mom away with a shotgun several years ago… hasn’t he? But no sooner are the teens on the island than they find themselves stalked by a figure with an axe (and a hook, and an onboard motor) to grind…
Originally entitled Fall Break (watch out for the incongruous theme song of the same name!), The Mutilator has earned a reputation amongst horror fans as one of the ‘holy grails’ of 80s splatter mayhem due to its highly inventive (and not to say, decidedly gruesome) kill sequences, courtesy of FX wizard Mark Shostrom (Videodrome, Evil Dead II). Finally making its long-awaited bow in High-Definition, The Mutilator has returned to terrorise a whole new generation of horror fans!

Matt Mitler is an American actor and voice actor best known for multiple roles on the television series Pokémon . He is also the director of Theatre Group Dzieci (the polish word for "children") that works in hospitals and psychiatric wards and produces experimental work such as the critically acclaimed "Fools Mass" which was presented at the Parliament of the World's Religions in Barcelona in 2004. In his early career, he appeared in horror films including The Mutilator.
Matt Mitler was initially trained in Humanistic and Existential Psychology, and Group Process before embarking on a lifelong exploration of theatre. He personally considers his therapeutic study with such notables as R.D. Laing and Carl Rogers to be equal to his theatrical study with Jerzy Grotowski and The Polish Theatre Laboratory. Combining these two pursuits, he began to lead workshops in a variety of settings including Hutchings Psychiatric Center (NY); The National Theatre School of Sweden; and the graduate school of The University of Psychology of Warsaw, where, in 1980, his essay, "Art and Therapy" was published in the anthology, New Directions in Psychotherapy.

Although the slasher film was in decline by the mid-1980s, there were still some grisly delights to be had… and they don’t come much grislier than writer-director Buddy Cooper’s sickening stalk-and-slash classic The Mutilator!
When Ed receives a message from his father asking him to go and lock up the family’s beach condo for the winter, it seems like the perfect excuse for an alcohol-fuelled few days away with his friends. After all, his dad has forgiven him for accidentally blowing mom away with a shotgun several years ago… hasn’t he? But no sooner are the teens on the island than they find themselves stalked by a figure with an axe (and a hook, and an onboard motor) to grind…

Dzieci (djyeh-chee) is an international experimental theatre ensemble dedicated to a search for the "sacred" through the medium of theatre. Using techniques garnered from such theatre masters as Jerzy Grotowski, Eugenio Barba and Peter Brook, ritual forms derived from Native American and Eastern spiritual disciplines, and an ethic based securely in Humanistic Psychology, Dzieci aims to create a theatre that is as equally engaged with personal transformation as it is with public presentation.
Towards this aim, the ensemble balances work on performance with work of service, through creative and therapeutic interaction in hospitals and a variety of institutional settings. Dzieci believes that helping others generates a profound healing effect that not only serves the patient but also strengthens the ensemble's work.
Dzieci is firmly dedicated to process. Our theatrical creations evolve organically over a long span of time, and a relationship with the world around us is essential. Therefore, public presentations of the work in progress are offered along the way, along with para-theatrical workshops, which invite participants to experience the work underlying our most current investigations.
Note: "Dzieci" is the Polish word for "Children".

The 8-minute micro-documentary, Art Stars: The Children of Jack Smith is, broadly speaking, an investigation into the influence of cinema on New York City performance art and artists. Jack Smith, a performance artist and filmmaker living and working in New York in the 60s, 70s and 80s, is best known for the controversial underground film, Flaming Creatures, which was central to the battle against censorship in NYC in the 1960s. Smith was profoundly influenced by cinema in both his films and live performances especially by the 1940s actress, Maria Montez. My subtitle, The Children of Jack Smith, can be understood as referring to two modes of influence on todays performers. The first is simply the way in which todays artists work are influenced by cinema in general contemporary, period, underground, or mainstream in the same way that Jack Smiths work was influenced by a particular style of film. The second interpretation is the way in which todays artists are specifically influenced by the Jack Smiths work itself his movies, performances, writing and philosophy. As evidenced by the documentary on the artist, Jack Smith and the Destruction of Atlantis, Smith had a profound influence on the performance artists of his time, and it was they that laid the foundation on which todays performers build.
I interviewed three artists for the film: writer, performer, filmmaker and sex columnist Reverend Jen Miller; filmmaker, former b-movie actor, and proprietor of the underground performance venue Surf Reality, Robert Prichard; and Velocity Chyalld, extreme burlesque performer/producer, and front woman for the band Vulgaras. All 3 have very different relationships to cinema. Reverend Jen has written and directed films, several in collaboration with filmmaker Nick Zedd. She produces a superhero TV show on cable access called Electra Elf and Fluffer featuring her 7-year old Chihuahua, Reverend Jen Junior, as her trusty skateboarding sidekick. Robert Prichard began as an actor in B-movie cinema, starring in the Troma films The Toxic Avenger and Class of Nuke Em High. He subsequently made underground films in NYC in the early 90s with filmmaker Matt Mitler, in what they called the Movie of the Month Club. In 1993, he opened the underground performance venue, Surf Reality, where he produced, directed, and performed in hundreds of productions. Velocity Chyalld is not a filmmaker, but a performance artist who takes the art of burlesque as a starting point, from which she leaps to, and dances on, the edges of acceptability. An aficionado of a diverse array of genres from David Lynch to Jean Harlow Velocity appropriates cinematic imagery for her performances whether borrowing the image of Harry Dean Stanton singing into a construction lamp in Blue Velvet for a live performance, or evoking the image of the 1940s Femme Fatale into her music videos.

She produces a superhero TV show on cable access called Electra Elf and Fluffer featuring her 7-year old Chihuahua, Reverend Jen Junior, as her trusty skateboarding sidekick. Robert Prichard began as an actor in B-movie cinema, starring in the Troma films The Toxic Avenger and Class of Nuke Em High. He subsequently made underground films in NYC in the early 90s with filmmaker Matt Mitler, in what they called the Movie of the Month Club. In 1993, he opened the underground performance venue, Surf Reality, where he produced, directed, and performed in hundreds of productions. Velocity Chyalld is not a filmmaker, but a performance artist who takes the art of burlesque as a starting point, from which she leaps to, and dances on, the edges of acceptability. An aficionado of a diverse array of genres from David Lynch to Jean Harlow Velocity appropriates cinematic imagery for her performances whether borrowing the image of Harry Dean Stanton singing into a construction lamp in Blue Velvet for a live performance, or evoking the image of the 1940s Femme Fatale into her music videos.

Milton Miller, a traveller, adventurer, and avid motorcycle enthusiast. He created his blog to talk about the challenge of a lifetime: Running from Miami to Los Angeles, to raise money for ECYE, a fabulous organization that helps kids in one of the poorest parts of Africa.
