Plot: "Olivia Gold" the protagonist of "The Day My Towers Fell" is a downtown city kid who has two working parents and a Grandpa who is her babysitter and best friend. Together they have a rich imaginary life, fueled by Grandpa's storytimes. When Olivia decides to become a knight of the round table after listening to the story of King Arthur, her grandfather tells her she must first perform a heroic deed. Thus begins the quest for Olivia who must discover what it means to become a hero in a world where there are no dragons to slay or princesses to save. Olivia an ordinary little girl, ends up performing a heroic deed, under extraordinary circumstances.

Plot: Hungarian physicist Leo Szilard leaves Europe, eventually arriving in the United States. With the help of Einstein, he persuades the government to build an atomic bomb. The project is given to no-nonsense Gen. Leslie Groves who selects physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer to head the Los Alamos Laboratory in New Mexico, where the bomb is built. As World War II draws to a close, Szilard has second thoughts about atomic weapons, and policy makers debate how and when to use the bomb.

Plot: It's Joy Stanhope's, a Park Avenue debutante, coming-out party. It's the event of the winter and everyone is there, including the most eligible bachelor, Jimmy Wolverton. Chris Hanson, Joy's secret romance isn't. Joy knows her parents wouldn't approve of Chris being starving violinst and a son of poor immigrants. Plot: A renowned doctor and his brother live and work together until the brother falls in love with Marie, a singer, and gives up medicine to be with her. After a time however, she misses her old life and goes back on the stage - an act which leads her lover to commit suicide. Later the doctor and Marie also meet, and she becomes his mistress. He finds out about his brother's suicide and goes through his artifacts looking for a clue as to what might have been the cause. He finds a photograph of Marie and realizes the truth, which decimates their relationship.
