Pat Collins is an American lighting designer.
Collins made her Broadway debut with a 1976 revival of Threepenny Opera. Her additional New York City credits include Ain't Misbehavin', King of Hearts, I'm Not Rappaport, Execution of Justice, The Heidi Chronicles, Conversations with My Father, The Sisters Rosensweig, Proof, Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, and Doubt.
In 1986, Collins won the Tony Award for Best Lighting Design for I'm Not Rappaport and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Lighting Design for Execution of Justice.
Pat Collins has also been active with regional theaters such as Hartford Stage Company, Goodman Theater, McCarter Theater, Steppenwolf, Lincoln Center, Mark Taper Forum, Old Globe Theater and Ford’s Theater.
In the production "Good People", Pat Collins goal was to bring naturalism to the show. Collins was aware not only of the need to hear actors but also the need to see them speak. She says that the lighting was dictated by what scenic designer John Lee Beatty did with the sets, but her job went a little deeper than that. "It is really quite specific in its locations, and it is about trying to make you believe those locations that became my job as well as making sure that you heard because you could see those actors all of the time."
Tharon Leslie "Pat" Collins (September 13, 1896 – May 20, 1960) was an American baseball catcher who played ten seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB). He played for the St. Louis Browns, New York Yankees and Boston Braves from 1919 to 1929. He batted and threw right-handed and also played five games at first base.
Collins played minor league baseball for the Joplin Miners until 1919, when he signed with the St. Louis Browns. After spending six seasons with the organization, Collins spent a one-year sojourn in the minor leagues before he was traded to the New York Yankees, where he spent the next three years and played in the famous 1927 Murderers' Row lineup. At the conclusion of the 1928 season, he was traded to the Boston Braves, with whom he played his last game on May 23, 1929. A two-time World Series champion, he is famous for being the only major league player to pinch hit and pinch run in the same game.
Collins was born on September 13, 1896 in Sweet Springs, Missouri. His mother, Sarah, ran a boarding house, and he had three siblings: Ola, Mildred, and Rathal. He attended school in Sweet Springs before moving to Kansas City, Kansas to play sandlot ball. He was married to Daisy C. Collins. During his time with the Yankees, his teammate Babe Ruth—who usually called everyone "Kid" due to his inability to remember people's names—mockingly gave Collins the nickname "Horse Nose". After his major league career ended, he went on to run a restaurant in Kansas City, then operate a tavern in Lawrence, Kansas until 1952.
G. Pat Collins, also known as George Pat Collins or Pat Collins (December 16, 1895 – August 5, 1959) was an American actor of the stage and screen.
After serving in US military during World War I, Collins began his acting career in the New York theater scene. His first Broadway appearance was in the 1922 play, The Bootleggers, a short-lived comedy which was produced at the 39th Street Theatre in November and December of that year. He would appear in ten plays between 1922 and 1938.
His film career would last slightly longer, mostly as a character actor or in smaller roles, from 1928 through 1958, during which time he appeared in over 100 films. Collins often played earnest roles like police or military officers. His first film was a silent picture, the 1928 film, The Racket, which stars Louis Wolheim, and in which Collins had a featured role. It would be the only silent film he would make. Two years later, in 1930, Collins would have a featured role in another film with Wolheim, the classic All Quiet on the Western Front.
Fanny Brice (October 29, 1891 – May 29, 1951) was a popular and influential American illustrated song model, comedienne, singer, and theater and film actress who made many stage, radio and film appearances and is known as the creator and star of the top-rated radio comedy series The Baby Snooks Show. Thirteen years after her death, she was portrayed on the Broadway stage by Barbra Streisand in the musical Funny Girl and its 1968 film adaptation, for which Streisand won an Oscar.
Fania Borach was born in New York City, the third child of Rose (née Stern 1867-1941), a Hungarian Jewish woman who emigrated to America at age ten, and Alsatian immigrant Charles Borach. The Boraches were saloon owners and had four children: Phillip, born in 1887; Carrie, born in 1889; Fania, born in 1891; and Louis, born in 1893. Under the name Lew Brice, her younger brother also became an entertainer and was the first husband of actress Mae Clarke. In 1908, Brice dropped out of school to work in a burlesque revue, "The Girls from Happy Land Starring Sliding Billy Watson". Two years later she began her association with Florenz Ziegfeld, headlining his Ziegfeld Follies from 1910 to 1911. She was hired again in 1921 and performed in them into the 1930s. In the 1921 Follies, she was featured singing "My Man" which became both a big hit and her signature song. She made a popular recording of it for Victor Records.
