Team Canada Cadets are fresh off a Silver medal finish at the FIBA Americas, where the team suffered a heart-breaking loss to the USA, after being up 20. Canada is knocking on USA's door, but the Americans won't open it that easily. Canada Basketball Assistant General Manager Rowan Barrett discussed the experience, along with RJ and Simi Shittu.

Fresh of a National championship for Team Nova Scotia, the Atlantic Canada basketball scene has picked up momentum, coinciding with the overall growth of the game from coast-to-coast. During the East Coast NPH Showcase, we had an opportunity to discuss the game with several influential figures, gathering a wide range of perspectives. The North Pole Hoops Showcase Circuit hit Toronto at the University of Toronto's brand new Goldring Centre. The event brought together 150 talented basketball players from grade 8 to 12, who were looking to improve on their game, life skills, diet and nutrition as well as increase the visibility of their individual brand.
NPH founders Elias and Tariq Sbiet say the camp serves to enhance the skill development, character development and national exposure of all the attendees.

Canada Basketball is a non-profit organization and the governing body for basketball in Canada. This national federation was founded in 1923. The organization is responsible for the selection and training of players who represent the Men's and Women's national teams and then represent Canada in international competition, including Olympic, Pan American and FISU Games, as well as the FIBA World Championships. The current President is Therese Quigley, and the CEO is Wayne Parrish.
In addition to its international programs, Canada Basketball oversees programs at amateur and grassroots levels throughout Canada. Some of the influential Canada Basketball Alumni include Steve Nash, Leo Rautins, Stacey Dales, and Lars Hansen. Canada Basketball launched the Steve Nash Youth Basketball Program in September, 2007. Basketball is the fastest growing sport in Canada, and attracts many young Canadians from all backgrounds. [1]
On January 1, 2009, Canada Basketball announced the contract extensions of Leo Rautins and Allison McNeill. Also announced was the creation of The Council Of Excellence, which is designed to strengthen the game of basketball in Canada as to propel Canadian Basketball back to international prominence. The Council Of Excellence includes, Jay Triano, Steve Nash, Maurizio Gherardini, Glen Grunwald, Don McCrae, Kathy Shields, Ken Shields, Steve Konchalski, and Sylvia Sweeney. [2]

Canada (
/ˈkænədə/) is a North American country consisting of ten provinces and three territories. Head Coach Handel Kipp takes us on a journey behind 5 of the top girls within the program. They all have serious interest from top colleges and universities throughout North America and will garner even more accolades once the upcoming AAU season gets underway.

The 2014 USA Basketball Men's U18 National Team (5-0) remained perfect with a convincing 113-79 victory over Canada (4-1) to claim the 2014 FIBA Americas Championship gold medal on Tuesday night at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The USA upped its record at the zone championship to 48-2 and has now medaled in every U18 competition, having won seven gold medals (1990, 1994, 1998, 2006, 2010, 2012 and 2014), while capturing silver in 2008 and bronze in 2002.
The three USA team captains, Stanley Johnson (Mater Dei H.S./Fullerton, Calif.), who was named MVP of the tournament, Tyus Jones (Apple Valley H.S./Apple Valley, Minn.) and Justise Winslow (St. John's School/Houston, Texas), all of whom had previously won two gold medals on USA Basketball teams, combined for 47 points, 17 rebounds, nine assists and six steals.
