Three EPs on I'm a Cliché from 2012 and a bunch of EPs, tracks, remixes and edits on international imprints such as Correspondant, Relish, Days of Being Wild, Throne of Blood, Kill the DJ and more, made Red Axes gain respect throughout all the cold-ravers community.
"Kicks Out of You EP" is their fourth EP with the Paris-based boutique I'm a Cliché. It is their last DJ-friendly record (both vinyl and digital) before the awaited release of their first LP entitled "Ballad of the Ice". Three original tracks are included. They feature: a tune in Spanish in "Candela Viva"; some spoken word in "Kicks out of You" (courtesy of their Brazilian punk friend Abrão, the same who featured in their hit "Caminho de Dreyfus"); and finally some unexpected samba beats in beautiful "Too Late to Samba".
The reason why these two young guys born and raised in Israel should be that attracted to Latin America is like the reason why they should be so interested in German and French coldwave and other underground genres from the seventies and eighties: it shall remain a mystery. Red Axes are space and time travellers. However, what they send us from their trips is far from the typical postcard or the beach selfie. On the dancefloor, their sound plays with our craving for darkness, our sense of fun and our blue feelings; it frustrates and obsesses us. And thanks to their incredible technique, their passion for the past and the remote translates into something that belongs to right here and right now.

There's no denying that a new wave of Israeli electronics is rushing into international DJ crates, with Tel-Aviv's RED AXES riding its cusp. Samba
Samba (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈsɐ̃bɐ]) is a Brazilian musical genre and dance style originating in Brazil, with its roots in Africa via the West African slave trade and African religious traditions, particularly Angola and the Congo. Although there were various forms of samba in Brazil in the form of various popular rhythms and regional dances that originated from the drumming, samba as music genre is seen as a musical expression of urban Rio de Janeiro, then the capital of Imperial Brazil.
It is recognized around the world as a symbol of Brazil and the Brazilian Carnival. Considered one of the most popular Brazilian cultural expressions, samba has become an icon of Brazilian national identity. The Bahian Samba de Roda (dance circle), which became a UNESCO Heritage of Humanity in 2005, is the main root of the samba carioca, the samba that is played and danced in Rio de Janeiro.
The modern samba that emerged at the beginning of the 20th century is predominantly in a 2/4 tempo varied with the conscious use of a sung chorus to a batucada rhythm, with various stanzas of declaratory verses. Traditionally, the samba is played by strings (cavaquinho and various types of guitar) and various percussion instruments such as tamborim. Influenced by American orchestras in vogue since the Second World War and the cultural impact of US music post-war, samba began to use trombones, trumpets, choros, flutes, and clarinets.

Disco
Disco is a genre of dance music containing elements of funk, soul, pop, and salsa that was most popular in the mid to late 1970s, though it has had brief resurgences. Its initial audiences were club-goers from the gay, African American, Italian American,Latino, and psychedelic communities in Philadelphia and then later New York City during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Disco also was a reaction against both the domination of rock music and the stigmatization of dance music by the counterculture during this period. Women embraced disco as well, and the music eventually expanded to several other marginalized communities of the time.
The disco sound has soaring vocals over a steady "four-on-the-floor" beat, an eighth note (quaver) or 16th note (semi-quaver) hi-hat pattern with an open hi-hat on the off-beat, and a prominent, syncopated electric bass line. In most disco tracks, strings, horns, electric pianos, and electric guitars create a lush background sound. Orchestral instruments such as the flute are often used for solo melodies, and lead guitar is less frequently used in disco than in rock. Many disco songs use electronic synthesizers.

"Kicks Out of You EP" is their fourth EP with the Paris-based boutique I'm a Cliché. It is their last DJ-friendly record (both vinyl and digital) before the awaited release of their first LP entitled "Ballad of the Ice". Three original tracks are included. They feature: a tune in Spanish in "Candela Viva"; some spoken word in "Kicks out of You" (courtesy of their Brazilian punk friend Abrão, the same who featured in their hit "Caminho de Dreyfus"); and finally some unexpected samba beats in beautiful "Too Late to Samba".
The reason why these two young guys born and raised in Israel should be that attracted to Latin America is like the reason why they should be so interested in German and French coldwave and other underground genres from the seventies and eighties: it shall remain a mystery. Red Axes are space and time travellers. However, what they send us from their trips is far from the typical postcard or the beach selfie. On the dancefloor, their sound plays with our craving for darkness, our sense of fun and our blue feelings; it frustrates and obsesses us. And thanks to their incredible technique, their passion for the past and the remote translates into something that belongs to right here and right now.

Three EPs on I'm a Cliché from 2012 and a bunch of EPs, tracks, remixes and edits on international imprints such as Correspondant, Relish, Days of Being Wild, Throne of Blood, Kill the DJ and more, made Red Axes gain respect throughout all the cold-ravers community.
"Kicks Out of You EP" is their fourth EP with the Paris-based boutique I'm a Cliché. It is their last DJ-friendly record (both vinyl and digital) before the awaited release of their first LP entitled "Ballad of the Ice". Three original tracks are included. They feature: a tune in Spanish in "Candela Viva"; some spoken word in "Kicks out of You" (courtesy of their Brazilian punk friend Abrão, the same who featured in their hit "Caminho de Dreyfus"); and finally some unexpected samba beats in beautiful "Too Late to Samba".
The reason why these two young guys born and raised in Israel should be that attracted to Latin America is like the reason why they should be so interested in German and French coldwave and other underground genres from the seventies and eighties: it shall remain a mystery. Red Axes are space and time travellers. However, what they send us from their trips is far from the typical postcard or the beach selfie. On the dancefloor, their sound plays with our craving for darkness, our sense of fun and our blue feelings; it frustrates and obsesses us. And thanks to their incredible technique, their passion for the past and the remote translates into something that belongs to right here and right now.

Producers Dori Sadovnik and Nirv Arzi have already turned heads with their unique style, and now it's up to CORRESPONDANT's to host the duo's psychedelically flavored house antics. Having performed together for over 6 years, Dori and Nirv amassed a considerable amount of experience handling distinctive sound aesthetics that range from post punk to underground electronics. After releasing a string of mutant house jams for well-established label outfits like I'm A Cliché or Clouded Vision, their latest masterpiece CAMINHO DE DREYFUS packs quite some heat, with a weatherbeaten bassline supporting a hand-picked cast of kinky cowbells, raspy guitar hooks and ABRAO's eccentric vocals.

Correspondant return with their fourth annual label compilation. In this, the year of their fifth anniversary, they invite you on a night drive which takes you deeper in to the darkness. Label owner Jennifer Cardini has assembled a cavalcade of Correspondant’s core family (Man Power, Red Axes, Javi Redondo), closest collaborators (Axel Boman, Borusiade), and newest friends (Chida, Yovav, Dollkraut, Kiwi, Jonathan Kusuma, Autarkic) to show the world that Correspondant has a synthetic heart of punk which pumps glacial disco through its frozen veins.
The compilation represents the beginning of celebrations for the labels 5th Birthday, in a summer that will see Correspondant hit the road, visiting some of their favourite clubs and presenting showcases from their closest artists.
It's been a crazy 5 years for the label. Steered by Jennifer Cardini, Correspondant has never taken the easy or cheap route, yet it's dedication to the skewed, dark and difficult end of the dance spectrum has paid of with an every growing legion of supporters joining the label from both sides of the turntables.
Jennifer and the whole Correspondant family would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone and anyone who has ever shown the label love and support, and we look forward to dancing together for the next 5 years.

For our milestone 50th release we felt we needed to do something special, so with that in mind we present the return of Red Axes to Correspondant. Way back in 2013 we were a new label, and they were a new face on the scene. Their hit record ‘
Camino de Dreyfus’ helped propel both the label and the artist in to the established figures that both are today. ‘Avalon’ combines everything that’s good about the Axes, with their signature New Wave sound taking in the tropics, but skewed through a middle eastern kaleidoscope. ‘Sequência Astronomical’ is familiar territory to many Red Axes releases, but takes everything either deeper, darker, or weirder than they’ve previously ventured, showing the huge growth in their confidence in the intervening 3 years since their last Correspondant EP. To round off the package Correspondant
also presents an as yet unavailable instrumental version of ‘Camino De Dreyfus'.

For our milestone 50th release we felt we needed to do something special, so with that in mind we present the return of Red Axes to Correspondant. Way back in 2013 we were a new label, and they were a new face on the scene. Their hit record ‘
Camino de Dreyfus’ helped propel both the label and the artist in to the established figures that both are today. ‘Avalon’ combines everything that’s good about the Axes, with their signature New Wave sound taking in the tropics, but skewed through a middle eastern kaleidoscope. ‘Sequência Astronomical’ is familiar territory to many Red Axes releases, but takes everything either deeper, darker, or weirder than they’ve previously ventured, showing the huge growth in their confidence in the intervening 3 years since their last Correspondant EP. To round off the package Correspondant
also presents an as yet unavailable instrumental version of ‘Camino De Dreyfus'.

Edil Pacheco - Compositor e violonista baiano, nascido em Maragogipe, começou a ter contato com a música na adolescência. Foi para Salvador aos 19 anos para trabalhar e estudar e acabou admitido num banco e numa empresa de transportes, antes de ser chamado pelo sambista Batatinha para acompanhar o show "Eu Sou, Tu És, Ele É: Gente" em 1967. Em 1994, a Warner Music principal gravadora dos artistas da Axé Music (nos anos 80 e início dos anos 90) lançou uma coletânea com os grandes clássicos do Axé em Pout-Pourri. Este LP/CD foi um grande sucesso nas boates e festas em todo o Brasil e foi através deste disco que me encantei pela Axé Music!!! Ainda hoje me lembro quando ia aos 14 anos de idade na boate acompanhado por amigos baianos e ouvia este disco na Boate Bus Club aqui de Santa Maria!!! Eles tbm ouviam este CD no som do carro naquele vol alto-astral e pra mim este disco é inesquecível!!!

Now we see those disco and house inspirations come to the fore as the Essex Rascal presents his house nom de plume, Ron Bacardi. Following output for Bass Culture and Karlovak in 2015, Ben Sims’ housier, disco infused Ron Bacardi alias continues to gather pace as he prepares to unleash ’Need Somebody’ on his own Hardgroove imprint but before that he drops this fluid and frenetic mix to give us a double shot of the Ron Bacardi house experience. Featuring Doc Daneeka feat Seven Davis Jr, The Black Madonna, Mr. Tophat + Art Alfie, Loletta Holloway, War, Africans With Mainframes, EMG, Donna Summer, DJ Qu, Nightmoves, Mr. G and of course a few splashes of Bacardi (shaken and stirred) it’s house music, Jim but not as we know it.
Ben Sims is perhaps one of the most pre-eminent figures techno has to offer. A main attraction for underground cognoscenti since storming out onto the scene over 20 years ago, he has honed his reputation as a tight, energetic mixer who skillfully weaves together his own distinctive blend of tough funk and hardgrooves, often using three-deck wizardry and plenty of dexterity. Through an always-in-the-bag output, spearheading his in-demand ‘Run It Red’ radio show and heading up labels such as the now-defunct Theory, the long running Hardgroove and recently launching Machine, the Londoner has been hanging tough like it’s nobody’s business. He first performed at Claydrum in 2014 but this time he will be headlining the house room with his pseudonym Ron Bacardi delivering a set of blistering, raw house and disco edits.
Sims has put his name to more than 50 releases in the last two decades. During those years, there has also been a steady stream of high profile remixes of scene heavyweights, including Jeff Mills, Adam Beyer, Kevin Saunderson and Chris Liebing, on labels du jour like AXIS, KMS, CLR and Drumcode, all of which have won as much critical praise as they have crossover success.
Despite his veteran status in the scene, Sims has always been keen to evolve. Alongside Kirk Degiorgio, he is co-founder & curator of Machine - a clubnight which focuses on new, unreleased, & upfront music; it's primary home in London but with editions all across Europe each year. Edil Pacheco - Compositor e violonista baiano, nascido em Maragogipe, começou a ter contato com a música na adolescência. Foi para Salvador aos 19 anos para trabalhar e estudar e acabou admitido num banco e numa empresa de transportes, antes de ser chamado pelo sambista Batatinha para acompanhar o show "Eu Sou, Tu És, Ele É: Gente" em 1967. Por essa época começou a desenvolver a atividade de compositor, incrementada a partir do ano seguinte com sua participação no grupo Função. Sua primeira composição gravada foi a toada "Fim de Tarde" (com Luiz Galvão), em 1969, por Eliana Pitman. Foi para o Rio de Janeiro no início da década de 70, escorado no sucesso que sua música "Alô Madrugada" (com Ederaldo Gentil) fez na voz de Jair Rodrigues. Outras músicas conhecidas foram "Siriê", gravada por Fafá de Belém (1975), "Ijexá, Filhos de Gandhi", por Clara Nunes, e "Dengo", por Luiz Caldas.
Paulo César Francisco Pinheiro (Rio de Janeiro, 28 de abril de 1949) é compositor e poeta . Já no final da década de 1960, começou a destacar-se como letrista estabelecendo parcerias com Baden Powell, principalmente na voz de Elis Regina.Outras intérpretes marcantes foram Elizeth Cardoso, Simone e Clara Nunes, com quem foi casado. Paulo César Pinheiro apresenta em suas composições uma grande variedade de parceiros, como João de Aquino, Francis Hime, Dori Caymmi, Ivan Lins, Edu Lobo, Mauro Duarte, João Nogueira e Guinga.Em 2002, foi premiado, juntamente com Dori Caymmi, com um Grammy Latino na categoria de "Melhor Canção Brasileira".
Afoxé, também chamado de Candomblé de rua, é um cortejo de rua que sai durante o carnaval. Trata-se de uma manifestação afro-brasileira com raízes no povo iorubá, em que seus integrantes são vinculados a um terreiro de candomblé. O termo afoxé provém da língua iorubá. É composto por três termos: a, prefixo nominal; fo, significa dizer, pronunciar; xé, significa realizar-se. Segundo Antonio Risério, afoxé quer dizer o enunciado que faz acontecer.

Este LP/CD foi um grande sucesso nas boates e festas em todo o Brasil e foi através deste disco que me encantei pela Axé Music!!!
Ainda hoje me lembro quando ia aos 14 anos de idade na boate acompanhado por amigos baianos e ouvia este disco na Boate Bus Club aqui de Santa Maria!!!
Eles tbm ouviam este CD no som do carro naquele vol alto-astral e pra mim este disco é inesquecível!!!
