Dr. Christopher Alexander "Chris" Warner is a fictional character on the New Zealand soap opera Shortland Street who has been portrayed by Michael Galvin since the show's first episode, making him the longest running original character.
Chris made his first appearance in the show's first episode and immediately became known to viewers as a playboy and womanizer, after indulging in an affair with a married aerobics instructor. The character then went on to marry 4 times and father 6 children, whilst participating in over 20 romance storylines. Chris departed in 1996 but returned 4 years later and by 2009 was the shows longest standing character. Besides storylines that involve romance, Chris has also been the centre of several highly rated dramas such as his near death at the hands of brother-in-law Dominic (Shane Cortese) and the return of his drug addict brother Guy (Craig Parker).
Chris has been a relatively successful character with many reviewers and critics praising Galvin and landing him with a nomination for "Best Actor" at the Qantas Awards in 2008.
