Jonas Malheiro Savimbi (Munhango, Moxico, 3 de Agosto de 1934 — Lucusse, Moxico, 22 de Fevereiro de 2002) foi um guerrilheiro angolano e líder da UNITA durante mais de trinta anos.
Tendo, em conjunturas diversas, tido o apoio dos governos dos Estados Unidos da América, da República Popular da China , do regime do Apartheid da África do Sul, de Israel , de vários líderes Africanos (Félix Houphouët-Boigny da Costa do Marfim, Mobutu Sese Seko do Zaire , do rei Hassan II de Marrocos e Kenneth Kaunda da Zâmbia) e mercenários de Portugal, Israel, África do Sul e França , Savimbi passou grande parte de sua vida a lutar primeiro contra a ocupação colonial portuguesa e, depois da independência de Angola lutou contra o MPLA na guerra Civil Angolana.

On my channel there is a beautiful and so very true saying:
"No love, no friendship can cross the path of our destiny without leaving some mark on it forever" (Francois Mauriac)
They say very often that what is broken is hardly to repair, you would always see the scars. I know from my own experience that in many cases it is really true.
Fortunately there are always exceptions that prove the opposite and I have experience that also.
This year there is a friendship renewed and it is even more profound and beautiful as it was before.
We both have learned our life lessons on a hard way and both we are stronger now and enjoy still how beautiful life is.
Thank you dear Andrea that we have found us back again.
And may your wings grow constantly :-)

Para o ex-político (reformado e a viver na cidade do Lobito, sua terra natal), até hoje a UNITA posiciona-se numa lógica doutrinário-filosófica "anti-paz, contra a estabilidade do país e de convivência pacifica entre os angolanos".
"Não fosse a magnanimidade do Presidente da República, José Eduardo dos Santos, em 2002, milhares de dirigentes militares e civis da UNITA não teriam sobrevivido, no epílogo do conflito armado", lembrou a propósito, frisando "a necessidade de assinalar-se isso e, em voz alta, porque foi graças a esta tomada de posição do Chefe de Estado, que muitos destes estão vivos".
Por isso, afirmou, "apelo à todos compatriotas que repudiem, com determinação, as provocações, calúnias e abusos contra o Presidente da República, José Eduardo dos Santos, defendendo assim a Unidade Nacional e a coesão das populações de todas as regiões de Angola".
Recordou ainda que este pensamento agressivo da UNITA remonta a várias décadas e, como resultado, só trouxe luto, discórdia e miséria de milhares de angolanos.

UNITA
The National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) (Portuguese: União Nacional para a Independência Total de Angola) is the second-largest political party in Angola. Founded in 1966, UNITA fought alongside the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) in the Angolan War for Independence (1961–1975) and then against the MPLA in the ensuing civil war (1975–2002). The war was one of the most prominent Cold War proxy wars, with UNITA receiving military aid from the United States and South Africa while the MPLA received support from the Soviet Union and its allies.
UNITA was led by Jonas Savimbi from its foundation until his death in 2002. His successor as president of UNITA is Isaías Samakuva. Following Savimbi's death, UNITA abandoned armed struggle and participated in electoral politics. The party won 16 out of 220 seats in the 2008 parliamentary election.
Founding
Jonas Savimbi and Antonio da Costa Fernandes founded UNITA on March 13, 1966 in Muangai in Moxico province in Portuguese Angola (during the Estado Novo regime). 200 other delegates were present in the event. UNITA launched its first attack on Portuguese colonial authorities on December 25 that same year.
