I review the Driveway Motion Sensor from Harbor Freight. It's a great budget minded way to help secure your property. After trimming bushes to increase visability around your home, installing outside lighting, securing yard items, and erecting a fence, these motion sensors seems to be the next most logical choice. Later, surveillance cameras and alarm systems can be considered. But for the budget minded home owner, these motion sensors just make good common sense. Good luck!

Motion detection is the process of detecting a change in the position of an object relative to its surroundings or a change in the surroundings relative to an object. Sensor
In the broadest definition, a sensor is an object whose purpose is to detect events or changes in its environment, and then provide a corresponding output. A sensor is a type of transducer; sensors may provide various types of output, but typically use electrical or optical signals. For example, a thermocouple generates a known voltage (the output) in response to its temperature (the environment). A mercury-in-glass thermometer, similarly, converts measured temperature into expansion and contraction of a liquid, which can be read on a calibrated glass tube.
Sensors are used in everyday objects such as touch-sensitive elevator buttons (tactile sensor) and lamps which dim or brighten by touching the base, besides innumerable applications of which most people are never aware. With advances in micro machinery and easy-to-use micro controller platforms, the uses of sensors have expanded beyond the most traditional fields of temperature, pressure or flow measurement, for example into MARG sensors. Moreover, analog sensors such as potentiometers and force-sensing resistors are still widely used. Applications include manufacturing and machinery, airplanes and aerospace, cars, medicine, and robotics.it is also included in our day-to-day life.

New! https://ralphbacon.blog Two µwave movement sensors go head-to-head, the HB100 and the XYC-WB-DC. Both operate using µwaves but give very different results. Microwaves can see through doors and walls but is this what you need in a movement detector? And are they better than the ubiquitous PIR sensor? We'll see in the video. The good thing is that at least one of these devices costs (a lot) less than a cup of barista-made coffee so it's worth just experimenting so see how it might fit in your next project. In this video we show you how to build a DIY motion tracking airsoft (or nerf gun) turret with a raspberry pi 3. The airsoft turret is autonomous so it moves and fires the gun when it detects motion. There is also an interactive mode so that you can control it manually from your keyboard. We used an airsoft gun for this project, but you can easily change modify this build to use a Nerf instead. This project is small, lightweight and entirely battery operated.
We created two separate operation modes: Interactive and Motion Detection. Interactive allows you to control the turret remotely and stream live video. Motion Detection uses openCV and computer vision to track moving targets in front of the camera.
Since this device fires projectiles, please use the necessary safety precautions while operating the turret. :)

If you don't have a 3d printer, you should be able to print the parts on a local community printer or with an online service like Shapeways.
