Yesterday I decided to mess about with duel wielding and remembered that i picked up these two beauties during my play through and wondered if with enough strength if it was possible to go into a power stance and do duel wielding moves and to my surprise with at least 49 strength you indeed can. Note that before i started recording i spent two hours farming twink titinites to get both of the shields to +5 with that said the first fight you see is actually my very first pvp session with these shields so I'm not exactly experienced. But I do want to take a bit to talk about them and I have some ups and downs that id like to share here about them. First of all you cant shove because this weapons R1 is to block with the right hand shield so guard breaking via up+R1 is impossible. Backstabbing is also impossible but who gives a shit about backstabbing, am I right? Another thing that kinda bothers me is it's erratic damage, sometimes you do 200, sometimes you do over 600 and in one case I did over 800 (822 to be exact just look at the second fight in this video) It may have to do with the new "weapon sweet spot" mechanic but honestly how the hell can there even be a sweet spot for this pair? Your either crushed or your not. The weapons reach is also poor which is to be expected from two shields. Your shield doesn't block after a bash like it did in dark souls 1 instead your enemy's attack just goes right through even with the duel wielding attacks (as you can see in one of the fights where i was just lightning speared twice in a row) Another pretty big issue especially with this being a "shield" is its elem defenses. Lightning and flame res are in their 60's (at +5) which isn't all that great and your magic def is at 30% which is terrible, this is also why I used the spell quarts ring and the bur's for a bit of a def boost but alot of the time it's hard to tell what bur to use since you can't tell what elem your opponent may cast, though it's easy enough to tell when they use a weapon buff. With that said if you wanna give this a go and your randomly a magic user with 49+str id strongly recommend "strong magic shield" on your right shield or a buff could work too. *Update: you can't buff the fucker :( I'm happy that they have a pair of shields that can actually do this in game but I wish the power stance L1 and L2's did different things, both attacks are the exact same except the L2 attack might cover a bit more area around you? (needs testing) and it uses more stamina than the L1's but it doesn't do any more damage than the L1's whatsoever I think they should have had the L1 to press the shields together like the npc's do for bonus defense (doesn't have to be anything crazy just a 20% buff to all elm/aux defenses and stability or something like that) while L2 would stay as being a heavy pincher. In conclusion this is a very high risk high reward duo weaponry to mess about with, high risk being it only has one real duel wielding attack that hurts like a bitch but you will suffer if you miss or if your timing is off. Once your opponent understands how your weapons work (with one move he won't take long to figure it out) You will more than likely fall back on your up+R2 attack which is easily your fastest, most range and unpredictable move in your arsenal. I strongly recommend that you give it a whirl... Well if you have the strength to whirl it that is.
