Can't believe I'm saying this, but Carlton v Essendon might not be the worst game of the year after all #AFLBluesPies

Sumner's centring ball is a beauty and finds Gibbs.
From 15m out on a sharp angle, Gibbs converts the set shot to become Carlton's first multiple goalscorer.

Simpson's neat pass finds Andrew Phillips.
From 45m out on a slight angle, the former Giant splits the big sticks.
And Carlton finally get a goal after an hour of play!

Bally: "Simpson took the game on. That's what they need to do." #AFLBluesPies
Q4 20 MIN, CARL 33 COLL 56
A chain of possessions involving Everitt, Walker and Silvagni ends up with Gibbs.
But from 40m out on a slight angle, Gibbs misses to the right.
Perhaps Silvagni shouldn't have been so unselfish! He marked the ball 15m out from goal, but rather than have a shot he passed it backwards to Gibbs. Fair to say the Carlton faithful were not happy about that!

De Goey rides the tackle with strength and dishes it off to Blair who floats it through for his second goal.
That makes it almost impossible for Carlton now.
Jarryd Blair nails this one. #ohwhatafeeling #AFLBluesPies https://t.co/8BOwJJfcH4

Dale Thomas is now leaving the ground with blood coming from his ear as a result of that collision with Aish.
Q4 10 MIN, CARL 32 COLL 50
Dale Thomas might come under scrutiny from the match review panel for making contact with Aish's head.

Byrne is clutching his right knee and worryingly he has a look of resignation on his face. He looks distraught, the poor guy. Hopefully it's not as serious as he seems to think it is. The stretcher is now coming out.
.@carltonfc's Ciaran Byrne has been stretchered off. #AFLBluesPies https://t.co/H8IhmO6Fqt
