Kapalıçarşı'da yaklaşık 4.000 dükkan bulunmaktadır ve bu dükkanlarda toplam çalışan sayısı yaklaşık 25.000'dir. Gün içerisindeki en yoğun zamanlarında içinde yarım milyona yakın insan barındırdığı söylenir.[1] Yılda 91 milyon turisti ağırlayan çarşı, dünyanın en fazla ziyaret edilen turistik mekanıdır
Der Kapalı Çarşı (osmanisch قپالی چارشو, „überdachter Markt“), im Deutschen „Großer Basar“ oder „Großer gedeckter Basar“ genannt, ist ein Geschäftsviertel im alten Istanbuler Stadtteil Eminönü im Stadtviertel Beyazıt.
Der Große Basar erstreckt sich über 31.000 m² und beherbergt rund 4000 Geschäfte mit den verschiedensten Angeboten. Angelegt wurde er im 15. Jahrhundert unter Sultan Mehmet Fatih nach der Eroberung Konstantinopels. Zentrum ist der Eski Bedesten (übersetzt: alte Tuchhalle) – ursprünglich als Schatzkammer geplant – unter dessen Kuppeln sich heute noch die Geschäfte der Gold- und Silberhändler befinden. Der Eski Bedesten war früher fest verschlossen und beherbergte die besonders teuren Waren. Später übernahm die Halle sogar die Funktion einer Bank – reiche Privatleute nutzten ihn als Tresor für ihr Privatvermögen. Süleyman der Prächtige ließ später den Yeni Bedesten (übersetzt: Neue Tuchhalle) errichten, der heute Sandal Bedesten genannt wird. Der gesamte Basar war ursprünglich aus Holz gebaut. Nach mehreren schweren Bränden ließ Sultan Mustafa III. die Gebäude teilweise aus Stein wiederaufbauen.
Wie bei Basaren üblich, sind die Geschäfte im Großen Basar nach Branchen sortiert, was häufig auch an den Straßennamen zu erkennen ist (z. B. bei der Halıcı Sokağı, der Teppichhändlerstraße und bei der Sahaflar caddesi, der Antiquitätenhändlerstraße). Außerhalb der Geschäftszeiten sind nicht nur die Läden, sondern auch die zahlreichen Eingänge zu den überdachten Gassen verschlossen.

The beautiful Margaret Island is 2.5 km long and 500 metres wide in the middle of the Danube in Budapest, Hungary. It is now mainly landscape parks but medieval ruins remain from its history as a religious centre. It was named Margaret Island after Saint Margaret the 13th century daughter of Béla IV of Hungary who lived in the Dominican convent on the island.
The Knights of St John settled on the island in the 12th century. Among the buildings remaining today can be seen the Premonstratensian church, and the remains of the Dominican convent and Franciscan church. The thermal water on Margaret Island is famous for its healing properties.

the Marmara Region (Turkish: Marmara Bölgesi), with a surface area of 67.000 km², is the smallest but most densely populated of the seven geographical regions of Turkey. It represents approximately 8.6% of the Turkish national territory and about 30% of its population.
This region was officially put in existence after the Geography Congress of 1941 in Ankara and is geographically divided into four regional parts.
Its name derives from the Sea of Marmara, which itself is named for the island of Marmara.

The Romanian name, Porţile de Fier, literally mean "Iron Gates" and are indeed used to name the entire range of gorges. An alternative Romanian name for the last part of the route is Clisura Dunării, "Danube Gorge". In Serbia the gorge is known as Đerdap, with the last part named Đerdapska klisura. The Romania side of the gorge constitutes the Iron Gate natural park, on the other bank, in Serbia, is located the Đerdap national park.

Ada Kaleh
Ada Kaleh (Romanian pronunciation: [ˈada kaˈle] from Turkish: Adakale meaning "Island Fortress", Hungarian: Újorsova or Ada Kaleh, Serbian and Bulgarian: Адакале / Adakale) was a small island on the Danube populated mostly by Turks that was submerged during the construction of the Iron Gates hydroelectric plant in 1970. The island was about 3 km downstream from Orşova and measured 1.75 by 0.4–0.5 km.
The isle of Ada Kaleh is probably the most evocative victim of the Iron Gate dam's construction. Once an Ottoman Turkish exclave, it had a mosque and numerous twisting alleys, and was known as a free port and a smuggler's nest.
History
The Austrians built a Vauban-type fort there to defend it from the Ottoman Empire, and that fort would remain a bone of contention for the two empires. In 1699 the island came under Turkish control; but in 1716 it was recaptured by the Austrians, and the Fortress of New Orșova was built by Nicolaus Doxat de Démoret, an Austrian colonel of Swiss origin. After a four-month siege in 1738 it became Turkish again, followed by the Austrians re-conquering it in 1789, but they had to return the island to the Turks with the Treaty of Sistova on August 4, 1791, which ended the 1787–91 war between the Ottoman Empire and the Habsburg Monarchy (and, by extension, the Ottoman–Habsburg wars). Thereafter, the island lost its military importance.

Der Kapalı Çarşı (osmanisch قپالی چارشو, „überdachter Markt“), im Deutschen „Großer Basar“ oder „Großer gedeckter Basar“ genannt, ist ein Geschäftsviertel im alten Istanbuler Stadtteil Eminönü im Stadtviertel Beyazıt.
Der Große Basar erstreckt sich über 31.000 m² und beherbergt rund 4000 Geschäfte mit den verschiedensten Angeboten. Angelegt wurde er im 15. Jahrhundert unter Sultan Mehmet Fatih nach der Eroberung Konstantinopels. Zentrum ist der Eski Bedesten (übersetzt: alte Tuchhalle) – ursprünglich als Schatzkammer geplant – unter dessen Kuppeln sich heute noch die Geschäfte der Gold- und Silberhändler befinden. Der Eski Bedesten war früher fest verschlossen und beherbergte die besonders teuren Waren. Später übernahm die Halle sogar die Funktion einer Bank – reiche Privatleute nutzten ihn als Tresor für ihr Privatvermögen. Süleyman der Prächtige ließ später den Yeni Bedesten (übersetzt: Neue Tuchhalle) errichten, der heute Sandal Bedesten genannt wird. Der gesamte Basar war ursprünglich aus Holz gebaut. Nach mehreren schweren Bränden ließ Sultan Mustafa III. die Gebäude teilweise aus Stein wiederaufbauen.
Wie bei Basaren üblich, sind die Geschäfte im Großen Basar nach Branchen sortiert, was häufig auch an den Straßennamen zu erkennen ist (z. B. bei der Halıcı Sokağı, der Teppichhändlerstraße und bei der Sahaflar caddesi, der Antiquitätenhändlerstraße). Außerhalb der Geschäftszeiten sind nicht nur die Läden, sondern auch die zahlreichen Eingänge zu den überdachten Gassen verschlossen.

It was named Margaret Island after Saint Margaret the 13th century daughter of Béla IV of Hungary who lived in the Dominican convent on the island.
The Knights of St John settled on the island in the 12th century. Among the buildings remaining today can be seen the Premonstratensian church, and the remains of the Dominican convent and Franciscan church. The thermal water on Margaret Island is famous for its healing properties.

The Romanian name, Porţile de Fier, literally mean "Iron Gates" and are indeed used to name the entire range of gorges. An alternative Romanian name for the last part of the route is Clisura Dunării, "Danube Gorge". In Serbia the gorge is known as Đerdap, with the last part named Đerdapska klisura. The Romania side of the gorge constitutes the Iron Gate natural park, on the other bank, in Serbia, is located the Đerdap national park.

Greta Zimmer Friedman's son says his mother died Thursday at a hospital in Richmond, Virginia. She died from complications of old age, he said. Nasa has sent a spacecraft chasing after an unexplored asteroid, in the hope that it might one day keep us from being destroyed. The Osiris-Rex robotic hunter has blasted off to the asteroid Bennu. When it gets there it will scoop up bits of ancient space rock - which could eventually tell us not just about where we came from but whether there is life elsewhere as well ... It might also help them learn more about what to do if one is....

When I found out she was serious, I thought he was coming to give a speech at the college or something. After learning it was to do some stand-up comedy, I asked, “Where do I get tickets?” ...
