CCF escape plan trial is ending + Statement to the court by Olga Economidou, member of CCF / FAI-FRI (Greece)

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2016

At the hearing on Friday, June 17th, one of the last ‘apologies’ heard was the prisoner Fabio Dusko who is accused of involvement in the CCF escape attempt. Fabio refused to answer questions from the judges and declared in a statement: “I am proud to cooperate with the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire and would do it again to regain freedom. Escaping from prison is the duty of every prisoner”.

The trial was suspended until June 29th. It is important to note that under Greek legislation pre-trial detention has a maximum period of 18 months. After this the prisoner can then be released to await trial. In the case of the comrade Angeliki Spyropoulou and other defendants, the pre-trial detention term expires on July 13th. In light of this, judge A. Yfanti managed to conduct an “express trial” and has stated that the trial will be finished on July 10th with sentences for the the defendants, seeking to prevent their return to the street.

To fast track the trial – as mentioned in previous updates – the judge ‘read’ thousands of pages of judicial reports in record time, attempted to conduct the trial without the presence of lawyers, the defendants or the public and suspended other trials (including the trial of members of the fascist organization Golden Dawn) to ensure that the court room was always available for the CCF escape plan trial.

Statement to the court by Olga Economidou regarding the attempted prison escape by the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire

I did not come to this court room today to offer my apologies. I do not stand here and apologize to you because I do not regret anything. Even if I could turn back time a thousand times, I would still make the same decision. The desire for freedom cannot be put on trial or imprisoned. (more…)

June 6th and 7th hearings

The June 6th and 7th hearings were for the 250 attacks by the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire and the attempted escape of 2015. Witnesses for the defense were presented for some of the defendants.

For their part, the comrades Christos and Gerasimos Tsakalos, along with the comrades Giorgos Polydoros, Olga Economidou and Angeliki Spyropoulou attended the trial and refused to present witnesses for their defense as they have stated since day one that “for us the best ‘defense’ is the continuation of the action in the streets”.

Witnesses for the defense of the three relatives of the CCF comrades (Christos Polydoros, Evi Statiri and Athena Tsakalou) were also presented.

The statements of the witnesses focused on the criminalization of family relations and referred to cases that occurred during the dictatorship in Greece (1967-1974) in which rebels and insurgents were aided or given refuge to prevent being arrested by the Military Junta. (more…)

Arson of Hellenic Post vehicles in the suburb of Aghioi Anargyroi (Greece)

Thursday, June 9th, 2016

At a time when human zombies nourish their survival with social norms and superficial appearances driven by the legitimacy of Power, essentially legitimising the present miserable life, the conflict with the latter automatically marks an opening up of a field of dialectic to the feelings of the living. Boredom knocks on the door of all of us, and we try to transmute it into its denial. We are exactly there where the wait for a mass uprising has become trite, where the appetite for destruction of the rotten world is identical to our pleasure.

In the early hours of May 27th 2016, we burned two vehicles of the Hellenic Post (ELTA) in Aghioi Anargyroi.

With this action we send a minimum signal of strength to CCF, who is on trial for the escape plan and other cases, and to the rest of the anarchists implicated in these cases as well.

Let’s get more dangerous for Power.

Update from the fast-tracked trial of CCF – 02/06 (Greece)

Tuesday, June 7th, 2016

Today the presiding judge A. Yfanti gave new meaning to the concept of fast-tracking proceedings. Within 2.5 hours thousands of pages of evidence documents were ‘read’. In normal proceedings such documents would be read to the court word for word as they are supposedly part of the evidence for the hearing.

Following the command of the appeal court administration the Golden Dawn trial was suspended so presiding judge A. Yfanti could ‘finish’ the CCF trial, proving once again that the sentences were already ordered before the trial had even begun.

Today, 02/06 all of the witnesses were heard in record time and often with answers dictated from police headquarters. Then, despite a request for an interruption so that the CCF could acquaint themselves with the evidence, the judge continued the process unabated. (more…)

Update from 31.05.16 hearing of the CCF Escape Plan trial (Greece)

Saturday, June 4th, 2016

The hearing on 31/05 was based on the presentation of witnesses. Once again the presiding judge, A. Yfanti resorted to using dirty tricks with the aim of harming the defendants (the CCF comrades, their relatives and the prisoner Fabio Dusko). The judge urged the prosecution witnesses to reread their statements and try to “remember more things”, however the statements did not add anything of substance to the accusations.

The judge attempted to open up a debate about possible “collateral damage” from CCF bombings and used an attack against the taxation office as an example.

Responding to this, the comrade Christos Tsakalos – who was allowed back into the courtroom for the trial – spoke to the court despite attempts by the judge to silence him and stated that the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire always gave telephone warnings to avoid endangering the lives of people who were not the target of their attacks. Review of the event about CCF in “Biblioteca Kaos” on May 26 (Brazil)

Wednesday, June 1st, 2016

Dealing with the perpetual technical problems that the comrades who attend the library already know, we present the book “Our day will come” that we translated to Portuguese and we watched the movie made by CCF comrades “Phoenix Project. The Return of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire”.

We began the event with the reading of the words written by the comrades of “Sin Banderas, ni Frontera”, core of agitation and anti-authoritarian propaganda from Chile, of Kataklysma contra information blog, of Spyros Mandylos and of the CCF comrades. We know that these words arrived to us and teased us deeply; that listen to them was an important moment of the event. It would have been difficult not to feel us captivated by the strenght of the messages read and the firmness that they transmit. After the reading, we watched the video of the Phoenix Project, the words and voices of the comrades in the video made all of us feel closer of the comrades, and, at the same time in which we delighted with the accurate attacks against domination.

Breaking grades, frontiers and distance that separates us was one of our aim with the initiative of realizing this event. We believe that in this breaking, resides the solidarity, at the end, transforming distant in near, we bring seeds for the insurrect action in this territory, and we know that it doesn’t exist better solidarity act that the attack. Nevertheless, this event was one more impulse so that we have to keep sharpen ours knives pointing against Power… (more…)

CCF Escape Case: Report from the latest episode of Judge A.Yfanti’s kangaroo court (Greece)

Tuesday, May 31st, 2016

At the hearing on May 24th Judge A. Yfanti once again started the session without waiting for all the co-defendants to arrive. The comrades George Polydoros and Angeliki Spyropoulou entered the courtroom after the hearing had already begun.

A motion from the CCF comrades to remove the presiding judge was deliberated over by the same court who denied the motion and kept the same judge.

At the hearing, the comrade George Polydoros read a statement saying that the judge is unfit to direct the trial, recalling various incidents in which the judge had threatened and taunted the accused along with his insistence of conducting the trial without lawyers. The comrade also stated: “What to do with the representatives of the judiciary who have judged and imprisoned my brother, the mother of Christos and Gerasimos Tsakalos and the wife of the latter? We do not know, but the anarchist urban guerrillas will provide the response”. (more…)

Report on the 18.05.16 CCF trial hearing for the Jan 2015 escape attempt (Greece)

Thursday, May 26th, 2016

On Wednesday May 18, after being delayed by the lawyers strike, the trial resumed for the attempted escape by the comrades from the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire (the foiled escape plan of January 2015). Also accused are the comrade Angeliki Spyropoulou and family members of the comrades.

It is important to mention that the judge presiding over the court, A. Yfanti, has used his filthy power fully aligned with the vengeful state against the CCF comrades, trying for example to go ahead with the trial without lawyers, mocking the comrades and ignoring the requests of lawyers.

At the beginning of the hearing on Wednesday, a lawyer for one of the comrades of the CCF was absent. In these cases the court is obliged to appoint a new layer, but the president of the court ordered that he be tried without a lawyer present.

Immediately the CCF comrades Gerasimos Tsakalos, Olga Economidou and Christos Tsakalos who were present in the courtroom interrupted the hearing, shouting at and cursing at the judge for the fascist practices shown during the trial. The comrades began throwing objects after which the guards intervened while the president of the court ran to hide in an office.

One of the lawyers took to the floor and presented a request to stop the trial because of the actions of the judge.

The comrade Christos Tsakalos then referred to the risk their relatives face (his mother, the wife of Gerasimos and the brother of comrade Giorgos Polydoros), they are being accused of ‘belonging to a terrorist organization’ and with the aggravating provisions they could be punished with up to 20 years in prison.

The comrades of CCF and the comrade Angeliki Spyropoulou claimed responsibility for the escape plan, noting that none of the remaining defendants had any role in it. They then left the room stating it was a fact that the judge would ask for their expulsion, which actually did take place, the judge ordered that the 3 comrades G. Tsakalos, O. Econimidou and C. Tsakalos be expelled indefinitely from the courtroom. Lawyer appealed the decision but their claims were not considered.

The next session of the trial was set for Tuesday, May 24, the day on which the first 5 witnesses will be paraded, all of whom are police officers.

From our enemies we can expect nothing, and this is clearly vengeance by the state against anarchists and urban guerrillas who remain unrepentant for their ideas and actions.

Insurrectionary and internationalist solidarity with the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire, their accused relatives and comrade Angeliki Spyropoulou!

CCF Escape Case: ‘With no trace of remorse’ – Letter by imprisoned anarchist comrade Aggeliki Spyropoulou (Greece)

Sunday, April 3rd, 2016

WITH NO TRACE OF REMORSE

This experience is the starter of the development on both a political and a personal level. Imprisonment is an almost inevitable experience for anyone who has decided to join the armed struggle. But the question, as in every experience, is whether and how to take advantage of it.

The birth of the prison has always been built upon cultivation and perpetuation of validation of submission of those who do not conform to the predefined standards of society. However, there are some people whose desire for freedom burns their hearts in a way that does not allow them to accept the role imposed on them as part of the prison automation, even for a single moment during their imprisonment. When it comes to these people, prison fails miserably in its purpose, and despite the walls and bars that stand around them capturing their bodies, they themselves remain rebellious and actually free. Neither souls nor spirits fit in cages.

Let’s start at the very beginning. First of all, as anarchists that have declared war on all aspects of the modern civilized world, we know well that in order to become dangerous, it is necessary to use all kinds of means. Armed propaganda was, is and will remain an integral part of the diverse anarchist struggle. Theory is undoubtedly a very useful tool yet it validates its original meaning only when reflected in the respective action. It is essential to establish a clear dividing line between the enemy and us, since liberation from the system requires its practical rejection. Resistance cannot stop where the penal code begins. Judge continues the trial against CCF despite concerns raised by District Attorney & defense lawyers (Greece)

Sunday, April 3rd, 2016

Today on March 31st the court convened for the trial against members of the C.C.F. accused to have planned an escape from prison. Due to an ongoing lawyers’ strike, the defense attorneys asked for the trial to temporarily discontinue. The lawyers even proceeded to the submission of relevant documents from the Bar Association certifying the strike and the lawyers’ need to take part in it.

The District Attorney Koutras also suggested to temporarily discontinue the trial on account of the aforementioned strike and the lawyers’ abstention. The judicial board left the courtroom to have a meeting and come to a decision. When the board returned, Justice A. Yfanti, announced that the entire board minus one judge, rejected the lawyers’ request and decided to continue the trial proceedings. Moreover, they gave an ultimatum to the defense lawyers, saying that ”If you do not exercise your duties you will be removed”. (more…)

Porto Alegre: Arson attack against a Santander bank in solidarity with Monica, Francisco & CCF (Brazil)

Sunday, March 13th, 2016

On the night of March 9, we placed an incendiary device at the Santander bank branch on Ramiro Barcelos street. Our incentive to conspire and then carry out the attack was solidarity and complicity with anarchists behind bars who endure days and days of incarceration but still hold their heads high, proud of their ideas and convictions.

In response to the call for solidarity with the compas Monica Caballero and Francisco Solar we organized ourselves so that our desire to express solidarity became a fire to reach the companeros who are facing a trial in which they face 44 years in prison, accused of terrorism and particularly an attack on the Basilica of the Pillar in Barcelona.

There are many reasons and motives to attack Santander Bank. For example, besides being representatives of the Spanish state (who have kidnapped our companeros), in this territory they were the administrators of Augustus Pinochet’s money following the military dictatorship in Chile. In the end, these facts are only details that enhance our anger… Any banking institution that tries to hide their genocidal intentions with ‘cultural projects’ or other pseudo-humanist terms are representatives of a system that only inspires our disgust.

Branches of Santander Bank have been attacked twice in recent days in Santiago, Chile and in Buenos Aires. The two attacks were carried out in solidarity with Monica and Francisco. This silent, instinctive coordination of solidarity not only causes a great inconvenience to normal life at different points in the world, but also strengthens our ties, making it clear there are no borders and that we do not need leaders or vertical structures to attack several bars in the same cage.

With this solidarity action for Monica and Francisco, we also send greetings to the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire compas and their families who are also facing another trial against them. Their strength inspires us every day to walk looking for the fire to illuminate the darkness.

Down with the prison walls.

Incendiary solidarity with Monica and Francisco

For the proliferation of the groups of attacks. The beauty of solidarity is the complicity.

Long live anarchy!

CCF Escape Case: Evi Statiri and Athena Tsakalou are not allowed to attend their own trial (Greece)

Friday, March 4th, 2016

Regarding the trial for the escape plan from Korydallos prison against the members of the C.C.F. something truly incomprehensible is unfolding…

Two of the defendants, Athena Tsakalou and Evi Statiri cannot be present at court during the trial because of certain restrictions as part of their conditional release from pre-trial detention.

During the three times the court convened so far, the same thing happened: the judge calls their names to register their attendance and every time the exact same dialogue follows. The defence attorneys have to explain that both women are under conditional release and if restrictions are violated they will be re-arrested. These restrictions are in the form of house arrest for Athena Tsakalou who lives on Salamina island, while Evi Statiri is not allowed to cross the 1km radius from her residence. (more…)

CCF Escape Case: “The perpetual move towards freedom…” by Christos Tsakalos of the CCF / FAI-FRI (Greece)

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2016

“It’s like playing a game with marked cards… You know that the odds are against you, but you keep playing… What for… but in order to continue the game… And to find others in the future to win the game… This is our heritage… ”

On February 15 the trial for the escape plan of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire began. A total of 28 people are being tried, including our relatives and other people who have no connection to the case.

As Conspiracy of Cells of Fire we have taken on the responsibility for the plan and its practical/technical preparation (weapons, explosives, rockets, stolen vehicles) found in the hideouts of the organization.

But the answer to what led us to the decision to escape, the judges and cops won’t find it neither in the weapons nor in the explosives or the decrypted messages found.

Anyone can find the answer as long as he listens to the rattling of the chains worn on him, chains baptized as freedom. A “freedom” which exchanged our life with cables, devices and screens… a “freedom” wearing the mask of a happy slave… But there is nothing real behind the mask…

Life is being strangled by the blackmail of the financial tyranny, the underpaid sweat of labor dungeons, the batons, tear gas and bullets of repression…
Meanwhile, the skies are raining death with bombs that turn entire countries into mass graves, small children washed up dead on the shores of the Aegean and thousands of people deserted in concentration camps…

At the same time, the lie is turned to truth from the journalist’s propaganda, technology controls our moments and emotions, the spectacle flashily dresses our loneliness, and the Western man becomes victimizer and victim of his amnesia, as he forgot what it means to live free. This is the answer to not only why someone should escape from prison, but also to become a fugitive from the legal life of an obedient being…

These thoughts are the abettor of our getaway. If we could, we would dig the walls even with our own nails to escape and to dig up the arms for the cause of freedom and revolution. And no matter how many of those attempts fail, or how many heads break onto the prison bars, at the end the bars will bend.

Because the stocks cannot be counted neither with weapons nor with explosives but with the belief that this world must be demolished, to let freedom blossom.

Both the judges and cops know us to be stubborn… That’s why they chose to take our relatives as hostages. To blackmail us emotionally and wrest our silence. But there will never be a cease fire between us and power…

The judicial authorities in 10,000 pages of files, try to make their lie a more convincing lie and call 20 witnesses (half of them executives of the anti-terrorist service) to confirm this. They accuse my mother, Evi (wife of my brother) and Christos (brother of the comrade C. Polydoros) as members of “the terrorist organization CCF”.

Their conviction has already been ordered from the palaces of power. This is a sample of the arrogance of a power that believes it’s playing without an opponent.

This trial is a poll of the struggle… In short, we must violently interrupt the onslaught of an iron repression, which, since it can not make us kneel, aims at our people.

But the challenge is not only to subvert the judicial coup that blackmails us through the persecution of our relatives, but also to transfer the fear to the homes of the enemy. Where they think they are invulnerable. And if the tracks of repression marching are already reverberating… it’s time for our own weapons to be heard.

“One day we will have to gamble for everything”, against all our yesterdays of postponement, without hesitation to stand abreast our executioners… it’s us or them…

Absence deletes people.. but there are those who are missing in exile or confined in one kilometer of “Freedom” and are present in our hearts… People just like Athena, Evi and finally Christos, because today to remain human is by itself an act of courage..

Our day will come…

Christos Tsakalos – Member of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire / F.A.I.

Letter in solidarity with the struggle of hunger striker Fabio Dusco (Greece)

Thursday, February 25th, 2016

Since Monday the 15th of February prisoner Fabio Dusco began a hungerstrike against the special conditions of detention that have been imposed upon him by the police and the Ministry of Justice.

Specifically, Fabio, who faces charges for the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire plan to escape from prison, was initially taken to Korydallos prison. In the early morning hours of the following day, riot police made a sudden intrusion into his cell and took him to the Attica Removal Centre. After the first day of the trial he was incarcerated at the Attica General Police Directorate.

This demonstrates that special conditions of detention introduced with the emergence of Type C prisons not only have not been abolished, but still operate covertly.

At the same time, the judicial dictators continue with their monologue, since, apart from Fabio, who is detained in isolation and has already begun a hunger strike, Athena Tsakalou and Evi Statiri cannot attend the trial as a consequence of the fascist restrictive conditions of their release which are still not lifted. Athena is exiled on Salamina island and Evi is not allowed to move further than a 1 km radius away from her residence.
