The Revolution is the debut studio album by Canadian rapper, Belly which was released on June 5, 2007 in Canada on Capital Prophets Records Inc.. The album became a commercial success a month after its release, when it was certified gold by the CRIA for shipping over 50,000 copies. The lead single "Pressure" won Best MuchVibe video at the 2007 MuchMusic Video Awards and also peaked at #10 on the Canadian Singles Chart. Also the album won the Rap Recording of the Year at the 2008 Juno Awards. All videos for the singles received heavy rotation on Much Music. In April 2008 for the 2008 MuchMusic Video Awards, "Ridin'" was nominated for 4 MMVAs and won 1 of them for best rap video. "I'm the Man" was also nominated for 1 MMVA making Belly the only artist that year to be nominated in 5 categories.

The Revolution (band)

The Revolution was an American rock band formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1979 by Prince. Although widely associated with rock music, the band's sound incorporated rhythm and blues, funk, pop, and hard rock elements. Before their official break-up, The Revolution had released two studio albums, two soundtracks, and two videos. The band is known for its many members, varied in race and gender.

The Revolution rose to international fame in the mid-1980s with Purple Rain, selling over 16 million albums in the United States alone. The band achieved two number-one Billboard 200 albums (Purple Rain and Around the World in a Day), six top ten singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and won three Grammy Awards. The band officially disbanded in 1986 after the Hit n Run – Parade Tour, which supported Parade, the soundtrack for Under the Cherry Moon.

Early years

When Prince formed his backing band after the release of his first album, he followed in the footsteps of one of his idols, Sly Stone by creating a multi-racial, multi-gendered musical ensemble. The band initially consisted of:

All Together Now

"All Together Now" is a song by the Beatles written primarily by Paul McCartney and credited to Lennon–McCartney. The song was recorded during the band's Magical Mystery Tour period, but remained unreleased until it was included on the Yellow Submarine soundtrack. It was released as a single in 1972 in European countries such as France and Germany, backed by "Hey Bulldog".

McCartney described the song as a children's sing-along with the title phrase inspired by the music hall tradition of asking the audience to join in. He also described a "subcurrent" in the song, a dual-meaning where "we are all together now." According to music critic Tom Maginnis of AllMusic, McCartney created the song "to match the same light-hearted spirit" of "Yellow Submarine".

"All Together Now" appears in an animated sequence in the film Yellow Submarine, and is also introduced by the Beatles themselves in a final live-action scene of the film. During the latter scene, translations of "All Together Now" into various languages appear written on-screen.

All Together Now: Common Sense for a Fair Economy (ISBN 978-1-57675-387-3) is a book written by Jared Bernstein, Chief Economist and Economic Policy Advisor to Vice President Joe Biden, and published in 2006. In it, Bernstein lays the groundwork of what he argues are deep-rooted problems within the U.S. economic system and offers a collaborative solution in which economic risk is shouldered equally at all levels. Bernstein uses the issues of globalization, health care, and income inequality as his case examples of how to improve government policy.

Bernstein often uses the acronyms WITT (we're in this together) and YOYO (you're on your own) to define a basic difference in contemporary political thinking. He promotes the benefits of a "WITT" ideal while describing faults of a "YOYO" attitude.

All Together Now (film)

All Together Now is a feature-length documentary that chronicles the making of The Beatles and Cirque du Soleil collaboration project Love. The film details the story behind the unique partnership between The Beatles and Cirque du Soleil that resulted in the creation and launch of the Love stage show and the double Grammy-winning album of the same name. The film is dedicated to the memory of Neil Aspinall, a former assistant to the band and eventual head of Apple Corps.

Background and release

All Together Now recounts how the Love project came into being, borne from the personal friendship between George Harrison and Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberte. George saw how the twin talents of Cirque’s artistry and The Beatles’ music could be fused into something new and totally original. The title of the DVD refers to The Beatles song "All Together Now".

The director, Adrian Wills, records early meetings between the Cirque & Apple Corps' creative teams, as well as contributions from Sir Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono Lennon and Olivia Harrison discussing how The Beatles' music can be used in a different way. The film touches on the decision to utilize the combined talents of Sir George Martin and his son Giles Martin to produce what became a 90-minute soundscape created from The Beatles' multi-track recordings and how this new audio adventure was being quietly worked on in the famous Abbey Road Studios in London, England whilst the first creative ideas for the show were being formulated in Montreal, Canada.

Children of the revolution (concept)

Children of the revolution is a concept associated with the generation growing up after revolutionary activity. It refers to the first generation of persons born after a revolution. The children of the revolution are a blank slate on which the values of the revolution are imposed. Because the generation have no shared memory of the prior world they cannot compare the new system with the old and will uncritically accept the new system as the natural order.

The phrase usually refers to political revolutions, but is also applied to revolutions in culture, science, or art.
