Foreigner is a British-American rock band, originally formed in 1976 by veteran English
musician Mick Jones and fellow Briton and ex-King Crimson member Ian McDonald along with American vocalist Lou Gramm. Foreigner are one of the world's best-selling bands of all time with worldwide sales of nearly 80 million albums, including 37.5 million albums in the United States alone.
Front man, Lou Gramm, decided to leave the group in May 1990. In 2005, Kelly Hansen's
audition tape was received by Jones and the rest is history. Kelly Jansen has been the
front man ever since. Some still want Gramm back, some have adjusted to the change to Hansen.For me, the music lives on and I like Hansen as the lead singer myself. He fits well with the songs and music.
Taking a cue from the Eagles, Foreigner decided to release their first album in 15 years exclusively through Walmart (As of May 28th, 2010 it is available anywhere CDs are sold.), creating a package that touches upon all phases of their past and into the
present on the three-disc Can't Slow Down. The first disc is a brand-new studio recording, the first to feature their new lead vocalist Kelly Hansen, who joined in 2005, that is Lou Gramm's replacement. The second is a collection of classic hits remixed by Anthony Focx and Marti Frederiksen -- the latter produced the bulk of the new album with Mick Jones, who is the only remaining original member of the band -- while the third disc is a DVD of live performances from 2009, expanded with footage from the making of the album.
(The 'Can't Slow Down' DVD captures the band performing many of its hits live in 5.1 surround sound. The DVD also contains performances filmed during the band's recently completed European tour. Also featured is a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of CAN'T SLOW DOWN, from writing sessions in New York, Nashville, and Los Angeles.)

First appearing on the Hot 100 in October 1981, it reached No. 2 the week of November 28 where it was held off the No. 1 spot by Olivia Newton-John's single "Physical" for nine consecutive weeks then by Hall & Oates' "I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)" for a 10th week on January 30, 1982.[3] (In 2002, Missy Elliott matched Foreigner's runner-up accomplishment with her single "Work It".) A seemingly prescient designer placed the number "2" on the cover for the single. Despite all of that, it made it to No. 19 amongst the Top 100 singles of 1982.
Prior to the release of this song as a single, Foreigner was considered a hard rock band getting airplay mostly on rock stations and some Top 40 ones. This song gave the group more exposure on top 40 radio stations. Also because the song was soft, most adult contemporary radio stations played it as well, giving the group exposure to an audience they were not really aiming at in general. This song was pivotal in exposing harder rock acts to a broader audience.

Foreigner is a British-American hard rock band, originally formed in New York City in 1976 by veteran English musician Mick Jones and fellow Briton and ex-King Crimson member Ian McDonald along with American vocalist Lou Gramm.
Jones came up with the band's name as he, McDonald and Dennis Elliott were British, while Gramm, Al Greenwood and Ed Gagliardi were American. Their biggest hit single, "I Want to Know What Love Is", topped the United Kingdom and United States Charts among others. They are one of the world’s best-selling bands of all time with worldwide sales of more than 80 million records, including 37.5 million albums in the US alone.

Beginnings and peak
Since its inception, Foreigner has been led by English musician Mick Jones (former member of Nero and the Gladiators, Johnny Hallyday's band, Spooky Tooth, and The Leslie West Band). After the collapse of the Leslie West Band in 1976, Jones found himself stranded in New York City where West's manager, Bud Prager, took him under his wing and encouraged Jones to continue his songwriting and rehearse a band of his own in a space Prager had near his New York office.

The first disc is a brand-new studio recording, the first to feature their new lead vocalist Kelly Hansen, who joined in 2005, that is Lou Gramm's replacement. The second is a collection of classic hits remixed by Anthony Focx and Marti Frederiksen -- the latter produced the bulk of the new album with Mick Jones, who is the only remaining original member of the band -- while the third disc is a DVD of live performances from 2009, expanded with footage from the making of the album.
(The 'Can't Slow Down' DVD captures the band performing many of its hits live in 5.1 surround sound. The DVD also contains performances filmed during the band's recently completed European tour. Also featured is a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of CAN'T SLOW DOWN, from writing sessions in New York, Nashville, and Los Angeles.)

Since its inception, Foreigner have been led by English journeyman rocker Mick Jones (former member of Nero and The Gladiators, Spooky Tooth and The Leslie West Band) who, in early 1976, met with ex-King Crimson member Ian McDonald and formed Foreigner with American singer Lou Gramm (ex-Black Sheep), Dennis Elliott, Al Greenwood, and Ed Gagliardi as a sextet. Foreigner - Agent Provocateur 1984 [Full Album]
After the massive success of 1981's "4" and it's subsequent tour, Foreigner took a couple of years off before returning in 1984 with "Agent Provocateur." Although it didn't do the business that "4" did , "Agent Provocateur" was still a big hit album for the band, and it finally gave them their long sought-after #1 single in the form of "I Want To Know What Love Is. This is one of Foreigners finest albums.
