North Korea is threatening to attack the U.S. mainland over planned military drills with South Korea.

(TRUNEWS) North Korea is threatening to use nuclear weapons against the U.S. mainland and South Korea.
They claimed Monday that they will use a “preemptive” nuclear strike in response to the joint military exercises that are getting underway in South Korea.
The North’s defense commission said it had a plan already and that their arsenal can reach the U.S. and American military bases in Asia, according to Korea Joongang Daily.
“If we push the buttons to annihilate the enemies even right now, all bases of provocations will be reduced to seas of flames and ashes in a moment,” it said in a statement.
The military drills between the U.S. and South Korea are held annually, but this year they have been labeled as the largest ever staged in the Korean Peninsula, and will last about 50 days, as reported by TRUNEWS.
The move is designed to send a message to North Korea in response to their recent nuclear tests and rocket launches. The training is also intended to reassure citizens of South Korea who are uneasy after North Korea’s recent posturing.
More than 15,000 U.S. troops will be involved, which is much more than in previous years, according to The Telegraph. South Korea will use about 290,000 of their troops, including special forces.
Some of the exercises will include simulated scenarios of the fall of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
The North Korean government has also reacted strongly to new sanctions imposed by the U.N.
A spokesperson for South Korea’s Ministry of National Defense vowed its military would make a “firm and merciless response to any provocations”. The South Korean president is calling for more sanctions, hoping Pyongyang will get rid of its nuclear program.

U.S. official confirms North Korean missiles can strike U.S. mainland
(TRUNEWS) A U.S. Commander has confirmed North Korean missiles are capable of striking the continental U.S. – the first time a U.S. official has made this admission.
U.S. Northern Command Commander William Gortney told the Senate Armed Services Committee the KN08 road-mobile intercontinental ballistic missile may deliver a payload to many areas of the mainland.
“North Korea’s recent hostile cyberspace activity, nuclear testing, and continued ballistic missile development represents a dangerous threat to our national security," he said.
The KN08 has not been tested by Pyongyang, but they have carried out a hydrogen bomb test and set off a satellite this year, in violation of UN Security Council Resolutions.
Gortney said the intercontinental ballistic missile has “profound implications”.
“The missile obviates most of the pre-launch indicators on which we have traditionally relied to posture our defenses,” he testified.
He claimed North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is unlikely to attack the homeland unless he perceives an “imminent threat”. In recent days, Kim has condemned the U.S./South Korean military drills and has threatened “pre-emptive” strikes, as reported by TRUNEWS.
The North Korean statements have even raised red flags among Russian authorities, who have warned they could invade the country over the threats.
Gortney claims even if North Korea doesn’t attack it will embolden the regime to develop more advanced weapons systems and complicate U.s. response to a crisis on the peninsula.

Tom Cotton who believes that bombing nuclear facilities in Iran would take days with no need for boots on the ground. But what would an actual military campaign look like? Some have come forward to say that it is unlikely that airstrikes alone would end the Middle Eastern country's nuclear facilities and that an actual full scale war would be needed, with the after math possibly being worst than the mess that Iraq became. A prolonged war with a stronger Iranian military would take several years and result in mass casualties that would mirror the conflict in Vietnam. It's also assumed that the U.S. allies, especially those in mainland Europe, that are anti-Iran would not side with the U.S. as they have always preferred diplomacy over war when dealing with Iran. Relations with Russia, which are already shaky after sanctions over the Ukrainian conflict, would weaken if not completely dissolve.
Best case scenario the United States would be weakened further by yet another pre-emptive war within the Middle East. Worst case scenario an alienated and isolated U.S. could face sanctions or outright war with another major power."

South Korea says its northern neighbor has developed compact nuclear warheads that could reach mainland America. Seoul also alleges Pyongyang shows no signs of stopping its nuclear program and has gained access to tons of weapons-grade plutonium.
The South Korean Ministry of Defense published the revelations in a white paper, which states that North Korea has achieved significant technological progress in their attempts to create nuclear warheads for ballistic missiles.
The missiles could allegedly reach mainland America. Pyongyang has carried out a series of tests on long-range missiles, but no signs have been detected that Pyongyang has put such missiles into service, Seoul said.

(TRUNEWS) North Korea is threatening to use nuclear weapons against the U.S. mainland and South Korea.
They claimed Monday that they will use a “preemptive” nuclear strike in response to the joint military exercises that are getting underway in South Korea.
The North’s defense commission said it had a plan already and that their arsenal can reach the U.S. and American military bases in Asia, according to Korea Joongang Daily.
“If we push the buttons to annihilate the enemies even right now, all bases of provocations will be reduced to seas of flames and ashes in a moment,” it said in a statement.
The military drills between the U.S. and South Korea are held annually, but this year they have been labeled as the largest ever staged in the Korean Peninsula, and will last about 50 days, as reported by TRUNEWS.
The move is designed to send a message to North Korea in response to their recent nuclear tests and rocket launches. The training is also intended to reassure citizens of South Korea who are uneasy after North Korea’s recent posturing.
More than 15,000 U.S. troops will be involved, which is much more than in previous years, according to The Telegraph. South Korea will use about 290,000 of their troops, including special forces.
Some of the exercises will include simulated scenarios of the fall of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
The North Korean government has also reacted strongly to new sanctions imposed by the U.N.
A spokesperson for South Korea’s Ministry of National Defense vowed its military would make a “firm and merciless response to any provocations”. The South Korean president is calling for more sanctions, hoping Pyongyang will get rid of its nuclear program.

(TRUNEWS) A U.S. Commander has confirmed North Korean missiles are capable of striking the continental U.S. – the first time a U.S. official has made this admission.
U.S. Northern Command Commander William Gortney told the Senate Armed Services Committee the KN08 road-mobile intercontinental ballistic missile may deliver a payload to many areas of the mainland.
“North Korea’s recent hostile cyberspace activity, nuclear testing, and continued ballistic missile development represents a dangerous threat to our national security," he said.
The KN08 has not been tested by Pyongyang, but they have carried out a hydrogen bomb test and set off a satellite this year, in violation of UN Security Council Resolutions.
Gortney said the intercontinental ballistic missile has “profound implications”.
“The missile obviates most of the pre-launch indicators on which we have traditionally relied to posture our defenses,” he testified.
He claimed North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is unlikely to attack the homeland unless he perceives an “imminent threat”. In recent days, Kim has condemned the U.S./South Korean military drills and has threatened “pre-emptive” strikes, as reported by TRUNEWS.
The North Korean statements have even raised red flags among Russian authorities, who have warned they could invade the country over the threats.
Gortney claims even if North Korea doesn’t attack it will embolden the regime to develop more advanced weapons systems and complicate U.s. response to a crisis on the peninsula.
